What will happen when it ends?

edited June 2018 in The Walking Dead

After the final season will this community still thrive? I recently started getting into the community but have played all the games (minus Michonne's). Id love to hear and make new friends here but will it last? Who knows if TT will continue to make more TWD games... And Clem is coming to an end. Kinda sad I am this late to the party. Had no idea 6 years ago I would be this invested... But is it too late?

My steam is Farquad94 if someone wants to chat. Also have discord.

Thanks.

Same here, only actually started communicating with people here last month

Id love to hear and make new friends here but will it last?

Ehhh, I wouldn't say people make friends here, just run-ins with familiar faces

    but will it last?

I hope it does lol :D . I just requested a name change, and only even come here to talk about things related to TWDG.

Had no idea 6 years ago I would be this invested... But is it too late?

It's NEVER "too late" tbh. Even after people finish playing TFS, there will be a plethora of discussions regarding every fibre of that game. People will talk about how it compares to the old games, the way characters interact, how things should've went, what would've happened if [insert character name] was still around in TFS, etc.
I say this community has up until 2019 before everyone pulls the plug on it. Just get all your comments in before then. Make your own discussions too. That'll help out with wanting to connect with other people.

  • The credits
Probably more spin off games which i really wouldn't mind.

  • My guess: a lot of retroactive recognition merchandise-wise, people wanting to talk about TWDg fervently but not finding people to talk to because the only prominent community will be on tumblr (where people are coagulating less on this), and a lot of fan works falling by the wayside. Any post-franchise (as in, all of TWD) references to TWD will be exclusively based on the comics unless the ones making the references were fans of the game. Assuming the community still thrives, either people who poorly represented will get ushered out or increase exponentially LONG after their time was needed. Clem will still be colored white. Former staff may leak plot details unexpectedly like a year or 2 after the game ends. Other stuff happens.

  • After the final season will this community still thrive?

Pretty sure after a year or two it will become dead like the other communities with nothing left to talk about like the older games. Will be the most ironic dead community because of the word dead in the title. No longer the Walking Dead ** but more so **the Discussion Dead instead because of nothing read. LOL and yes rhyming is fun.

  • Well according to this site, this is far and away the biggest community they have. I'm not so sure this is the end of the Walking Dead game, but it's the end of Clem's story.

They could decide to kill off Clem, have Clem survive but switch to AJ as the main character, or have AJ walk away (like Kenny did) and have AJ start his own story. Maybe they start a whole new story with new characters, and try to not make the same mistakes they made within this story.

I seriously doubt that TellTale would kill off their biggest community, especially when they're apparently going through some money/staff issues right now.

  • Someone going make a post about " Season 5 "

  • all depends on TT's next games being good or not prolly

It’ll be nothing but theories about ways that Lee could still be alive and @Deltino wandering around aimlessly muttering, “I always wanted it to go away and now that it’s gone, I just want it to come back”.

  • This side of the forums (despite its popularity) will die a slow death just like the others. Maybe if the community page layout would be like it used to before the update, the subforums would live on for longer.

Man, I miss the old layout.

Actually, I'd probably be making snarky and passive-aggressive remarks towards various people

It really depends on if they'll keep making more TWD games without Clem and if previous fans will come back to the forums when that happens. I know quite a few people who will be officially checking out of the fandom after Clem's story is done.

  • Hopefully it just ends for good.

  • I imagine with allegedly no incoming entries, there'd probably be discussion about the Final Season for about a year or two, some retrospective topics and posts about the game series in general and how it progressed/fell, people like me doing some creative/encouraging stuff, and perhaps even some people who come here just to shoot the shit.

Fair enough, but you better hope these are driving lanes and not swimming lanes, because I pee in the pool.

  • i think the reason for that is because their games are so cheap for how great they are. Like $19 for tfs season pass? And I've been planning on getting telltale games for a while and got all of the games post TWD for like 50 dollars. Maybe this is on Sony's behalf (I play them on ps4) but then am I lucky, there are legit mega deals ever month. TWAU and TWDS1 for 5 dollars each lol

After this is all over I will probably be dipping over to the TLOU forums sense that franchise has plenty of life left and is rumored to have a third installment after part 2. I just don’t see this forum going anywhere if they don’t release any more TWD games after TFS.

  • Spidderman? Got it!

  • People will argue over Kenny and Jane some more, people will say they are tired of people arguing over Kenny and Jane, and a thread about The Final Season's most difficult choices will turn into a conversation about how Andy St. John's intentions were pure but his execution was off. Basically, business as usual. Honestly I don't think you have too much to worry about the community immediately dissolving. There are still threads about Season 1 at this point so after The Final Season we'll have plenty to talk about for years :)

    Or an approved recommendation.

    :(.

You know how it is when you are following a story over many years, with the good times and it's bad, and then when it all comes to an end you're left feeling empty knowing that that's it. I'm just anticipating that feeling. You maybe feeling a bit grouchy over how it has turned out and you just want it to end, but it's not the same with everyone. Even though there have been many shortcomings to this story that it's value has been buried under these blemishes, knowing what it's really trying to express is enough to keep me invested. And it's still overall, in my opinion, a good story which could (for lack of a better word) pull at your heartstrings to see end.

  • I leave this thread settled and come to this THIS HERESY

  • Depends about how this season goes tbh maybe something will sparkle discussions about s4 like it did with s2 on Kenny Vs Jane.

  • This toxic af forum will die

  • It's a strange feeling to this threads are going to be a junkyard someday.

  • Some would say that it already is one...

The Stranger Things forum will become the new TWD forum as this place drifts into the TellTale forum graveyard.

  • They're doing a Stranger Things spinoff?

  • In terms of Telltale games, I doubt any game will eclipse the popularity TWD had. Stranger Things will probably become a better TV show than TWD because it seems like TWD has run its course with the current characters and storylines.

Telltale's TWD could've been so much more had they kept Lee alive longer and had actual thought out deaths rather than falling in ice and drowning or random gunshot deaths.

I hope Telltale goes back to The Walking Dead again. They should follow the same blueprint as Lee/Clem in terms of character development, but avoid the mistakes they made in this storyline. It would suck to see this forum and TWD go away after waiting so long between seasons.

EDIT: I guess I should have read the OP. I thought the thread was about what happens at the end of the final season. Ah well. I'm sticking to this. Leaving it up lol.

Lee will wake up, having been asleep in his office at the university. On Lee's desk, the keen eyed among us will notice some pictures of a man and woman being intimate, the pictures seemingly taken from a vehicle, like a private investigator might. Lee will stand, walk over to a mirror, straighten himself up, and leave the office. Then we see him walk down a hallway, then another, then finally he enters a lecture hall and greets his students for their new semester of American History 201.

  • No offense, dud, but
Woah, this game is amazing. This is why I love telltale.
It's so sad, I'm crying like pewdiepie.
^ These are the usual feelings that one experiences upon completion of walking dead games, except the hideous outlier that is A New Frontier. If they were to do something like that, which is just impossible because Kirkman refuses to do anything crazy like dream-theories, it wouldn't be as good, in my opinion at least. But it's still a fitting ending if telltale/Kirkman were willing to do anything as radical as that.
