If they did a TV adaption...

So, if AMC did a TV adaptation of the games that was set in the TWD live-action universe currently shared by TWD and FTWD, what changes to the storyline would you like to see made? And what changes do you feel that they would realistically make?

Here’s mine
Season 1

Essentially the same story as the game, with the following major choices:

  • Lee is bros with Kenny until the meat locker choice which puts a strain in their relationship.
  • Lee kills Danny because he's fed up with everything, but after seeing Clem's reaction Lee questions who he is and spares Andy.
  • Lee does take part in robbing the car since they need food.
  • Lee and Kenny fight on the train though Lee puts Duck down for him.
  • Lee saves Ben and everyone goes to find Clem. In the end, Clem puts down Lee.

Some minor tweaks that I would make for the sake of television drama:

  • Both Carley and Doug would survive EP1.
  • There would be some interesting filler between EP1 and EP2, where we meet Mark and get to know him more.
  • Doug would take Mark's place of being dinner, while Mark would get killed in the bandit attack in EP2.

Season 2

Would follow the same plot with these major choices:

  • Clem saves Nick in EP1.
  • Kenny takes the shot resulting in Alvin's EP2 death.
  • Watch Carver die because it's a brutal scene and later chop off Sarita's arm.
  • Clem attempts to save Sarah in the trailer but leaves her in the end. Shows that Clem is starting to learn from Jane and goes back to Carver's point of wasting your time with incompetent people.
  • Rob Arvo because they need the pills and it'd further shows Clem's changing character. Also would make Arvo more sympathetic and could lead to some interesting dialogue of the group wondering why Clem robbed him.
  • In regards to the endings, I think the best ones for TV would either be Clem shooting Kenny and leaving Jane, or Clem not shooting Kenny and staying in Wellington. The first one gives a sad farewell to a great character while also bringing in the idea of Clem not trusting anyone. The Wellington ending is just really sad and would also be a great farewell to Kenny. If I had to choose I think the Wellington ending would be better for TV. Both of the Jane endings are very unsatisfying and the leave with Kenny ending would be better as a series finale.

Tweaks for television:

  • Keep Omid and Christa alive. Like Skulldetta said Omid could have Alvin's EP3 death.
  • Christa would take Rebecca's role of having the baby.
  • Rebecca would be the same character, except not pregnant and more physically active as a result. She would get killed during the gunfight in EP5.
  • More emphasis on Carver telling Clem to leave (not kill) the main group because they're incompetent. Would make Carver more interesting and not just "kill the weak!" Could also get rid of Reggie's death since he gets killed for the dumbest reason (maybe change it to a beating instead).
  • Nick would be killed by Carver in EP3 as punishment for the walkie-talkie shenanigans.
  • Would make Carver more scary and prevent Nick's awful EP4 death.
  • Make one of the overall main goals trying to reach Wellington, so reaching it like in the one ending makes it even more satisfying.
  • Sarita initially survives her arm being chopped, but would later die due to blood loss and be put down by Kenny. It was expected that she was going to die, but her getting killed at the start of the episode was very lame. Also it could lead to some emotional tension of Kenny knowing that the inevitable will happen.
  • I'd make Bonnie/Mike not kiss Arvo's ass as much, or at least not until Kenny starts beating him in the cabin.
  • Bonnie would die in the lake scene regardless.
  • I don't know how I'd do it, but I'd redo the final fight so it's Kenny vs Luke (though for now I'll just assume it's still Kenny vs Jane). Yes it's more predictable but it felt like the entire season was building up to this.

New Frontier

So many things would have to be changed to make this an enjoyable TV experience. I don't feel like discussing each point, but basically I'd make the entire season a spin-off like Fear the Walking Dead and Clem wouldn't be in it. Clem's story would continue in the final season, though if they really wanted to she could show up as a small little crossover (like maybe meeting Javi, fighting with him for a bit then leaving on good terms all in a single episode). Either way, Clem wouldn't be involved with any major story elements though like joining the NF and the stuff with AJ and David.

Comments

  • Well you make the choices so I don't know how that would work.

  • They'd reverse that original game's ending with Clem dying and Lee surviving to become unstable possibly like Morgan going in his clear mode.

If AMC when to do this It'll be a 16 episodes long drama, It'll probably be filled of filler episodes and Lee would probably survive because they know how popular he is so they will milk the hell outta him, anyway I won't trust AMC to do this.
