Too Soon For The Finale Season?
The Walking dead Season 2 release date was in 2013. Season 3 release date was in 2016. That is 3 years later then season 2. Season 4 will be released in 2018. That means it will 2 years later be released then season 3. Isn't that a bad idea? The Walking Dead Season 3 was a mediocre game so how are they going to make this finale season good if it has less development time then season 3. Not to mention they also have their hands on the Wolf Among us. Which also has to be good. And the last episode of Batman.

Honestly, I want it to be released late 2019 by the very least.
A thread mentioned this but telltale needs to go all out on this game since their reputation is riding on it.
I also want it to be released in 2019. The game has to be amazing.
On the other side, TWD S1s release was 2012, with the last episode releasing about 13 months before S2s first, and S2 was vastly superior to ANF and it's 3 year wait. What the game needs is more focus, less writers, and less insistence from people who don't know what the hell they're doing making the third game in a series newcomer friendly with a new protagonist, sidelining main characters, and forcing as few references to the previous games as possible.
Anf didn't take 3 years to be made smh I'm pretty sure they started working on it mid 2016. It had no effort so what's the difference now?dw it's the same.
Youre probably right. Tftb, Got and Batman also came out in those 3 years. So heres hoping those 2 years are enough for Telltale to make an amazing game.
My question for that one has always been why would they not had been working on A New Frontier few months after season two? If walking dead is there top selling game? They actually made those other titled games first priority or something? It definitely showed in the end that they only worked on it for like half a year. Perhaps this could mean season 4s story will be okay and yet laden with the most glitches.
Only time will tell...but don't expect anything memorable without the main cast. They have a lot of redeeming cards like Christa and lily...but even with bringing them back we need top quality writing and storyline that these writers obviously don't have.
If Telltale worked on Anf a few months after season 2. Maybe Tftb wouldn't have been so great.
Hubris, maybe. After the success of the first 2 TWD games they really latched onto using major franchises trying to replicate their success instead of building on it. When they finally do return to it, it's a half assed attempt assuming people would eat it up solely because a sequel was requested. Half a year might be a generous amount of time to assume they worked on what we got, Job stated Junes E3 reveal was just a loose idea of what they were thinking of. 6 months before the game released, all they had was "yea, something like this." Smh.
You didn’t mention the difference of the first two. Season 1 came out in 2012 and season 2 in 2013 and it was still a good game. Maybe it is too early though.
It's too early. It's the big thing, so it needs to be properly taken care of. Maybe it would be even better if the devs did take a break and then came back with everything sorted, having a fresh opinions on the matter.
For all those people who think you need a long development for a good game is not the case, look how A New Frontier turned out I have a feeling that The Final Season will turn out great, I know it will have a short development but I think that Telltale are putting more effort into the game and will have a designated storyline on where it’s headed to. Like A New Frontier on the other hand, every Episode had a bad rewrite and the team didn’t know what to do with the game, which was sad as the game had a great potential. I would of liked at least a Episode 6 to wrap Javier’s story, example finding Joan/Clint, dealing with them, the family you have and other people you have saved. Instead of intersecting with Clementine’s sorry which will most likely damage it due to the fact The A New Frontier characters have a bad reputation of having lack of character development and screen time.
But that was when Telltake still had their shit together. Now they obviously don't, because a lot of the old writers left the company
To answer the title directly, a fair mass would argue it didn't end soon enough.
I admit that I kinda half expected them to make about six seasons(which would've meant eleven different installments if the rate stayed consistent), given that it's "the game series that [supposedly] put them on the map" or whatever, but that would've been an unrealistic drag if the rate stayed consistent.
Fair enough.
The game could take 19 years to develop and still end up being complete garbage. If telltale is putting genuine quality work and effort into the product with a clear direction (unlike ANF) which they have fortunately then i don't mind it coming out this year. Just because it takes longer to come out doesn't mean it will be better as shown by ANF which came out around 2-3 years after S2.
It is true that time is important. However, time alone is not enough to make a good game. They can manage to come out with an amazing Final Season as long as they focus on what they have to and work hard to perform it the right way.
When I heard that the upcoming season would be the last, I am still a little upset, feeling it should still have a couple more seasons. But then it occurred to me, what if they turn out like A New Frontier or given to writers whom haven't written to one script of the game.
Perhaps it finally ending is a good thing. SO long as much thought is going to go into it.
Lol the finale game will be a pile of shit even if they worked on it until 2020. Telltale’s games are crap nowadays and i am surprised anyone still falls for their bullshit but hey ho each to their own
I somewhat disagree with that statement granted GOTG was quite terrible on the flip side of that i believe S2 of Batman has been pretty good for a sequel and a few games in the past 3-4 years have been pretty consistent in good quality. I know a lot of fans have loss faith in Telltale or given up (rightfully so to an extent) after ANF, GOTG, and the recent Minecraft series. With that said from an optimistic viewpoint it could be good or decent if they actually put genuine and passionate work into the finale.
On average they develop their games for only about 6 months before releasing the first trailer.
No way they developed a thing before that.
I'm guessing we'll get more news around April with a teaser in May leading to the more heavy promotion of EP1 in the summer.
I don’t know how Telltale are going to release The Walking Dead in the summer with The Wolf Among Us and another new game? Seriously though sounds like they are going to rush their games again.
The even numbered major installment of the Walking Dead Game coming out alongside The Wolf Among Us? Deja Vu.
Not that I really care at the moment, anyway.
lmao what if they were like "k so episode 1 is 3 hours long, ep 2 is coming out a week after and we have an episode 6 written by the same guy who wrote season 1 episodes." this forum would be dead as nobody would have anything to complain about.
WE ALL ACTUALLY DESERVE THIS, WE WENT THROUGH HELL IN A NEW FRONTIER.
As they say, GOOD SHIT DOESN'T HAPPEN IN THE LAND OF THE DEAD
S4 running alongside Wolf 2. Just like S2 got fucked over for wolf1 (and borderlands). Deja Vu for sure. All we need is Borderlands 2 so we can relive the year 2013/2014 all over again.
Keep dreamin'
Are the batman episodes 2 hour+ long? Is there lengthy gameplay, puzzles and plenty of hubs? Can you talk to characters and ask them questions etc? Im asking because i have no idea as i haven’t played them. If they bring these things back, i may play their games again but i highly doubt it. Their games for me haven’t been outstanding since TWD S1.
That’s exactly why their games are shit nowadays. 2012 and before that year, they made 1 game at a time and just look at the difference in quality! That is why Telltale have been a sinking ship since 2013 onwards. Naughty Dog only work on one game. I know they’re a much bigger company than TT but the point is, all the focus goes into that one game. They take years to release their games but they are always excellent, unlike Telltales these days. Sorry, it’s my opinion but people cannot deny their games have been getting worse. Heck, they aren’t even games lately, just sitting at the computer watching cutscenes and choosing a few dialogue choices which probably don’t matter and you get given one or 2 small areas of actual playing time.
That is why i will never purchase one of their “games” again.
I thought season 2 was a nice ending point for the series, especially with all the endings. But since the endings were sabotaged, they need to make a good conclusion.
Season 4 is going to be just as bad as ANF.
Theres really nothing much else to say, ANF really killed Telltale's Walking Dead. Season 1 ends, everyone is dead or unknown but Clem. Season 2 comes, the only character from season 1 to have any real impact is Kenny, ANF comes and now all ties to the past games are gone and just makes some mess of a story that clearly had no idea what it was going for the second the first 2 eps were released.
I mean season 4's plot is going to be what exactly? Clem goes to find AJ in a farm a few miles North of Richmond! That right there is already a huge warning sign that for them to stretch this out into a full 5 episode season, a whole lot of nonsensical bullshit is going to happen.
This.
I think they should wait atleast about a half year until they even start to produce the new game. I mean, they really should increase their ideas and writing skills before they even think about making the final season. Otherwise it ends up like A New Frontier and nobody, I mean absolutely NOBODY wants a season with such a bad quality as ending of such an actually great game.
Am I the only one who actually loved A New Frontier? I thought it was great, plus they aren't going to be working on The Wolf Among Us. I've liked all if The Walking Dead seasons apart from the side one of Michonne. I have high hopes for Season 4 with them bringing back an old writer.
This series is pretty much dead. Might as well get it over with and focus on something that can still be good.
Great... Now every time I look at you I'll be reminded of that disturbing pic. If only I didn't need my eyeballs to read.
...Disturbing pic?
