good man but the end of the world got the worst out of him, SAD
S A D
Great man, has his flaws but always looked out for the people he cares about. He did right by AJ and Clem.
Oh, goodness gracious! Just went you think it's safe to go back in the country...!
A good man and most certainly a family man, his objectives are good but his execution and the manner he approaches the situation is sometimes bad or completely unnecessary.
One of my Favorite characters in the TWD games ((Tied with Omid ))
He s essentially one of those characters you either love or hate .
A flawed family man with a typically bullheaded way of doing things. Not to mention fascinatingly polarizing among fans of the series and one of the prime examples of the excellent morally gray writing Telltale's The Walking Dead became known for.
One of the greatest fictional characters ever created. His actions and words were controversial at times, but very entertaining none the less. I hope he is brought back as main character in season 4 to save the series.
I think I threw up a little.
A great character that should have stayed dead at the end of season 1...became a crutch for the writers in S2.
And the most overexposed character in the fuckin series.
His presence in S2 would've been warranted if the opponent was p much anyone but Jane
More like his presence in S2 would've been warranted if he wasn't such an unrelated spotlight hog.
Uh, I wouldn't exactly say anyone.
the christ himself reincarnated
Yep
Pretty much what the general consensus of this thread has said, a great character who had his flaws, but was overall a good man who has lost more than almost anyone in this game. He was always looking out for his family and the people he considered family; no matter what the situation was, he would do anything to protect them, even at great risk to himself. His actions were controversial, but his intentions were always good, it just got bogged down thanks to those around him. He had a quick temper and was always outspoken about what he thought was right, even if it pissed off everyone around him, but he was steadfastly loyal, courageous, and will always be a character I want at my side when things ultimately go to shit.
Also, a character that managed to have both one of the most emotional deaths, and one of the most insulting, poorly executed, and shittiest deaths in the series. A fucking car crash, are you fucking serious Telltale, one of your most popular and beloved characters in this series and you paralyze him in a 5 minute flashback, fuck you.
I'm on Team Kenny. W00T
I loved Kenny but sometimes he got on my nerves.
Kenny is the best character. In Season 1 we see him transform into a better person, in Season 2 we see him fight his inner demons. One of the most well-developed characters in video game history.
Oh great here we ago. Must be a newbie making a new thread about Kenny (waits for the arguments to begin)
So is Clementine but oh we can’t say anything bad about her ohhh no!
I know, right?
That's because she's the intended main character and the mascot of these games. She's typically the character everyone thinks of first whenever this series is brought up, who gets most of the outside attention(for better or worse), and she's the character we were supposed to be following at least as a follow up to Season 1.
Kenny is overexposed precisely because he returned to eat up most of the spotlight in a story that had nothing to do with him and was advertised as being Clementine's story when it was clearly more about him. And it really doesn't help that Telltale clearly can't let him go since not only does he get more references than even Lee at this point but they constantly create characters that blatantly try to imitate him as closely as possible(most recently/pathetically David and Tripp) more than they actually make characters that happen to serve vaguely similar purposes and/or get similar levels of [initial] development. We're at a point now where we can barely go a game with him showing up and getting more shilling even when it's completely irrelevant, redundant, and just flat out excessive/unnecessary.
I disagree that it was “all about him”. Just because he was largely involved in the story doesn’t mean that. It was clearly about Clementine and originally the idea of her either siding with Luke or Kenny so naturally Kenny was a focus but it was still about Clementine. The idea they had was to test the players by seeing how loyal they were with that final choice or not especially. I think if it was any other character who returned and not Kenny I imagine you wouldn’t have the same view that he or she hogged the spotlight.
And of course he is bound to get more references than Lee. She spent more time round him than Lee in the end. I will say that Christa is someone Clem should be talking about a lot more than Lee or Kenny for the same reason.
I get what you’re saying but i don’t agree as i said. Plus you know he’s not going to be relevant in the final season anyway
Shouldve stayed dead after season 1 so the season 2 cast could have actual relevance
I feel like everyone deals with the apocalypse differently. Kenny feels like he's entitled to protecting those around him no matter what or the cost. He's the underdog, he doesn't fold under pressure and definitely someone who isn't reluctant to speaking his mind. I'd like to summarize Kenny as Relentless and misunderstood to say the least.
I’d like to also add that it goes to show just how much Kenny gets to people good or bad. Someone who gets a reaction is better than someone who doesn’t. It’s like in WWE for example, if a wrestler isn’t cheered or booed then it’s a very bad sign
Haha, as soon as I made my profile I avoided making these type of threads. I knew they wouldn't sit well.
Hence why I said mostly about him.
That's a great example of my point:. Let's use Lilly, for example.
Lily, similar to Kenny, was a main character during the first half of Season 1 who had a complicated determinant relationship with Lee and acted as a contrast to Kenny. However, unlike him, she stopped being a part of the main cast due to plot developments that were intended to break the status quo and set her on the path to becoming the comic character she was named after. However, when this tie in deal fell through, she kinda fell in this weird limbo where the hook of her exit from the game's story wasn't picked up as originally intended. And though Telltale actually did plan on bringing her back, they didn't go through with the initial plan and simply haven't touched her since(that we know of).
If it were her who returned in Season 2, it still would've been a major Season 1 character who was somewhat controversial but would also have more of a reason to be a main character again due to her arguably closer implied initial connection with Clementine, being less redundant next to the Season 2 original characters, and her presence would be making up for the accidental lost time. But since they chose Kenny, who was arguably the deuteroganist of Season 1 and actually did get a proper resolution and sendoff, it instead dug up something that probably should've stayed in the ground and gave it way more sun than it really needed.
I think we can all mostly agree on this.
Which is another good reason why we need don't need to see/hear him at all outside of a congratulations sequence or something periphery.
I wouldn't necessarily say that's a good thing.
Never forget last summer(or whenever it was).
No I didn't make this discussion to see an argument. I wanted to see how others viewed Kenny as I personally think he is a good character. But I can understand why you think that this discussion will cause arguments. Is there any way to close this discussion myself or do I need to ask a moderator to do that?
I noticed that people think that this discussion was made entirely for me to watch a fight. No it was not. I was interested to see arguments. I wanted to see what drew people to like/dislike Kenny. However I understand that what someone may dislike about him may anger someone so that may cause an argument. So I was wondering if anyone could get a moderator to close this discussion? Or is there any way I can close the discussion?
Arguments are the very point of these forums. We're meant to discuss. You did nothing wrong, people just go bananas whenever there's a discussion involving Kenny, as if it's somehow forbidden by the guidelines to have arguments over him.
I'm sure a mod will eventually happen by and assign sentencing as they see fit.
You did nothing wrong. Don't feel bad for making this thread. We are on these forums to discuss stuff. I am sure you have good intentions.
Thank you
Well thats good then. I didn't make this discussion to create an argument. Even though some people seem to think I did. But I didn't
To be honest I have no feeling about him non even clem too, the new frontier killed my feeling toward the characters of this series.
It's fine. You're not the one responsible for the real problems and it's entirely possible that you couldn't have known the tendencies of certain crowds.
I quickly skimmed through this thread and I think it seems fine. Most of the complaints I saw were from it being an extremely common topic to discuss instead of something more specific, I think.
