Anyone already hating the upcoming bandwagon love for ANF?
I loved A New Frontier from the moment I bought and played it on my computer a few months ago, and had a blast in the entire season.
Now i'm starting to see backtracking and some folks on here are starting to love it.

Well I can only promise you my own consistency. ANF was the video game equivalent of having your face rubbed into dog shit.
ANF was not the worst game ever but if you compare ANF to the previous two seasons, ANF pales in comparison. The first two seasons had better choices that are more meaningful, characters you care about and better character development than ANF.
But this forum hated Season 2 as well
Worst part is that I don't understand why people love ANF. I don't want to change opinions, just wanna know the reasons.
I may be out of the loop on this, but can you show where this backtracking is occurring?
I feel like the same thing happened with Season 2 after ANF came out
Besides the plot holes and the shitty way they treated the S2 endings, i love the game
Yeah I understand the criticism for the handling of the season 2 endings, but besides that I thought ANF was fine. In my opinion episodes 3 and 4 of ANF are some of the best episodes in the series.
I haven't seen that much "backtracking" on hate for ANF. I think most people who said they didnt like it before are still saying they dont like it.
Don't pretend that there hasn't been dozens of threads explaining why. Just accept that that you don't agree.
Yes TWD Season 2 had its own problems as well. The way episodes were done in season 2 were not as good as the first season. Pacing was all over the place, the situations clementine was in was sometimes ridiculous and the characters were not as memorable as the characters from season 1. However, when you look at Season 2's ratings and opinions on steam and youtube, the ratings are either overwhelmingly positive or mostly positive. So most people who played season 2 liked the game unlike ANF where its ratings range from mostly positive to mixed reception.
I do think the forums are getting a bit more cynical on both sides right now with the earlier no point post. And this is coming from some one who has thrown some shade at ANF. Lets all just take a step back and look towards TFS
This isn't happening this time I'm afraid. I really enjoyed a new frontier, but I can see why people dislike it. I can't understand though why its the worst thing ever made in existence, but at least why its not so well received among specifically the telltale community (I know about the steam ratings but its still a 70% over the probably 30% here). Either their being ironic or the next season is so bad to them that new frontier looks good by comparison. Eh. Haven't been disappointed yet so I'm gonna keep trucking on.
I've enjoyed every season. All in the order they came out. That said, ANF is not without an overabundance of problems and poor decisions. The most I can say about ANF was....They tried it. I give them praise for that. But it didn't work. But that's not to say ANF didn't have some great set pieces. The talk on the roof with David. The flashback at the beginning of Episode 5 with Javi, David and their dad was the best and I really felt the message in it. And some great character dialogue moments in Ep 5's down time like David's explanation for putting AJ somewhere else, Gabe talking with Javi, some nice giggle moments. Talking to Clem about things she doesn't understand (her first time of the month in Ep 4), "Lucilling" Badger, etc.
ANF was fun if nothing else. That's what I enjoyed. But it wasn't a well written joyride.
this forum hates everything telltale makes
Look, it's the drama club
Too many characters, 95% of whom were hugely unlikable. Lazy, cheaply written send-offs for two crucial people (Kenny & Jane). Irrelevant gameplay decisions. A narrative that's set in stone, even more so than the previous two seasons. A psychotic, one-note hot-head jerkwad (David) who Telltale kept trying to sell as a morally ambiguous friend/villain along the lines of The Joker, and failed every time. Problematic style & character designs. Javi & Clem kept saying something entirely different from the dialogue choices you clicked on.
It goes on, and on. I'm not sure what happened, but Telltale's going to have to work overtime to cure the cynicism left behind by ANF.
It’s probably because every dialogue option that you could choose as Javier matches my play style, as well as the fact that his slate is clean so I can choose to be a dick, funny, cool, etc. Whereas Clementine kinda shoehorns us into being kind and the moral compass (otherwise it kinda takes away the magic of her character) and we sort of have to be the same with Lee in order to set an example to clem, but I can do anything and everything with Javier.
I also found the combat to be much more compelling and satisfying than the previous 2 games (season 1 was mainly click once and dead and season 2 wasn’t visually pleasing because it was an 11 year old girl fighting zombies and she wasn’t exactly powerful)
There’s also the general dialogue spoken and how different, yet the same, each character was (such as Tripp’s shit my nuts and how he’s like a mixture of Kenny and Abraham, two beloved characters).
I also liked it because it was a fresh move and the concept hadn’t been covered in telltale’s the walking dead before (season 1 and season 2 were both survive with a group, everyone dies or goes missing aside from Clementine and a member or two from the same group who end up going missing or dying anyway, and then a brief encounter with an antagonist group for 1 episode where the good guys triumph and move on, whereas a new frontier focuses on saving an entire community and fighting for the rights of others, as well as your group.
Finally there’s gabentine. Watching Gabe trying to pick up clem and Javier noticing in episode 2, forgetting about it and then acting shocked in episode 4 when Kate mentions it was just hilarious despite it looking like the writers forgot what they previously established on Javier and how much he knew about what was going on.
Uh, where the hell are you seeing that?
Cause besides me(who still considers it to be ultimately the weakest yet), there's only, like, five people who've said they enjoyed it and in some cases, prefer it to Season 2.
They couldn't have made a worse ending for Jane and Kenny.
But of course. It wasn't Season 1 and certain people are always eager to hate the next big thing.
Uh...you mean in terms of direction or variation?.
Da FUCK did you just write.?
I actually really do like Season 3, despite the... ahem, SEVERAL issues it had. I liked Javi, I thought he was really cool and well written. The rest of the writing though could use quite a bit of work. I see where everyone's complaints are coming from, and I get it, but it didn't stop me from enjoying ANF at all.
Hey Gabe.
Oh, hey.
You know, what you back there was pretty impressive.
Mr. Smooth! Makes his move!
Okay, for a second there, I thought you were talking about Gabe.
Also, I was gonna clarify Javier and Eleanor meant a platonic "someone his own age to talk to" type thing, but then I remembered the hub conversation afterwards.
And this summer we’re putting on a production of “everything you love sucks” stop on by all the proceeds go towards stopping Marlon from cos playing as Ragnar from Vikings.
ANF was my least favorite season and I feel like it broke a lot of the flow of the past two seasons but I still enjoyed it. It's not as bad as people make it out to be. So many people on these forums have the mindset of "If it's not season 1, it's trash." Funny thing is, everyone likes to hate on everything that has come out since season 1, yet they keep coming back to play these games and spend time on the forums.
I honestly don't understand the hate for The Final Season already there's like NOTHING,we don't know anything about the season we've got what ? A leaked footage of 40 seconds, they talked about a boarding school and some kids.
Like seriously wait for the trailer at least lol.
Detach yourself and let life go. who knows what the comments will be when TFS is released?
