I didn't keep up with their later albums, but Fallen was definitely the CD someone would play while brushing their hair out of their eyes in the rain. Possibly skipping ahead to My Immortal before doing so lol
I think its going to work out well for several reasons. It's a fresh take on groups in the apocalypse. The adults-who-lose-everything trop… moree is way too overdone, it will be refreshing to see a group of kids who have either adapted to the apocalypse or been born into it. And like you said, they're going to need some damn good explanations for how they survived this long. This means that they will actually be given backstories and motivations, unlike freaking Tripp and Francine and all the other generic ANF characters.
I’m getting reminded of the book called The Enemy. Basically everybody over the age of 14 or 13 died or turned into zombies. It left this large groups of kids holding up in a supermarket where a number of them would would go out on supply runs once the food in the store began running out, and I believe one of the kids was designated the doctor to treat injuries best she could, despite only knowing what she did from reading about it in books.
In another book of that same series a bunch teen guys were hold up in a school and had to leave because the dead adults kept attacking every night and had almost destroyed the barricades. They came across some other kids in a museum, one of whom the leader later got a dog, but as it turned out in a later book he was going blind and that’s why he needed the dog, but didn’t want to tell nobody in case they tried to put him from leadership. Meanwhile you had these cases of one adult that was turning and ended up killing his son by squeezing the life out of him and attacked the other kids in this coach. One French girl who was secretly 15 and was scared of turning, eventually got cast out because she couldn’t control her urges and tried killing one boy and even bit off her own thumb to get free of being handcuffed by the others.
Then there was this group of kids in a church who became deluded about a lamb and it’s shadow that would save them. They breathed in too much smoke, because they set up a fire to keep warm inside the church, but didn’t have any windows or doors open so the other group from the school finds them passed. They would’ve died if they hadn’t shown, but if was their cult like belief that nearly put all their lives in danger and I believe some died.
Every time an encounter with the zombies that happened it was genuinely scary when it was just these kids having to fend them off, and it was set in England so they didn’t always have guns. Without any adults there they just had to figure out how to fend for themselves. And by no means did the author shy away from killing the kids off. You’d be following a few kids and then bam one just got chopped in the head by a zombie adult with a weapon, another would died from an infection from a zombie bite, or one getting dragged into a pool by the adults or dying from accidentally getting shot by another kid. There’s this one incident where this guy’s friend is knocked out cold during an attack and he can’t carry him, and he has no choice but to leave him while the zombies go for his friend. The sad part is if I remember correctly this one other kid could’ve helped with carrying the unconscious one out with him, but he bailed out of fear....I think. It’s been so long now since I read it lol. But yeah they were really good books that I hope they do a movie on them someday and i’d recommend them for any zombie fans.
So this kind of premise of orphaned kids banding together to survive such harsh circumstances in a ZA, it might actually work pretty well if it’s pulled off correctly. But we’ll just have to wait and see I guess if that turns out to be true.
The new cast of kids reminds me of the cast from The Goonies, IT film or Stranger Things if they approaching these new characters like them, Telltale will have backlash.
The new characters could be those shadows of the poster of ANF behind Javier and Clem, it seems that the fourth season is already being planned since 2014, and it also seems that the fourth season should have been the third season, ANF was a nothing.
With as many rewrites and lack of direction ANF had coupled with all of the scrapped/modified changes, I strongly doubt they had planned anything this far.
I'd argue they didn't even have S4 with Clementine in mind until near the end of ANF.

Simple yes or no question, are there people that feel this way, that anything Telltale does is wrong and should be criticized?
No.
Yes, Ever since ANF released I've met a lot of people who have been nothing but critical (by the negative) of Telltale since then, but these feelings are absolutely not without warrant. Believe it or not, people have legitimately been disappointed with what Telltale has been releasing! I do want to believe that, if actually presented with a good product (something which may or may not even happen, mind you) people will swallow their pride and admit it is so. Sure, it may not be immediate, but it's just counterproductive to publicly hate something you, in truth, enjoy. No one rational would subscribe to such a mentality for long.
People greatly underestimate how much of the previously passionate TT'sTWD fan is motivating these people to be so negative and critical of Telltale.
But you're taking a comment that was not directed at you personally and taking it personally, so yeah, it is you imagining things. Simple ye… mores or no question, are there people that feel this way, that anything Telltale does is wrong and should be criticized?
I'd love to live in the world you're living in, but that's just plain not true. The fact is that there are a group of people that will shit on everything Telltale does, regardless of what it is, and there are different reasons for this. One is because they have become so disenfranchised with some of their recent decisions that nothing they do anymore is right in their eyes. I like to think most will be able to swallow their pride if proven wrong, but it has gotten to the point where others simply won't, and even if Telltale does something they've been asking for, they'll whine and complain that it's too little too late because their animosity for them is so deep rooted that they can't use actual reasoning to see that maybe they're wrong.
I have never said people can't be critical of Telltale, why would I ever say that, especially with how much I have criticized games like ANF and Minecraft, or how the company operated under Bruner. I've been very harsh on Telltale both during and after ANF, but I can also see when they're making concerted efforts to change and approach these things from an objective and reasonable standpoint. The thing is there is justifiable and reasonable criticism, and then there's blind hatred and suffering from Telltale Derangement Syndrome, and there are people that fall into the latter category. You can say they don't exist and believe that everyone fits into the former category, but that's just not true. The majority, sure, but not everyone.

Cant wait until season 4 starts and everyone hates on the teen characters and then suddenly start saying Gabe was a good character just like what happened with Sarah and Ben.
But on a serious note im gonna believe that season 4 s actually gonna be good if the story is as good as Batman season 2
Hopefully the younger characters will feel like real people like Ben, Russell and Becca and not too over the top and cartoonish (Gabe and se… moreason 3 version of Clementine). I'm already skeptical about the guy with the dog.
I trust they would have a good explanation of how he's managed to keep a dog alive, safe and well fed this deep into the apocalypse. I don't really like these type of gimmicks anyway but I don't wanna judge the guy's character on one picture.
That's what I was also hoping, finding Clementine a friend like Sarah but those new kids look weird and untrustworthy. I hope Telltale doesn't give us reasons to hate them.
Since we're playing as Clementine I think it makes sense to have more characters in her age group so she can relate to them more. As much as… more I love season 2 the only character I felt that Clem could have a genuine friendship with was Sarah. I mean imagine if Lee was the protagonist in season 2 and he was just surrounded by kids leaving just one single character in his age group.
Though since so many people hate kids in games the concern doesn't surprise me. I'm just saying that I think it can work if they're all written well.
I hope everyone is right and the decision to make the cast of characters in this game (to at least start off with) people Clem's age or younger was done to explore a new concept not really done in the TWD universe before. However I personally worry the main reason for deciding to go in this direction was done so Clem could end up being one of the leaders of a group.
At this point I view Naughty Dog as being about a hundred times better at delivering a good zombie apocalypse style game than TellTale is. And I have a feeling that having a 'kid group' surviving 5 to 6 years into a ZA would be an idea they would drop practically before it even got any traction. They delivered a solid DLC in Left Behind where it was a game with just kids but in that they gave a solid and believable reason for having a game full of kid characters. In that they were kids who were growing up in a safe zone.
Not sure if this is a joke, but in case it's not:
Gabe and Marianna are nothing like Clem. They cannot survive on their own. These kids i… moren TFS are gonna be more like kids who have actually grown up in the Apocalypse and can actually take care of themselves, not whatever those two were.
Well, considering the stigma poor Gabe had stamped onto him, I wouldn't be
too surprised if that doesn't happen this time.
Though the interviewers teasing Ms. Hutchinson isn't exactly a very bright sign.

It looks like they're going for a "Clem and Da Gang" type setup with this cast, so I assume their overcompensating with her will be toned down.
With that said, there's bound to be something either about at least one of these kids or that they do in the story that might attract some amount of quibbling. Cause otherwise, that'd just be unrealistic at that point.
That's what I was also hoping, finding Clementine a friend like Sarah but those new kids look weird and untrustworthy. I hope Telltale doesn't give us reasons to hate them.

Not any of the characters shown, I'm just wondering what an evil post-apocalyptic kid villain would look like.
I'm sure the kid with the dog is going to be the new kenny, a belligerent anti-hero type. bet you he treats clem like a dick, maybe even a little racist, but in the end redeems himself doing something heroic (which may or may not get him killed). also he has an abusive redneck father to excuse his earlier racism towards clem.

Oh,okay. Honestly, part of the fun/appeal of the concept is coming up with an idea of what that might look like. And given that this is The Walking Dead, it could be anything if you're clever enough to make it work and/or feel natural.
For example, I always thought Michelle had the potential to be an good personal antagonist for Clementine and she expounded merocratic street philosophy while wearing a friggin cute, pink hoodie.

Yeah, sounds plausible. Especially Telltale can't seem to help themselves.

As long as said Kenny Sr. stays the fuck away from the plot, I'll try to tolerate it.

Uh, that's actually more plausible than you might think. Remember how Kenny talked about being away from his family for awhile, on his boat...?

If they can't handle complicated villains, give us some !well done! simple ones.
That's my mindset. Take us back to ground level, simplicity. Have another creepy guy stalk them like season 1.
Point is no crazy religious/fanatic leader-type boss villain.

I am open to a cast of teenagers. But again, there is always the possibility of it being a huge problem. Gabriel was a huge problem in ANF, I would dare say that made the experience terrible. The narrative urges us to care about him and that he is a capable survivor, but he was written very childish, immature and inexperienced. This didn't seem realistic considering the world that they live in. You have to grow up and mature pretty quickly, especially since the family has been on the road rather than joining a community. But I would have forgiven that if he was also sympathetic and endearing, which he wasn't from my perspective. I didn't felt sad when he died in my game, if anything his death came closer to being my catharsis.
But I know that Telltale can write a well-written teenage character that isn't annoying and can be endearing. I would say that Tiffany Fox from Batman The Enemy Within is a good example. Granted, she is probably a lot older, but she isn't far from being a teenager given her youth. I could understand her behavior during EP 1-3 given what happened. And her darker side in 4-5 is sympathetic and the game gave us option to show her a better path, which provide good development for her.
My point being is that a cast of teenagers can work and we can have a bunch of very interesting and likable characters; they are certainly more interesting compared to the ANF cast given what Telltale told us. But it can also be a huge problem because they can be very unlikable.

But Iv'e only ever met a handful of teenagers who are actually likable
STOP BEING SO TOXIC AND CLOSE MINDED!!!
