LGBT character(s) discussion

  • The Walking Dead has always had LGBT characters in the comic and on the show so the videogame featuring it is nothing new. Many other videogames have these kind of relationships in them and sometimes the player is able to let their character be in a relationship with the same sex. Now how do I think Clem will view it? I think that Clem might not view it as anything wrong and perhaps she could romance a female character. If you played the demo you will notice that the gameplay is one of the biggest difference and like many games similar to this style you can choose your romantic interest. Life is Strange Season 1 had Max be romantically interested in Chole, Warren, or nobody and the player can choose one, both, or none it was completely up to the player to choose.

  • You answered your own question. There are people who value the representation of gay characters on their fiction, so TT goes out of their way to please them. Because that's what they should do. Try to please as many costumers as they can.

And I have yet to understand why people take issue with this. Writing a gay character takes no more effort than writing a straight character. It doesn't take away from the narrative in any way. It's just a thing that is there. Like a character having blue eyes, brown hair, thick eyebrows...

If including some gay characters makes a portion of people happier, then I don't see why anyone would be against that. Not to mention that it's just statistically accurate for gay people to exist in the USA.

my take on it is..what's the point? why go out of your way to make a character sexually orientated just to please everyone? concentrate on the fundamentals,ie getting the game script right and everything will fall into place naturally

Well of course someone named @IronWoodLover would say that :D But I agree, it should be easy...maybe only a few different conversations but plot wise there is no difference if a male lover was caught and Clem had to go on a rescue mission to a female lover who is caught and Clem had to go on a rescue mission...see?

  • Sounded worse than I meant it to. I meant he has a little bit of a gay lisp and a softer voice so he usually plays gay characters

Just because a person has played a gay character in the past does not mean they’re automatically going to play a gay character all the time.

There needs to be an LGBT faction with LGBT members only, one that does screening for newcomers claiming to be LGBT to see whether or not if they're really LGBT..........I only made this comment so I could repeatedly use the acronym "LGBT".

  • Gay lisp? Is it wierd that I've never heard of that?

  • I wanna say that's, like, an old stereotype. Like Truman Capote or something.

It would be nice for telltale to make a none stereotypical Gay character for once. People would also like marlon more if, unlike Gabe, they knew for certain he wasn't just trying to get in clem's pants and he was being nice because he is.

Why does what you mentioned make you wish he's lgbt?

  • I think ya'll are underestimating ma' boy Marlon. Just wait till you play the full episode, you'll see. And for the final time, he is not like David or Tripp or Gabe. He's not from Prescott or Baltimore.
Do you know what would be cool? If we could find out the reason why all the kids got sent to the boarding school. Like, Louis gets exiled to the Ericson Boarding school yet he can still showoff his piano-playing skills. I see he's a man of culture.

The dumb/fruitless thing about that though is that Gabe wasn't. Clementine approached him and the only time or two he remotely showed any hint of interest in her that way would've just as easily been in line with him wanting to feel like a valued group member and/or was after the shift in direction/priorities--which was after people were going on about the idea in the first place.

  • Well even if Marlon was trying to get in Clem's pants, we play as Clem so we will 100% be able to choose whether we want Marlontine to happen or not.
