What's left for Clem after TFS?

The idea probably doesn't have much substance for it to be a long-lasting thread, but let's say no matter what happens, no matter the choice, Clementine survives. What's left for her in TWD universe? I doubt they're just gonna make this her last appearance EVER. So does anyone think she could be converted into the comics? Or the show? And if you do, how do you think they'd do it? What would you like to see? And if not, why? I personally do think she'll be at LEAST referenced towards in the comics.

  • Idk but what Iwould like to see is a spin off comic of TWD with Clem, bring the main character.

  • I mean, they could, but there's only so much you can do with a thirteen year old girl, y'know? I hope they do Clem justice. I do. Season 3 was good, but no matter how you played any season, Clementine behaves like a mini Jane, and it sucks. I hope she's a little different. I just replayed all seasons and made sure Clementine didn't kill a soul, and in season 3, she just heartlessly kills people. It's in defense, but y'know..

I say to not make her story gimmicky, and more degraded than it already is, leaving her story off without any tie-ins to the comics or anything else would be the best way for her to go. Just have her vanish, like an old folktale, while we still think of her as a memorable character.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE her character and I would want to see her story continue, but I have a feeling that Clem's peak of story arc has come and passed, and it should be put to rest, for good.

  • They destroyed the whole "My Clem" thing. I really liked season 3, but it was Javi's story. Clem had do appropriate place. I wish they didn't tarnish their baby, TWD. They were onto something and then lost it.

Yes, it's sad to see what it could've been and have it end up the way it did. But it's best not to prolong the suffering, and end it.

  • Hopefully her story just...ends.

Nothing goes on forever, everything has to end. To just keep milking Clem is dumb, and implementing her into the comics would mean somewhere out there is a "cannon" Clem which just ruins everything about how its "our" Clem. Clem had pretty decent closure in Season 2 where we see Clem where we the player got her and where we the player best think she belongs. Then ANF came and wanted that sweet sweet Clem cash grab and ruined her story, just for them to make one last season to try and fix the mess they did with Clem. So Im really hoping Season 4 is the last time we see Clem, even if she lives. Hopefully Telltale doesnt mess up again and finds a good closure and will just leave Clem's story to end on a high note.

  • I'm not sure, but they should really give the kid a vacation. Let her find a beach house or something - I think it's safe to say she's earned it after all this time.

  • They will either kill her off (which I kind of doubt), end it with her going back to Richmond to live (or perhaps Oceanside), or leave her story open for Kirkman to bring into the comic (this might be another longshot as I think Kirkman likes to stick with characters he has created).

I think they will likely just bring her back to Richmond.

  • Just let her story end in the final season and call it a day. Contrary to what people might think, you don't need to make Clementine's story span out til she's gray haired in her 60's or younger. Just let her story end in the final season in a hopefully well written and deserved ending rather than desperately dragging her story out "cause it's clementine" which would just ruin the character and squander any "fitting end" they could write after so long of dragging her story out. I hope with the last season it is the last of Clementine since i believe she's come as far as she can and needs to.

I would hate it if Clementine was converted into the comics. While the choices in these games don't always make much of a difference as to how the story goes you do have a decent control over the personalitiy of the main playable character. By the time the final season is done there will be so much of her personality that has been altered by the players it would be utterly stupid for her to be in the comics. The only way she could be in the comics at all without it being completely stupid would be if you can notice her in the background of a scene with AJ or something as a little easter egg. Even then, they couldn't focus in on her design because she can determinantly get different scars and what not. Seeing that this is the last season I hope Telltale goes all out on the choices and makes multiple branched out endings similar to season 2 but a little more fleshed out. (This is all assuming she doesn't get killed off.) After the final season I think it's best to rely on head-cannons and fan-fictions for the rest.

  • I honestly have no idea how her story is gonna end,i'm hoping she's not in the comics and we have different endings (sacrifice, alive at Richmond, something like that..) and i'm really hoping there's at least a tragic death for her.Not just a good ending where she goes to Richmond and it's over.

  • Nothing. Hate to say it but Season 2 endings brought some closure that Season 3 kinda threw out the window. Her arc's peaked sadly as someone above said. There's nothing left except for AJ, Kenny's hat,Christa,Lily to be worked into the plot somehow and end the series on a high note.

  • Fanfiction, I assume

  • Honestly, I just want Clem's story to end after Season 4, as I feel that Season 1 set up too many romanticized expectations for fans of where Clem's story could go. Season 1 felt like a genuinely good ending for Clem's story, and I feel that - from Season 2 onward - the Clem-oriented stories felt like a continuation created mainly because people liked her character from Season 1, as opposed to a continuation that was motivated out of genuine "long term" planning for future story elements.

A lot of people during Season 2 felt that some of the plot was a bit "aimless" in terms of a main goal for the Season 2 plot line, and A New Frontier gave off the impression that Clem was mainly included to attract more players. Season 4, going off of what little we know, seems to have this to some extent too, as the general plot seems to boil down to "An evil doctor took AJ and sent him off to a farm! Find AJ!!!" - despite the fact that Season 2 tried to push the nihilistic theme of knowing when to let the "liabilities" in a group go.

It feels like Telltale have been approaching stories mainly from the perspective of finding opportunities for Clem to be featured more after Season 1, as opposed to genuinely letting the story unfold organically, if that makes sense.

  • Hopefully it's done after this season. ANF may have done irreparable damage to that character, we'll just have to see how it plays out this time around. I do think the concepts of the endings for S2 were good, just too poorly executed to end the overall story on. I don't know if this was the result of so many endings or because they intended to return to the series, but I found them to be, overall, way too brief. Considering, if not the actual place but the idea of, Wellington was the goal since we'd made the time jump to the campfire with Christa, that two of the endings simply end at the gates, one has her wandering alone with a baby, and one ends confronting a suspect group, the wrap ups felt overly brief and didn't really answer much. I'm hoping they go more in depth with however they choose to end her story.

And barring TT going back, this will very likely be the end. IIRC Kirkmans last response on the subject was a definitive no to her making an appearance in the comics, I doubt she'd show up in the show, it's already got enough work juggling it's current roster.

I like what some have said about ending the season on multiple endings. Since TTG confirmed that this is the end of the Clementine story arc, having true multiple endings that really are impacted by choices will be nice to finally see. The file size of the last episode should be a good indicator if we indeed are getting that. But until then, all we can do is wait for information (and the game to be released).

Hate to say it but nothing. I love her as a character but they need to let her go. They needed to let her go at the end of s2, but they decided to keep her in s3. Now Kenny or Jane has had a stupid death and they almost ruined my view of Clem.

  • She has nothing left. Leaving her with a baby only was a bad decision in my point of view. I wanted her to be friends with Sarah and be the sole survivors of their groups or better yet, stay with Kenny all the way to the end. AJ won't even grow up because the games cannot get passed the comic book timeline. Clementine saving AJ and living a happy ending will be predictable and CLICHED as fuck.

I want to see characters in Season 4 that should be friends with her, that includes a good character development. I never liked anyone in A New Frontier except Javi.

But it would have been better if the story just ended in Season 2.

  • Nothing, honestly. Her story is coming to an end. We don’t know if she’ll live or die (I’d have her star alive). I guess it’s up to you to think what happens to her after TFS.

  • @Jayroen you better come back and keep making your comics when this is done.
It's the best stuff I've seen since maybe Ties that Bind part 1

If not, you posted how to make them... I'd run that shit into the ground

  • Despite that many people think that Clementine may have to die for a definitive end for her story I think otherwise. I think that the best ending and my preferred ending is where Clementine and AJ make it back to Richmond and live happily with Javier and the surviving members of the Garcia family from A New Frontier

  • Are you sure you would be happy with that? Just Clem gets back to Richmond, introduces them all to AJ, and The End? This is a Telltale game were talking about. Without the conflict there's nothing to make the story special. (Even though we want her to have a happily ever after) It just wouldn't feel right for it all to end peacefully given everything we've seen her go through. I feel for it to realistically happen that way they would need to find a cure and show us a few months/years later with Clem adjusted to the new world, reminiscing about the past for a moment, then getting back to her life.

Or I guess I could settle with something like this if we have a flash forward and seeing her have a Job at Richmond and coming back to a more grown up AJ. They meet up at the park and then someone starts to threaten someone else's life, via knife or gunpoint, and the camera focuses behind Clem with her holding AJ's hand as they both look at the scene. You see a gun in her back pocket, and she slowly reaches for it as it cuts to black.

  • I would be happy with that. I would love to see some conflict within this Season. However I do not think that Clementine dying is a fitting end to her story despite the Universe that it is based in. The TV Show and Comics show the dark, gritty and hopeless side of the apocalypse. The game was also taking this approach in earlier Seasons. However I feel that the game shows the hopeful side to the apocalypse and how important it is to retain your humanity in a world where it is forgotten. Clementine deserves a happy ending. I think it would be terrible for her story to be built up for 4 Seasons for her to die in the end. I get that that adds some emotional weight to her loss but it just isn't right to me. And thank you for taking the time to write a very well written response

  • If you say so. :D

And seeing it from this point of view, I think this may also be a better way to end her story, too. It just needs to be cut off at the right time.

  • Hopefully closure.

Either give her a hard earned "happy" ending or the heartbreaking death that people have suspected of happening. Either way just give her character and arc proper closure and don't ruin her even further by shoehorning her into the comics. Seriously, it's such a bad idea to put her in the other mediums, some of yall need Jesus.

  • I still think having a leave AJ vs. keep AJ choice would be the best way to end the arc. Keep AJ and you finally give Clem the family she wants. The downside is that no only did you take him away from someone else who helped raise him and leave them in severe emotional despair, your selfish action leaves a bad impression on the people at McCarrol ranch resulting in a potential enemy with Richmond. Leaving AJ results in you playing a pivotal role in giving Richmond a new ally in this world and helped give hope and (literally) life to a group of people. The downside is that Clem returns to Richmond alone, heart broken, and essentially giving up on ever having a family.

Have the family you've always wanted but have to always look over your shoulder for the rest of your life or finally have safety and shelter but at the cost of being emotionally and psychologically distraught for the rest of your life?

Now that I think about it, this would be interesting as the Garcias would react to the Clem that returns, especially in relation as to what advise you told Javi to give to Clem. It can also reflect the whole Gabe/Clem dynamic. Clem with AJ shows feeling towards Gabe again (or some other teen if Gabe is dead your ANF playthrough). Clem without AJ returns as a hollow shell; no emotions, no tears. Just cold and going through the motions.

Imagine one of the biggest complaint about ANF being "We dont play as Clem" so Telltale goes "ok you play as Clem 100%" and she dies and gets replaced lmao

  • The whole idea of Clem dying and being replaced mid season simply wont happen, I doubt DOUBT Telltale isnt that stupid (Although I think we've all said that before and welp) but seriously this just wont happen, its the dumbest thing you could possibly do. Not only is it a bad send off for an iconic character, considering one of their games controversies was not playing as this character, and all the lies leading up to release, to then lie and say "you play as Clem" then for her to die and be replaced, just makes everyone hates you. That would literally be lying before release plus going back to playing as someone the players dont want to play as.

  • Clem can continue to be the roll we need her to be which is a secondary plot device. We could move to AJ's story or something like that to drive the plot forward. We don't have a need for Richmond, but I'm done with show and comic fan service when we have game service. Why keep killing people off! Imagine in this season if you ran into someone from Part 1 that didn't die? I don't know, it really bugs me how they off everybody.
