I was disappointed because the game seriously built up a feeling of dread and paranoia unlike any game I've played in recent memory. So the ending was sadly anti-climactic.
I heard Firewatch is amazing
Firewatch really is a good game. The story isn't as dramatic as most story games but that is the beauty… more of it. The story feels as though it could exist in real life. Vanaman really is a great writer. The game is mostly linear but there are some interesting branched out conversations and the character development and the script feels so natural. I remember there were quite a bit of people who were upset with the ending and I was too initially, but the more I think about it the ending was great considering the story it was trying to tell.
Man... I always forget that Clem has the academic knowledge of an 8 year old. Not that she's dumb or anything since it's always implied she has a high level of street smarts. It's just that if Clem were to run into a library with book, she probably can't read everything.
Now I wonder if that new character with the dreads (Marlon, I think was his name) will have a moment with Clem where it will be revealed Clem can't really read or write that well. If done well, it would be an amazing scene to showcase what the apocalypse is really like, what children will have to go through, and that things we once held as important aren't that important anymore in that universe.

That's how I saw it at first but that's kind of the point. Its not meant to be this crazy dramatic story, it's supposed to feel realistic and that's how it was. The ending was anti-climatic and that's the point. In the heat of the moment things can look and feel a lot worse than they really are and the mind creates all sorts of fantasies and horror stories but in reality the truth is often blunt, cold, and and unsatisfying and when you look back at the bigger picture the situations are a lot more simple and straight forward than you originally thought.

But hey, there was a dead body, at least.
Great, but then there's no reason to ever play that game again. That trick only works once.
Also doing/pulling off a tense atmosphere successfully only for the sake of subverting it, isn't exactly what I would call a success. More like a complete waste.

Firewatch. You're forest ranger watching for fires, and then suddenly things take a dark turn. Campers go missing. You find evidence of dark secrets, conspiracies etc
Game is super paranoia-inducing.
I remember this moment in particular :
Delilah: Oh, well, you're back in your tower. Maybe you need a drink, too.
Henry: I'm not in my tower.
Delilah: I'm looking at a man standing at your lookout. And it's not you?
Henry: It's not me.
Delilah: Oh my god... Go!

No, but I could say that telltale pulled similar disappointments.
Build up crawford as a horrible place: get there and it's already all ruined
Build up the stranger as a creepy stalker/possible pedophile: oh he just wanted a replacement daughter
build up carver's camp as being like a prison camp: he just wants the bare minimum of effort out of you, or else he might throw you off the roof
build up ANF as a scary threat: oh no, it was just a few bad eggs in the military

Oh no, it was a horrible place. Now it's a not much better than everywhere else.

To be fair, I don't think anyone was really that disappointed with that reveal. Though is a stalker and a tad creepy.

You mean that's not prison?
build up ANF as a scary threat: oh no, it was just a few bad eggs in the military
Wow, that really made me laugh, for some reason.
Though to be fair, the military was basically all we knew about before and after the premiere. And the Council of Four setup with each representing a sect within their community(s) was much more interesting.

Louis.
Marlon is the one that looks like Tripp and David's stomachchild.
