Pretty much agreed with the rest of comments.
I have never been able to property enjoy Season One's looks, partly because of its permanen… moret washed-out color palette that made most models look as if they were covered in dust; and partly because of the low resolution of some models themselves. This was somewhat solved in Season Two, Michonne and A New Frontier.
And yet, I don't think I can be pleased by the look Collection offers Season One, either. Some models' resolutions have been expanded, and that's notable. They also improved a small handful of animations, going by the promotional trailer. But the new lighting floods the characters and environment with saturated lights and dramatic shadows. I did not realize this when I watched the preview, but, after speaking to some people—whom you can find on the thread—I can't unsee it. You might find this look appealing if you are into the look of into graphic novels, but it is a downgrade if yo… [view original content]
They removed the glass from Lee's hand, as well as the iconic credits music. No more "Take Us Back." to all the people who wasted $50 I hope it was worth it lol
Music licenses expire. It happens all over media. A lot of movies have had music changed over the years in re-releases as well. Music on TV shows is changed 90% of the time on Netflix alone. You can't blame Telltale for that gripe. It sucks, but it's not a problem exclusive to this game.
I'm surprised people were given early access to it. Anyway I totally agree, I really like the the texture/model updates but man - the new me… morenu UI sucks massive donkey dick. What worries me is ANF credits music plays during the S1 episode credits... they better have not fucking removed the S2 credit songs.
Telltale employee: Boss, we have a problem. We removed the optionable actions in use of right stick of the controller during QTEs but how are we supposed to make Lee use the glass shard during his fight on walkers at the Marsh House hotel in Episode 5?
Telltale boss: Just remove the shard scene and make him use the cleaver with or without the infected arm because not a lot of people chose to spare his arm.
(Did you know that the correct term for someone who was hanging in past tense is not "hung" but "hanged" which only applies to the hanging of a person. Hung is for objects like clothes.) Not a grammar nazi but a shit ton of people genuinely don't know this lol

Don't be ridiculous. Just because the license expired doesn't mean I can't blame Telltale for that. Of course I can, this is a supposed 'remaster' that doesn't include music that was present in the original. I wouldn't recommend the PS3/PS4 versions of San Andreas for the same reason - removed music that negatively impact the experience. I can criticise the collection for that regardless of how prominent this problem is or not.

If they DIDN'T remove the Music from the Games they would've gotten SUED. The Last thing Telltale needs is a major lawsuit when their money situation is in shambles. Hell, they dont even have enough Money to renew the licenses. Music licenses cost money. Look at Telltale GOTG. That's probably why It flopped.

The backgrounds are better-textured than before, I see it as well. But that doesn't cancel the fact that the loss of all that great music is a downgrade.
This is probably one of my favorite screenshots. It looks like a concept art.
In my honest opinion, the new "graphical update" doesn't really do well in 98.9% of the scenes. The lighting looks off in most places as if there's a big beam of light following the characters everywhere.

This probably comes as no surprise, but I disagree. While there are some scenes that definitely look weirdly lit (such as the infamous comparison image seen in the OP), most of them seem fine.
Granted, a lot of it is probably subjective. Some things are just gonna look better to others, some things are going to look a lot less appealing. For me, I find a majority of the lighting helps accentuate details, or helps illustrate depth in either the environments, or sometimes characters themselves. It doesn't tend to go overboard to an extreme degree, at least not in my eyes. But I'll admit that that's mostly down to personal preference on my part. Truth be told, I was never that big of a fan of the way S1 was lit.

Be sorry for your terrible judge of video game graphics!
...is what @Dont_look_back would probably say to you right now
But as it would turn out, I am not Dont_look_back, and I think I agree with you
I wonder if they improved any of the flaws from season 1 like Clem's weird nose quivering in episode two, Kenny's marionette jaw or other awkward jerky bits? Probably not.
I think I'll wait and see how long it takes for a discount. I'm still open to the idea of a "new" way to view Season 1. But this is nowhere near impressive enough for 50 bucks and in some cases seems like a downgrade.
A more interesting idea would have been to change the graphics to resemble something like The Wolf Among Us, since they're both based on comic books.
I do appreciate that they added extra details to the scenario tho.
Also, why aren't buyers of the previous seasons not getting the remaster for free on pc or something?
I do like kinda like the graphics in the collection, but i still feel the classic is better. Like i said it was the classic graphics that kinda gave the game a rusty and horror way.
Hold up, just realised, if one of us says one thing bad about kenny we get banned for it but if you do this with Jane its all shits and giggles? Well i hope kenny giggles and shits on you.
I still can't believe that they didn't include Take Us Back in the remaster. Just repurchase the fucking royalties for fuck's sake. Take Us Back was part of what made the finale so impactful. I remember crying while listening to it and reflecting upon everything that happened throughout the course of the season. The fact that it isn't on there is a cheapskate move.

He speaks the truth ?
Yeah she hung around all right! Fuck Jane!! Leaving Clem and AJ all alone killing herself. Selfish
Fuck that pissed me off, was really looking forward to that scene.

And like @AronDracula said, ANF isn’t canon to me either
Oh i bet they have removed the S2 credits songs. All about money and if they pay rights to play them then i bet they have
Lee’s eyes look ridiculous! Just...no!

It's almost like they could have put in some effort in renewing the license considering this is a remastered game.
But no that's impossible right!!!

Looks like somebody has been doing their homework.
Did you read my comment at all? I acknowledge it had to be removed - my point is that excuse doesn't make it immune to critcism.
Technically that's true, but it's still worse than the original game, not an upgrade.
Unless you look at the background environments. That's where the REAL improvements are.
The lighting and shadows system are stupidly made. They also downgraded some details.

I thought this was a topic talking about ANF's character models and weird filters at first.
But--Ooh! Ssss...yeah, that looks...pretty bad...!

Huh. They did increase the model polycount.
Oh i know, i deliberately bolded “hung” just in reference to what KSDIS1 said, i meant it deliberately lol
Fuck yeah, Randall!
I do not see anything different in graphics, just improved lighting.
Glad I paid $50 for a more rounded hat. No Idea how I would have lived without that.
why'd you change your avatar, man? Actually that's a good fit too, but it's gonna weird to see
I'd like to talk about it, but then again it's beating a dead horse at this point
I wonder if they improved any of the flaws from season 1 like Clem's weird nose quivering in episode two, Kenny's marionette jaw or other awkward jerky bits? Probably not.
I would think that if you adjusted the brightness just a little bit it wouldn't be THAT bad. Works with other remastered games.
I'm kind of mixed about it, some scenes are definite improvements whilst others not so much...

im the idiot who spent 50 dollars on this game

Game sales are terrible, I see the remaster as a quick way to get funds for their future projects.
