What was really the purpose of Lee's death?

I mean, besides giving season 1 a sad ending.
I dunno, I feel like he wasn't ready to go yet.

  • So clementine could move up in the world. Lee was a great character, but I believe he died at the right time. His character arc came full circle.

  • . To make people cry and win Game Of The Year awards.

  • To pass the torch.

  • Honestly there is no reason in the grand scheme of things. Lee could have lived and Clementine could still have developed just as well if not better. Plus Clementine was absolutely pointless in ANF so she only lasted a season before becoming irrelevant.

To save himself from the quality of the following seasons, of course.

(i probably don't need to clarify, but this is a joke)

This is why there are a few mirrors between episode 1 and 5 (eg. Lee being in handcuffs).

Or because he was ya know.... "Urban".

  • Sometime I wish I could of known what would of happened if Lee lived as long as Clementine to present time. Lee would no doubt had become rougher.

  • There wasn't any purpose. Great character, didn't deserve to gou out like that getting bit by some random zombie. Would have been great to have his story continue and have him not getting relegated to just being Clementine's guardian.

  • what is the purpose of life

  • That's actually a pretty good reason.

  • i miss lee ;(
am playing the game from 1 week and i have finished it but when Lee gone thats makes me cry ;(

  • I don't really buy the redemption thing, because they never act like he brutally murdered the senator, but imply they both fought and Lee killed him in accidental rage.

To Kenny and then Javier? ;)
Because they were clearly the main characters of season 2 and 3, not clementine

  • To be fair, he thought Kenny was dead and had no way of knowing he'd derail her story.

  • I assume he attacked first, given the context.

But I think the idea is he entered the apocalypse as a murderer and left it as a life-saver/guardian/whatever.
