" To truly get the feel of TWD I think its necessary to have multiple determinant characters who, depending on your actions, can make it to the end and cause ripple effects, maybe even by saving another character who would then become determinant. As clarification, I dont think these games are awful, i love them, I'm just frustrated that no choices or paths you take can change the story as a whole when its been done in many other, older, harder to program games." | "Like I was telling others. This game is all about Clem" | "But TTG are working on other games, so it makes sense as to why TWD won't get all of their dedicated attention. It needs it though..."(July 2014)
There are many, many more to that list. Next time do your research before you mumble things and pass them off as facts because they're your "opinions and people need to respect them."

I don't think there was anything implying that Lingard was using that specific drug on himself. Vancomycin is an antibiotic, which I'm pretty sure aren't generally used to get high. Whatever he was using, there's a good chance it was some kind of painkiller or opiate or something.
Also, from the sounds of it, David does seem to be purposefully covering for Lingard ("You fucking high again?! Pull yourself together before the others see you.")
So it would seem that the double standard here is actually intentional. 'For a friend, the rules will bend'
To be fair, Lingard is the New Frontier's doctor, [eventual?] co-leader, and David's friend/colleague who he has been trying to make go stra… moreight, while Clementine is an edgy newbie who brought a sick baby into their camp and stole from them when she was told they wouldn't be able to save him(btw, I'm surprised add using the medicine or not to your list even if it was most likely done for the sake of ambiguity). Call it nepotism if you want(because it's pretty much what it is), but that's just how it is.
There is nothing wrong with Clem get kicked out if you inject him. There are two things that makes it nonsense. First, Lingard wasted important drugs on himself and even Clem knows that(You have an option to confront him before you inject AJ). So Clem has been marked as a thief and also marked as "putting herself before the group". Lingard did the exact same thing and he actually put himself before the group. He wasted drugs that can s… [view original content]
I think the main reason why people even think ANF is shit, is the fact that Season 1 was so goddamn good.
As far as I'm concerned, this is exactly the problem. S1, in comparison to the rest of Telltale catalog, is an outlier. It is not the norm for Telltale, and never was the norm to begin with. S1, for all intents and purposes, was higher than their average quality bar, before AND after. Diamond in the rough, as they say. But a lot of people don't seem to see it the same way.
Aye it does, but we've gone overboard with the heat a long time ago.
I think the main reason why people even think ANF is shit, is the fa… morect that Season 1 was so goddamn good. Season 2 wasn't bad, but it didn't nearly reach the heights that S1 achieved (closest one was the episode A House Divided).
All the future installments were bound to be worse than Season 1, but us, as the player base, thought that the future will installments will only improve on Season 1's near perfection, which was foolish and now we're paying the price for it.
Also, if you're going to reply to this with something like "it could have been so much better blah blah blah, it could have been as good as Season 1, if they used the scrapped content blah blah blah" nonsense, this is what I'll tell you.
This is not about "what could have been", this is about "what it is". Also, I believe that Season 3 would have been on the same level with Season 2, if the scrapped… [view original content]
Does it deserve criticism and honest opinions? Yes.
Does it deserve the sheer amount of cynicism and shit being hurled towards it? I don't really think so. You can talk about how shit it turned out, all the broken promises, lies, and stuff... but I still think there's a LOT of other games that are much worse than this, and games which employed MUCH more scummy tactics to reel people in. For all the shitty practices and shitty sequels going around in the games industry, this one seems relatively tame. It is most certainly possible to give much, much less of a fuck about your product and fans than this.

I've never seen a single reality based argument in favor of ANF. I've never seen a "Pro-ANF" person trying to debunk the many reality based arguments against it.
Maybe because you are so firm in your opinion of the game that you refuse to acknowledge possible valid counterarguments. Your needlessly long pretentious post gives me that impression.
Do I need to give you the definition of "opinion" and "subjective"?
I would ask that you, and every other person who gives values to… more such terms to start studying axiology and objectivism right now.
No one owes respect to what you call your "opinion" for it is a concept you create on your mind. And there's the thing: there's what's on your mind and then there's reality. The Truth. The real world. And we live in the real world. It has laws, shape, it has Truths. Truths such as too much heat creates a painful reaction in your nervous system. Truths such as applying too much force on a glass panel breaks it into pieces. Truths such as if one thing isn't there, it isn't there. And truths such as if one thing makes sense, it makes sense.
We do not live in your mind. In your mind, you can be fine with missing things, such as missing character development, missing hubs, missing slow paced story periods, etc. Also in your mind, you can l… [view original content]
Doesn't deserve the heat means we should ignore the main flaws and enjoy the game.
dude that's not what that means at all. it just means that it doesn't deserve all the hate. it absolutely should still be criticized but that doesn't mean it should be non-stop ruthlessly hated. i get you hate the game and i really fucking do too but letting up is not the same as ignoring the flaws.
Of course there's a lot of games worse than this. Games in a revered series are generally held to a much higher standard than something crapped out for a quick dime. You're not going to compare a bad game in a series to Superman 64 and brush it off, you're gonna compare it what came before. And much better games have been skewered in this same way in the past.
For all intents and purposes, Mass Effect 3 was an amazing game. It greatly improved on the combat and RPG system, bring the character skill and item customization much closer to the original after it was overly simplified in ME2. The story was actually pretty damned good, touching base on many storylines throughout the series to bring them to a close. And then 10 minutes of artistic integrity happened. 10 minutes, in 30+ hours, did to the game what Kardashians ass picture did to the internet. It was poorly done, disappointing, and flew in the face of everything the games had built towards, doing the exact thing the developers had promised for years wouldn't be how the series was resolved. It got downvoted into oblivion, fans were sending cupcakes, the aftermath of ANF was like pacifist rally by comparison. And this was over 10 minutes, ANF was 7 or so hours.
If you're going to deliver on a sequel, especially one in a series as big as this, it's expected that you deliver. A bad game with no expectations is a bad game we were expecting. ANF was revealed months before the game came out, and, what was it they called it? A general idea of what they were thinking of doing? 6 months before the game came out, they had somewhat of an idea of what it would be about. And the final product shows, as it resembles nothing close to what was shown and talked about in June. In any ongoing series, there are expectations to be met. Games, movies, TV shows, the comparisons are always kept within the series. Nobody saw The Phantom Menace and compared it to Batman and Robin lol. Franchises that build large fanbases build large expectations, you can't have one without the other.
Does it deserve criticism and honest opinions? Yes.

Can you take a guess how I know you didn't have an account during Season 2?
I think that is a problem on both sides of the coin, honestly
There's people that like/don't mind ANF, then there's people that hate/don't like it. Each side is fully convicted in their beliefs, and no amount of arguing is going to make them change their minds.
Yet both sides continue to go at each other... which usually results in something along the lines of
1: it sucks
2: i don't think so
1: well you're thinking wrong
2: how so
1: well... blablablablablabla
2: that's just your opinion

I'm think that's referencing the fact that the shot temporarily alleviated the symptoms. It doesn't necessarily mean that Lingard knows it from experience, just that he knows that it would alleviate the symptoms and help the kid suffer a little bit less.

It deserves most of the heat it gets because it's painfully obvious most of the characters and story was boring and bland. You can't just ignore the terrible character of Joan and Eleanor, the constant rewrites of the plot, the poorly developed characters of the Garcia family, and the treatment of Clem's character, then say "Oh, it was amazing! My favorite season of all time!"
Now, it doesn't deserve all of the heat is getting too, just most of it. It's not the worst game Telltale made, but it also isn't the greatest. It's mediocre at best. There are some good moments this season, but there's more cringy and bad moments than good ones.
Everyone has a right to voice their opinion about a product they paid for. Don't just start bashing each other because one person disagrees with you and forcing them to like or dislike ANF.
To anyone who thought ANF was better than S2 and/or S1, if there is any, care to explain why or how is it better?
Did you see the Kenny/Jane flashbacks? The flashbacks alone justify every negative comment this game got. But then there are a lot of plotholes, and characters' motivation is all over the place, and than there are gun just laying around in the end of Episode 5, then there is Ava's hillariously bad death scene, then there was misleading advertisement campaign... This game has a lot of problems and it 100% deserves the hate it is getting.
Might be part of why their ending the series because of S1 standing out and attracting so many wannabe Shakespearean level critics who will always compare every game after the first to the first and they know they'll never get close to reaching that level of quality and thus always disappointing most people's already high expectations because of the first season.

I have detailed how I would have changed S3....but what can I say...if people do wonder why I find S3 so detestable, let me list the reasons.
S3 will in the end not fit with the series as a whole. Consider that Clementine has either been the focus of our worries or been our avatar in which we try to keep her safe...then comes along ANF. We have new people...we only see the first hour of their journey into the outbreak...then bam...4 years later...and we are supposed to feel something for these people?
Clem could have been replaced by any other teenager and the story would have been the same.
People are so contradictory in their motivations...seemingly like the way the wind blows.
David is an asshole...and are we really to believe that he never once missed his right hand man and others whenever they went to raid a town?
Richmond is 100 miles from Alexandria...you are telling me that the Alexandria safe zone never heard about Richmond's new leadership?
Gabe should never be allowed to procreate.
Very little to explore
Combat is the worst in the series
Joan is the flimsiest villain since Rita Repulsa
Interesting characters are wasted...Kate...Ava....Tripp became one dimensional...and was way too forgiving.
Everyone wants Javi to lead? Really?
The only one with any damn sense is the stoner! (To be fair her use is no where near being a stoner)
Cut content actually sounded more interesting than the content we got.
We really never got to know these people...if you want us to care...we need to be able to sit around and talk with them.
I have detailed how I would have changed S3....but what can I say...if people do wonder why I find S3 so detestable, let me list the reasons… more.

I can assure you that whenever I'm presented with a strong, well thought out, reality based argument, I always consider it... as I mentioned twice in my post. I mean, did you read it? It's so long! Literally, takes 1 minute to read through. The horror!
On a serious note, I couldn't type a comment defending Objectivity which was three lines long. I'm simply not like that, I like to thoroughly fundament my statements you see; unlike some .
If you're willing to ever make an argument defending ANF, I'm here to listen. Hell, I criticized two characters up above on this thread, why don't you or someone else take that as an opportunity to defend ANF and prove me wrong? Why hasn't anyone done that for the past... uh... 10 months now? If you're willing to point me to such arguments defending ANF you claim exist, I'm here to listen, I just honestly haven't encountered any.

a strong, well thought out, reality based argument
You mean your needlessly long pretentious argument? yeah... i wonder how much it took you to copy and paste it... or just copy it.
Hey, ANF is a flawed game, nobody denies that, it could've been so much better... but some people can still find a way to enjoy it! (like i did) I enjoyed a few aspects of the game: personally i enjoyed playing as Javier much more than Clementine, i like his character, i enjoyed the action scenes, some plot twists, the mechanics of the game... This is all my personal opinion, you can disagree with me all you want but you'll never change my mind. If you dont like my opinion, just ignore it, if you keep feeling the need of telling me how wrong i am then you can go f#*k yourself.
Now... saying that the game "doesn't deserve the heat" it's not the same as saying: "it's a flawless game" do you understand now? or should i get you a dictionary?
I can assure you that whenever I'm presented with a strong, well thought out, reality based argument, I always consider it... as I mentioned… more twice in my post. I mean, did you read it? It's so long! Literally, takes 1 minute to read through. The horror!

And just to further show how little intellect you have and how you didn't pay attention at all to anything I wrote, you go ahead and try to sound smart even though I wasn't referring to my argument about Objectivity at all in what you quoted, but arguments in general.
Maybe next time read the thing you're trying to reply to?
Of course, asking you to read what I'm actually writing and considering it rather than just spewing out the first ignorant bullshit that comes to your mouth is too much - and I'm clearly the self-absorbed pretentious guy here.
So, no, I wasn't referring to the "needlessly long pretentious argument" about Objectivity at all, smartass. Let's try this. Why don't you try to show off how smart you are and try to engage in an actual discussion about it. Tell me why it is "pretentious" and "needlessly long". Counterargument. Hey, @8971037, why don't you go ahead and do that too?
personally i enjoyed playing as Javier much more than Clementine, i like his character, i enjoyed the action scenes, some plot twists, the mechanics of the game...
These are statements. You'd have to delve into them, use examples of actual game scenes and characterization moments for them to be arguments. The same with "your post is long and pretentious". It gives me nothing to work with, you have to explain your claims if you want me to understand and consider what you're saying.
This is all my personal opinion, you can disagree with me all you want but you'll never change my mind.
So... you're saying you're a close minded idiot whose opinion won't budge no matter what anyone says, no matter what well thought out arguments are put before you, you won't consider them. You do realize that's the very definition of ignorance and close mindedness? To deny to listen to anything but oneself?
If you dont like my opinion, just ignore it, if you keep feeling the need of telling me how wrong i am then you can go f#*k yourself.
Yes! Absolutely! We should all just stick to our own opinions, not discuss them and be all happy close minded idiots who won't listen to anyone but ourselves! It's not like that goes against the very point of these forums - to discuss - pfft.
Seriously, what are you doing on a forum if you're not here to listen to other people? Just to act victimy whenever someone questions your poorly thought out statements?
It's not that I don't like your opinion. It's that it's absolutely wrong in my eyes, and the fact that you cower behind "it's my opinion you can't challenge it!!!" rather than - uh - counter arguing?, just further makes me feel more valid about my position.
Now... saying that the game "doesn't deserve the heat" it's not the same as saying: "it's a flawless game" do you understand now? or should i get you a dictionary?
I'm sorry, I'm a bit lost, when exactly did I say that?
You're trying too hard. Try to step up your sass game next time... and intellect... and attention span while reading at that.

I enjoyed that aspect. Playing as a little girl takes me out of immersion for a zombie game.
Quick reminder that one of the two glorious demigods of S1, Jake Rodkin, used to be a forum moderator on these forums before he started working for Telltale
Care to address all the other links I provided?

nice
Maybe because you are so firm in your opinion of the game that you refuse to acknowledge possible valid counterarguments. Your needlessly long pretentious post gives me that impression.
dude that's not what that means at all. it just means that it doesn't deserve all the hate. it absolutely should still be criticized but that doesn't mean it should be non-stop ruthlessly hated. i get you hate the game and i really fucking do too but letting up is not the same as ignoring the flaws.
Can you take a guess how I know you didn't have an account during Season 2?
All this research is worth its own thread.
Different account, different email years ago.
I think that is a problem on both sides of the coin, honestly
There's people that like/don't mind ANF, then there's people that hate/don't like it. Each side is fully convicted in their beliefs, and no amount of arguing is going to make them change their minds.
Yet both sides continue to go at each other... which usually results in something along the lines of
Then eventually one side finally gets annoyed and stops posting
To be fair, he did say that it only bought AJ a moment of comfort if she injected him anyway, which muddies the waters a little bit.
I'm think that's referencing the fact that the shot temporarily alleviated the symptoms. It doesn't necessarily mean that Lingard knows it from experience, just that he knows that it would alleviate the symptoms and help the kid suffer a little bit less.
The point is his words made it seem like it was a painkiller to the uneducated rather than an antibiotic.
Which raises questions about why the fuck Clementine would wanna use that to cure AJ if she somehow knew exactly what to look for, but whatever.
To be fair, Ava is his right hand woman; Max is just a close friend he trusted.
...Priorities?
Well that's a reference!
Yeah, that is definitely a [very] minor point of contention I've had as well.
Yes.
The only way Telltale will improve is through criticism, that and ANF is so bad that even a Season 2 defender like me hates it.
Now... saying that the game "doesn't deserve the heat" it's not the same as saying: "it's a flawless game" do you understand now? or should i get you a dictionary?
...he says as he copies the exact same wording of a comment above.
These are statements. You'd have to delve into them, use examples of actual game scenes and characterization moments for them to be arguments. The same with "your post is long and pretentious". It gives me nothing to work with, you have to explain your claims if you want me to understand and consider what you're saying.
So... you're saying you're a close minded idiot whose opinion won't budge no matter what anyone says, no matter what well thought out arguments are put before you, you won't consider them. You do realize that's the very definition of ignorance and close mindedness? To deny to listen to anything but oneself?
Yes!
I'm sorry, I'm a bit lost, when exactly did I say that?
You're trying too hard. Try to step up your sass game next time... and intellect... and attention span while reading at that.
I didn't copy anything, it is what it is, it's the simpliest explanation, moron.
I've already mentioned my reasons, what more do you want!? what part you do not understand? is it too much for you brain? you want me to write an essay about it!? fine! for start: I like Javier's character, he has a good personality for a protagonist, whichever choice you pick, it suits him, whether he is a douche or a good guy, you can switch between "good" and "bad" choices and it's still not out of character for him, wich wasnt the case for Clementine. I enjoyed that aspect. Playing as a little girl takes me out of immersion for a zombie game. I didn't like being reduced to a child who had to react to the dumb things and choices that the adults were making. Dont like my opinion? not my problem.
Classic... now you are playing victim, how predictable and pathetic.
Not my problem either. It's really evident you are the only smartass here, who are you trying to fool? by the way, here you go: http://www.dictionary.com/
You've certainly put a lot of time and energy into complaining about this game, I don't even devote ten seconds to thinking about games I don't like, you'll never see me whining and bitching in internet forums about videogames I hate. I'm done.
