I find it funny that...

Whenever Clementine acts like a F-ing savage by telling people off, Fans think it's hilarious; and when 9-year-old Clem made mistakes such as going after her Parents (Which indirectly gets Lee killed) Fans forgive her. But THEN when you look at a MALE character doing some of the exact same things that Clem did (Carl for instance) people HATE them with a Burning Passion. Does that sound a little bit STRANGE to anyone else? Or is it Just Me?

She's a girl and she's cute.... lol. Real life works in similar ways sometimes. Sometimes girls can et away with certain things (as long as they're not too terrible) because they're cute. In this case, I think it has even more to do with the fact that we've basically watched her grow up through the story so we feel an attachment to her and are willing to let her get away with certain things in ANF... or at least, that's how I feel about it. xD
Agreed. I was thinking that, too.
Finally someone said it.
Indeed. There IS truth to that if you look at it from a Psychological Standpoint.
Probably has a lot to do with the differences in the 2 forms of media. When watching a TV show we're simply witnesses to the story but when playing a game we are involved in the story. As mere witnesses, we view everything with a certain clarity that is lost when we actually become part of the story. When we play a game and become directly involved in the story, we are much more likely to form attachments to characters and accept them as they are, flaws and mistakes included, without being super critical.
Additionally, to use your Clem vs Carl example, Clem was deceived and taken advantage of by a psychopath. Carl was just wandering off being a little shit all on his own. He wasn't tricked into it, he did it of his own volition, and then he bitched out and ended up causing Dale's death.
But to be fair, Carl was a victim of the subpar writing of TWD tv series.
I don't find that funny. I find that typical.
I agree, it's a lot easier to judge characters when you are merely observing than when you are involved in the story.
Im pretty sure most people found Clem's "edgy back talk" to be something that killed her character.
Eventually, at least.
I have never hated TV Carl and don't see why others did, I can see why with Gabe though because he was a bit annoying and bothersome to imitate his dad I guess. I also never actually enjoyed Clem's little Ms. "Menace To Society" attitude depicted in New Frontier. I found it so far out of character compared to how she was in S1 and S2 that she could be taken as the abrasive doppelganger for the real Clementine.
I expect them to tone down this attitude if it isn't approved of with the majority of fans in S4 though.
On another note females in general tend to get more passes for similar transgressions. Most saved Carly over Doug even though Doug appeared to be in the more dire situation. If Clem was male or replaced with Gabe during that Eli incident.. would Tripp had been more inclined to talk about hangings like he ought to of been, if he's holding up community law?
Yep, turns out double standards exist.
Even so, differing circumstances and personalities are going to drastically change how the viewer judges two seemingly identical actions. It's not always just their gender alone that determines how a character's actions are received, though it can be a contributing factor.
Clementine's writing in ANF completely escaped what was built during seasons 1 and 2, under the pretext of 'emotional growth'. The scene involving Eli may have been totally disproportionate, since what we had on the scene was a rabid character, something that does not fit with Clem's personality. At least I think.
This. FUCKING this!
