I’m not deciding the games worth based on a few images. I’m deciding it based on the company that put those images out. And I got 4 years worth of history to base it on.
Well then maybe we should all reserve judgment until after the actual game comes out and not decide whether it's good or shit based on a few concept art pictures.
No, I'm saying it's stupid to assume that a game will be good or bad when the only information available is as minimal as a few pictures and a 40 second tech demo. You can't guess what the final game will look like with this information. People can draw whatever conclusions they want but some of the negative reactions to the reveal are absurd. The positive reactions mainly consist of people expressing their belief in Telltale and their excitement for the upcoming game. If someone were to say that the game is clearly superior to anything Telltale has done and cannot possibly fail, I would of course object to that as well. Not that my objecting matters to anyone, just saying how I'd act.
Well you're still here and you're presumably still going to buy the game so you gotta have some faith in them left. I'm guessing the last game you played is New Frontier? They've gotten better since then. Did you play some of the latest titles like Batman or Guardians? Hell I heard that even Minecraft S2 was pretty good. Telltale has finally got their shit together and TFS may very well be one of their best games if they keep on like this.

Yup haven’t played a single game of theirs since ANF nor will I until they fix Clem’s story. They lost all my goodwill with that abortion and for the crappy way we all got treated us during that cycle. I spent a lot of years praising them to anyone who would listen and more defending them. That shit is over, they got one more chance to fix this mess, and I’m not cutting them an inch of slack until then. And once they fail at this, I will gladly walk away and not look back.

You're not even trying to be discreet, you've already formed your opinion of the game, you've already written it off, so don't get pissed at Telltale when you end up not liking it. You're telling them to fix this, but are essentially saying that nothing they can do will fix it. Honestly, you might as well just walk away right now if that's going to be your attitude, it will be healthier for everyone involved, including yourself.

Who would you say has reacted unreasonably negatively?

I'm going to take their initial claim of eating crow at less than face value. That doesn't seem to me like a person that will swallow their pride if proven wrong. Sounds to me like a person who already knows the outcome of it all and has formed an opinion, even though there is little to go on.

First impressions are important and shouldn't be dismissed. The stuff shown at PAX was the progress Telltale wanted us to see as indicative of how they currently intend to mold The Final Season. We may not be able to judge the final product but we do have the right to judge the creative direction Telltale presented to us.

I’m not saying nor did I ever say you can’t be critical of it, but some are judging the game as a whole already based on the direction. Saying stuff like “I think the direction of the story has huge potential” or “I’m not liking the designs and outfits of the character” are fine, but stuff like “Awesome, new details, this season is going to be amazing” or “Oh God that looks like shit, it’s only a matter of time before this game fails” are a stretch.

I can understand that but even though we can't judge the actual game definitively since it's a ways from coming out I don't think predictions are really that harmful inherently. I don't believe many people are going to be sticking to their initial impressions when The Final Season releases in spite of how the game actually fares. Toxicity is another thing entirely but negative impressions and predictions aren't always toxic, it just depends on how users word their posts.
If people want to jump to conclusions on how the game will turn out I don't have a problem with it. We do have the creative team's work on prior Telltale games to go on (not saying anything on that just pointing it out) and we were given some clue on how The Final Season is going to look like, so I wouldn't say these assumptions are completely unfounded. Wasn't that the point of showing the footage and the concept art in the first place? To let the fans get a small taste of their vision of the final product? Considering that I don't think the judgements are necessarily unjustified. I'm not jumping to conclusions myself (though I am a bit uneasy about the direction TFS is going based on what was shown), but I don't personally mind those that are.

I wanted to bump this thread so Staff could see that we are still supporting them every single day! And to those people who claim the Final Season will crash and burn...... That will not be the case. It may sound narrow minded of me to come out and say that The Final Season won't suck but we have been getting consistent greenlights in relation to The Final Season, its premise, characters and focus on the relationship between Clementine and AJ. Telltale you guys DO have this and I know that you do! Keep doing what you guys are doing!
Of course its not going to Crash and Burn. Crashing and Burning implies that it at some point it took flight. This is going to be more like a drag race where the car in lane one takes off and the car in lane two blows its engine and just sits there while the driver in lane two jumps out the window and runs around like he won the race.

Well since we are talking cars and races and such I suppose I shall give an analogy using cars and races.
Telltale is the experienced and well known driver that hit worldwide success after a surprising and unforgettable debut in the Grand Prix.
The driver then decides they should keep the same engine and tires in hopes of repeating the same performance in all of their future races as it worked so well for them in their breakout race.
However as time progresses their engine and tires wear down and require a change.
Fans of the team express concern for the driver relying on an engine that is well past its peak. The driver then acknowledges that they must change up their gear so to ensure they return to winning ways.
The team that works on the car takes their time to build a car that can perform and return the team and the driver to winning ways.
Then comes the big race... the drivers big chance to show their followers and team they are willing to perform and adapt. They know they have the hopes of everyone on their shoulders.
The driver shows signs of improvement throughout the entirety of the race and is fully aware that everyone is counting on them so they push themselves as hard as they possibly can..... which leads to them winning the race and returning to the #1 Podium. Hopefully that makes sense as I felt that I explained it poorly
Of course its not going to Crash and Burn. Crashing and Burning implies that it at some point it took flight. This is going to be more like … morea drag race where the car in lane one takes off and the car in lane two blows its engine and just sits there while the driver in lane two jumps out the window and runs around like he won the race.
Oh your analogy worked quite well and you did a good job explaining it. You just left some parts out. Like that time they stopped mid race to repaint the car, then promptly drove that car into that stands and then blamed the people they ran over for messing up their lap time. Or that time they switched to boat racing for some reason. Then switched back to car racing but lied about how big the car was or that the fan favorite mascot was going to have a big role in the race. Then during the press junkets ran around slapping anyone who asked a reasonable question that wasn't just glowing praise.
But other than that, it made perfect sense to me at least.

Can you explain this in the simplest form possible? I'm lost as to what you're referring to by all of that.

Okay, we get it. You think Telltale sucks and the final season will bomb.
Now please stop bombarding the post with your negative vibes. Most of us actually want to enjoy the last season we will ever get of Clementine and don't want to be soaking up the toxicity from disillusioned ex-fans for the next 2 months while we wait for it.

OMG, just make a fitting finale for the series so I can say goodbye to Clementine and this whole franchise.

100% agreed
I have faith in them. They did a really awesome job with Minecraft Story Mode Season 2 and Batman The Enemy Within
Agreed, Batman s2 was absolutely incredible and an immense leap in quality from the titles that came before it.
I feel exactly the same way about this situation

A depressing but accurate representation.
Well, find a comfortable chair and wait for Telltale to 'fix' Clementine's story. while, this, we'll be having fun.
No one knows anything about anyone on the internet. This is an inhospitable land.

Who took a shit in your cereal this morning?? Did Naughty Dog send you??
I don’t eat cereals, I prefer porridge... and someone did pee in it. And no Naughty Dog didn’t send me, their last check they sent bounced.
Edgy shit talking with no substance or class. Come on, don't you have anything better?
WOAH! Please refrain from using such offensive language when addressing others. It pays to be nice, you know?

The driver shows signs of improvement throughout the entirety of the race and is fully aware that everyone is counting on them so they push themselves as hard as they possibly can..... which leads to them winning the race and returning to the #1 Podium. Hopefully that makes sense as I felt that I explained it poorly
