  • Well this is what the final game is gonna look like for sure. (most likely) However this scene wont be in the game.

I hope these beautiful graphics will be how the final game looks. Or if they can take it a step further and polish them a bit more would be worthy of applause.

  • I think that while those are good expectations I feel as if the "if it doesn't replicate what Season One does it will be considered a failure for me" thing is kind of an unfair statement to make. Don't get me wrong I hope The Final Season will be just as good as Season One but if it isn't it shouldn't be regarded as a failure.

  • Honestly guys, you can praise the game without shitting on ANF.

  • Well, it's certainly an improvement so far. I mean come on man. What else can I say?

  • So have we discussed that this os obviously ahead of the comics? In the comics it's about exactly 4 years in. Now let's look at the Telltale series After Season 1 Episode 1 then 3 months pass and then maybe a week or so for supplies to consistently go missing? and then 3 or 4 more days until Lee's death. The start of the season could've been on the first or second day really so let's say......3 months and 2 weeks for season 1. I'm gonna be very lenient on the timeframe of Christa and her baby so i'm going to say 2 months instead of 3 between the last season 1 scene and the first scene of season 2. (I don't think the 400 days characters were at Carver's yet either) and then a "16 months later" screen pops up so we are at 1 year 9 1/2 months now? We know 5 days pass between clem and the cabin group meet up with Kenny and the first day or two Clem is with the cabin group prior so a week. Between that night and leaving Carver's.....three days? Well depending on when you leave after AJ is born and the trek to wherever when you go to Wellington or Howell's Store (9 days I believe?) So let's now say 1 year 10 months and a week.

According to A New Frontier let's go with the Jane ending the first flashback we see from Episode 1 MAYBE two weeks pass? Well we go from that to eventually when Ava meets Clem at night after AJ is taken away and "13 months later" So we are at 2 years 11 months and 3 weeks screw it 3 years just to be on the safe side here. Also the start of Episode 1 of a New Frontier after the timeskip of Javier's family says 4 years. Look whatever way you want to spin Clem's and AJ's model looking the same in the Jane flashbacks or not this is past the comic timeline at this point. You are not convincing me AJ is less than three years old. Both AJ and Clem look way older and The Commonwealth is shortly after the 1481 Day mark (4 years and 3 weeks) that Andrea finds out she is bitten.

  • Darn you Mostlypoptarts! Now I have to buy the Season Finale. Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!

With the work James Windeler, Michael Kirkbirde, and Kent Mudle put into Batman, I'm willing to give them the money up front if it were available now on Steam to pre-order lol. Give the team our best, we're eagerly awaiting what they have in store for us this time.

  • I was originally a bit apprehensive about the concept of the final Season focusing on kids, but if the whole season's writing/presentation are as good as what we saw in the trailer, I'm actually feeling better about it. Like, if it's genuinely a grounded story about the struggles of children who were raised in the zombie apocalypse without relief (and not some typical Walking Dead "group politics" story with kids instead of adults), I think it could legit be intriguing.

    Well played, Telltale.

  • I've been wondering if there are way more members on here than I think when there is down time between seasons. I should expect more to return as the premiere gets closer I guess.

  • Yeah seeing improvement and being excited is something I'm all for. But it's a little annoying to see half the positive comments going "Unlike ANF" It's frustrating enough that people want Telltale to just pretend ANF never happened and completely ignore all the characters from it.

  • Holy hell, the graphics are soooo good! I can't believe my eyes. We did it, ladies and gentlemen! Also, AJ is finally having a personality and a proper relationship with Clem, perhaps more players will enjoy their dynamic now. Overall, I loved the atmosphere and the tone of this teaser. It feels like Telltale is trying hard to abandon ANF and it's probably for the best. Despite the total lenght of 4 episodes, the Final Season got me excited finally.

  • Well its not unfair in my eyes.
There is absolutely no excuse why they can’t make Season 4 as good as Season 1. For me, most of their games have been poor after 2012 in my opinion. Season 1 was the only outstanding game they ever made. Everything else after it has been either average or awful. Sorry. That’s my view.

So Season 4 will be a failure in my eyes if they don’t make the episodes 2-3 hours, add plenty of hubs, involve decent character interaction and development, add optional things like maybe something similar to giving people food, adding puzzles was also great, they should include that with plenty of gameplay and finally an important one, having characters personalities change depending on your choices and i don’t mean just for one scene then it’s all forgotten about, i mean a genuine sense that your choices mattered. Have a Kenny/Lilly or Vernon personality change. We need that aspect back

I think that while those are good expectations I feel as if the "if it doesn't replicate what Season One does it will be considered a failur

  • While I agree that some aspects that you have mentioned would make for a welcome return, I respectfully disagree with your opinion that every Telltale Games since Season 1 have been average or awful. If you judge every Telltale Games based on the expectation of TWD Season 1, then that is being narrow-minded. Every game should be judged by its own merits rather than the previous game before. Every game have its own strengths and weaknesses. Yes, ANF wasn’t that great and it was marred by development troubles, but even that game tried something different such as trying to tell two tales in two different time. It didn’t work well but at least they tried and they know that now. Also you can’t possibly expect every game to have the same feature as Season 1. Every Telltale Games tried something different otherwise it would be stale and boring. Innovation is the key if Telltale want to stay ahead in the gaming industry and I can tell that Telltale is finally making steps to change their format and I find that exciting.

I am not trying to change your opinion. I am just disagreeing with your way of thinking.

  • I'm late to the party, and after watching the new trailer I'm actually quite impressed.

Granted I'm still not too excited about the latest entry, but there's always a little hope that something might catch my interest.

  • How old are clem and AJ.....did telltale just got passed the comic book timeline? Because if they didn't I'll be hela CONFUZZELD.

  • Decent enough trailer but I gotta stick to my opinions that AJ is not the way forward. He should have been killed off years ago to free up Clementine's character. His death would have worked wonders for Clementine's development.

It is definitely quite possible that Telltale incorporate those aspects from Season One that you mentioned into The Final Season. After all... they did draw inspiration from Season One while developing The Final Season. But what made Season One such a breakout hit was due to the genre being at a somewhat low point and slowly dying off. Quite a lot of games around that time were flashy, guns- blazing and gameplay focused. Season One showed a masterpiece could be made without relying on gameplay and flashy features. Of course hubs and puzzles did play a big role in the story and the development that characters had in Season One but what made the game so special was the narrative.

And Telltale tried incorporating the features and style of Season One into pretty much all of their games since Season One although it did not bode well with fans as they felt it became increasingly stale. I did not have a problem with it but people wanted some innovation and change

Like you I hope to see as much freedom and creativity that was present in Season One in The Final Season. And I do like that you wish for The Final Season to have what Season One had but if it doesn't exactly capture the same vibe/feel as Season One it shouldn't in any way be regarded as average or a failure.

Apologies for the super long message Dan and I am sorry if my comment comes off as an aggressive attack towards you or your views.

  • I didn't do the math while typing that comment  my bad. I recall seeing a YouTube video of Walking Dead A New Frontier that was around 6hrs and 30mins long. There are some other videos that are longer or shorter than this length. With The Final Season I would like to think we will get around 2hrs worth of content. We may get even more as Telltale have said they want to allow more freedom and exploration so that could definitely add a decent amount of time to the length of an episode. Apologies for the long response
