Why did Telltale decide to end the series with season 4?
It's their most popular and followed series, and Clem is simply one of the best characters in videogames.
Why ending it so soon? I mean we could see more of Clem's story, and watch her growing up even more till becoming a badass adult in the walking dead world.
I know they have other projects to work on and ideas, but I don't know... I'm not ready to say goodbye to Clem yet.

Telltale would rather work on IP’s like Minecraft and Gaurdians of the Galaxy. Telltale want to get The Walking Dead over and done with, which is weird considering Season 1 gave them the money what they have now. From what is clearly obvious, recent Walking Dead games have heavily gone down in quality, that’s how much Telltale care about The Walking Dead games. It’s all about the money, not what fans want or not to make a good quality game like Season 1.
In my maybe not so popular opinion, it should have just as well ended with Season 1. Not knowing what happens to Clementine is what left me thinking about the game for months (Had no clue season 2 was coming) and the game left a huge impact on me. The later seasons sadly didn't do much for me and I started losing my interest in the series, also kind of ruining the story of season 1 for me in a way. Better to end it sooner than later. The series just doesn't have the same appeal as it used to. It already feels sort of...dragged on.
I kinda agree on this, even if I liked every season except maybe a little less ANF.
I think here the problem is that Telltale "rushed" the characters development and didn't focus on just some of them, instead they made a lot of them being part of the story.
My guess is it was better if there were few characters but with a big development rather than a lot of characters with a, I don't wanna say bad development, but rushed seems like a good word to me, especially ANF.
It's Clem that makes the game alive and pleased, and I'm sad they are ending the series not rly much for the series itself, but for our Clem. Hope they will save her for the future at least...
Considering the fact that A New Frontier was such a flop and was rushed during development, Telltale has been running out of ideas and have no choice but to end Clem's story once and for all.
Season 1 got mediocre sequels that are disrespecting the GOTY 2012.
They simply don't have more fresh ideas for her charecter and story...we've seen their work for anf and it's showing (a war because of pudding).
This is an unpopular opinion but I feel it is due to Telltale wanting to end the Series while it is still loved by many rather than drag it on for more Seasons.
It's not necessarily the end of the series, it's the end of Clementines story. Which is a good decision imho. She deserves closure to her story and arc, not to be milked for every penny from season to season. I hope to see more standalone stories in this universe but I'm glad that Clementine will get closure.
Yeah we should end clem story and come up with new ones
You'd think as popular as it is we could expect seasons 6 or 7 of the games before they stopped. I always thought that as long as the comics timeline wasn't finished maybe the telltale games spin-off wouldn't be finished since they could not exceed the comic timeline. But it's likely because they can't afford to keep talented/genius writers aboard to keep the games afloat unlike the tv show and comics which are still going strong in spite of recent flops.
As much as people hate on S2, it was still one of their most successful games. ANF, not so much. They obviously tried to branch out and it fell flat on it's face, because you don't advertise a spinoff as a sequel. Ending Clementines arc will give freedom working on future games without forcing her into a story she has no place in again, and prevent the backlash of fans who have since moved on.
If I'm being quite frank, I've had a theory leading up to this that can cover not only The Final Season being what it is, but also the way every subsequent game were done: I believe Telltale just don't actually wanna do anything with Clementine or maybe even TWD anymore.
As far as I can tell, Telltale has always been a company that makes games based on popular IPs that are running at the time for the sake of topical fun. With Season 1 being Season 1, they unfortunately got pigeonholed into being primarily recognized for that and thus they structured many of their following games in similar styles, with an expectation of making more serious story-driven games and/or more Walking Dead games featuring Clementine. And from what I hear, that's partially led to them seemingly putting more effort and enthusiasm into their other games compared to the Walking Dead, which they were just kinda stuck doing because that's what a large number of people wanna buy.
Now granted, I'm also pretty sure most of those issues and their reflections are not for a lack of trying, mind you. There are clearly at least a decent number of Telltale employees who genuinely enjoy what they're doing and a lot of productivity goes into making the next Walking Dead Game as big and unique as possible, but unfortunately the collective production tends to waver and shed as time goes on due to any number of creative differences, resource deficits, and just plain fatigue with any of those 3 or 4 things, rendering a overall product that's not as fulfilling as it could've been. As it has often been said, there's a point where realizing that it's best to not run things into the ground is the wise decision-.
To zero in on the Baseball Capped Mascot herself, it's also noticeable that subsequent installments/Seasons tend to put less consistent focus on her compared to other characters(eg. Kenny; Jane; the Garcias) or omit her completely. And honestly, part of me thinks this is another example of popularity dedicating what must be vs. creative freedom to do as what feels like it'd be enjoyable. Whether by progressive falloff or intentional coincidence, Clementine is often given the veneer of having some major role and presence of her own as part of a continuing story, but generally just ends up being connected to characters with more driven characterization or actual relevance to what the current narrative is doing. Thus, it's entirely possible that the overall rut the game series has fallen into has convinced Telltale to just give what is generally viewed as the main character a final sendoff so they can either move on to freely doing their own thing, simply take a break without nagging demand, or get rid of her entirely.
there not ending the series just clems arc theyll likely do a spin off and follow new characters like fear the walking dead
You know, I'm not entirely sure that's the case
You'd think that if it was really about the money, they would keep milking their flagship series instead of concluding it
They tried that, and uncle Javi got slapped in the face with No. Closing the door on this isn't the worst idea if they've got no idea where to go, and honestly this should have been the third season if the only other option was make a new game, but for new people.
I honestly see ANF as a "filler", a sort of expansion, and The Final Season as the true third season.
It's really not cause we don't play as Clementine, but because the story per se is not focused on Clem, but on Javi and his family. Clementine is just in the game helping them, but only flashbacks are what the majority of people liked I think, cause it was about "Clem's Story", not about "another random guy story with who Clem just sided with for a few time".
Could be any combination of reasons. For one, I think with the new direction Telltale is going, they'd prefer to give the Walking Dead a proper and full ending rather than having a subpar season that offers little conclusion be the last one. Additionally, I think Telltale, with that new direction, wants to look at different games - you know, expand the horizons and what not. Hopefully they'll really pour their heart into it with choices and stuff.
It's not reaching previous highs
Last two sequels are terrible.
Sales going down.
Overall the toxicity around the game.
All previous characters are dead so not even a connection.
It's pretty obvious. It's the right decision it's not rocket science you dope.
Things just get old and stale after a while, and sadly I feel like all forms of Walking Dead lately has been getting stale, especially the show and game.
Sometimes its better to just end while youre ahead. ANF was complete garbage and would be one dull note to go out on, and I think Telltale has realized that it is probably for the best to try and make S4 the best finale they can do and then end the series.
A war because of a pudding !!!! kkkkkkkkkkkkkk
ANF is simply forgettable, it adds absolutely nothing to the series. A mere attempt to capture the action style of Michael Bay's Transformers films.
Bet the game below would be much better received... rsrsrrrr
