If TFS is 'The Final Season of Clementines Story' then why isn't it called Season 3?

It doesn't make sense, season 1 and 2 where Clementines Stories so they were called s1 and s2, other people's stories where counted as spin offs, So Michonne wasn't called s3 and The Walking Dead ANF was described as "a game meant expand TWD universe" and it was Javier's story, NOT s3 as telltale kept saying over and over - (They only called it season 3 for marketing purposes, more people would buy it if they assumed it wasn't a spin off) So they confusingly name the real s3, the FINAL SEASON, although its pretty safe to assume based on things they've said, that they are thinking about other stories in the walking dead universe. Are they gonna have to fix their mistake like Final Destination did when it called number 4, "The FINAL destination" and then still made Final Destination 5?

  • Probably because people would be confused by how the season's transition between the game. They would probably perceive it as Season 1, Season 2 & Season 3 and exclude ANF, which would result in confusion for those who choose endings in Season 2. It'd be a problem for newcomers. Although I'd be all in for calling it season 3 if ANF is to be forgotten.

  • ANF was season 3 well i think it is because it takes place 2 years after season 2 and Clem still has a role not a main role but more a side role like season 1 and i know ANF wasn’t the best season but it’s still the timeline with Clem and season 4 is the final season with Clem

And the final season takes place 4 years after ANF so that’s one more i still se ANF as season 3. And in ANF episode 5 from the gallows trailer it says season 3 finale

  • Telltale logic? ☠️

  • Probably because it's too late to reasonably do so.
Also, Clementeen was still considered a noteworthy character in it throughout it's run, complete with flashbacks to explain how she got there.

A New Frontier is Season Three, just under a different title (I'm Captain Obvious!) I am well aware that A New Frontier focused on Javier and his mission to protect his family as well as seeking vengeance and revenge upon a Group who took the life of his Niece. But it also focused on Clementine and how past events shaped her into a hardened individual who lost her trust and hope in humanity due to said events. Even though we made choices as Javier we still played a role in Clementine's story, ultimately helping her to regain her hope and trust in people. That is how I see it anyways....

  • @dylanwoods777 WELL SAID!

That's the best summary of ANF I've ever read on this forum so far.

  • There are better summaries than mine on these forums but thank you for that

  • I remember Job saying a while back that ANF WAS the 3rd season, it just wasn't S3, if that makes any sense. I guess it would be too confusing for most fans if they called TFS S3 because most people think that ANF WAS S3, because it was...kinda

  • I see it that way too, but the only problem is that you have the possibility to be a huge dick to Clem but still get the same result

  • Don't forget she also regains her faith in people and groups even if the only people alive from episode 1 are Javier and Kate. There's also Eleanor, not sure how far that one goes for her if she sells out the group to Joan.

"Well, you're not all dead, years of traumatic experiences and deaths have been overcome in a week!"

Something about curing crippling anxiety and a fear of loss by spending a few days with a knucklehead and his family that miraculously didn't immediately die seems a bit off here. Especially given all the ways so much of it could play out.

  • ANF is Season 3. They just didn't call it Season 3 because they wanted to appeal to new players.

'The Final Season' has more of a dramatic tone to it. It's appealing, scary, and exciting. This is the game that Telltale has to top off TWD with (or at least Clem's story), so there's weight to it. If it were just 'Season 4', it'd just be another thing that happens in the WD world...

Plus, it's probably more appealing to casual fans. The ones who probably aren't caught up on the whole series or haven't played it yet. "Ooh, the Final Season, you say? Well, I did like the first two.. I better catch up!"

Plus, it provides a clear end to this series if they ever decide to make another season following a different character. This is the Final Season of 'The Walking Dead': Telltale's undead baby. The next round of seasons could have a different title, but maybe still have the finale subtitle 'The Walking Dead: Awakenings - The Final Season'...

    Meh, just my thoughts.
