"You approach survival pragmatically, favoring diplomacy over brutality. You generally do what's best for everyone, even if that involves a personal sacrifice."
I would be surprised if a 7 years old girl didn't think that a woman who betrayed her group and killed someone in cold blood is dangerous.
In principle, I would be surprised as well. And I would not trust such woman with my life or with the chance to take off with everything I have.
If we think back, we run into an issue, however. In the dream sequence in "No Going Back," many of the lines Clem can say and many of the responses Lee has to these lines were purposely nuanced. This was because Lilly's killing of Carley or Doug was employed by the writers as a sort of parallel for the confrontation Kenny and Jane would ensue in later in the episode.
The fact that Clementine now invariably remembers Lilly as a dangerous back-stabbing woman, despite the fact that previously in the game almost all of Clem's possible interpretations of Lilly were ambiguous, is incoherent at best and an attempt to rehash the same plot point in two directly contradictory ways at worst.
Clem: Lee… why did Lilly do that to Carley?
Lee: I don't know… She was sad, Clem. That can make people angry sometimes.
Clem #1: That's a dumb reason.
Lee #1: You're right. It is.
Clem #2: Because of her dad?
Lee #2: Yeah.
Clem #3: Have you ever been that angry?
Lee #3: One time.
Lee: Clem, people don't always make sense.
Clem: How come?
Lee: 'Cause bad things happen to everyone. And it's hard to keep being yourself after they do.
Lee #1: Do you think we should've let Lilly stay?
Clem #1: Maybe.
Lee #1: It was a hard thing to do. But what if she'd done something to hurt you?
Clem #2: I don't think so.
Lee #2: I don't know. It wasn't easy.
Clem #3: I don't know.
Lee #3: I don't either.
Lee #2: What do you think? Should we have left her behind?
Clem #1: Maybe. She's kind of crazy.
Lee #1: I don't know. She wouldn't make it very long out there alone.
Clem #2: No.
Lee #2: Maybe we should've. I don't know.
Clem #3: I don't know.
Lee #3: I don't either.
Lee: I don't know if we did the right thing.
Clem: How can you tell?
Lee: Well, it's not like math, Clem. Sometimes there just isn't a right answer. (…) Yeah, but part of growing up is doing what's best for the people you care about. Even if sometimes, that means hurting someone else.
Clem: I don't want to hurt anyone.
Lee: It's not that easy.
Clem: I'm scared, Lee.
She did hide AJ to make a point, I don’t see any problems with this statement.
In my eyes, what Clementine narrates is problematic for two reasons.
Firstly, because Jane did not "leave AJ in the snow," she hid AJ inside a car, and if Clementine had two neurons she would realize the difference between the two. Leaving a newborn out in the snow during a blizzard would inarguably let us conclude that Jane intended for AJ to die right then and there. Leaving a newborn baby inside a car whose doors were all closed, while still risky, paints a very different picture.
Secondly, because Clementine narrates that Jane hid the baby "to prove a point" invariably, for all players who shot Kenny and saved Jane—those who might think that she was indeed only trying to prove a point and endangered AJ's life, and those who might agree with Jane about Kenny and who think she had a point. The story simulator makes no distinction whatsoever between these groups of people. Undoubtedly, it is a disservice to people who still care about the game and still like Jane.
The different Clementines thing is cool and all, but don't forget this has been done twice in the past—A New Frontier's 42 Clementines and then the "your Clementine is" at the end of that season. The first collection of titled types of Clementine amounted to basically nothing. And I'm wondering why the story generator is pulling off a third collection of Clementines if the last collection was generated just at the end of the last season; are they appealing to newcomers, again? Or did something happen between ANF and S4 and I missed it?
Also, no Christa? The one who looked after Clementine for longer than everyone else short of Kenny if you leave Wellington with him?
If this will be the way the final season of the series will look back at past characters, I think it is garbage, and I hope for the sake of people who still like the first seasons that they mention as little characters as possible, much less bring any back.
I would be surprised if a 7 years old girl didn't think that a woman who betrayed her group and killed someone in cold blood is dangerous.

Albeit technically true, AJ was not exposed to the elements while in the car. It would be dishonest to say only that Jane left him in the snow; and if someone were to hear about Kenny and Jane’s conflict for the first time as it is presented in this generator, they would rightly jump to the conclusion that she was trying to kill this baby, shoving his face into snow or something like that.
I only got like, eight questions in the story generator, and even then it completely forgot about a potential conclusion to the Kenny/Jane fight (letting Jane die, then shooting Kenny- which imo is a lot more 'Brutal' than shooting Kenny to protect Jane). So now I've got a 'Loyal' Clementine that let Jane die and abandoned Kenny. ok
I don't have the energy for this franchise anymore. I could bitch about how the story generator disregards any moral ambiguity the games once had, or how it ignores Season 2's characters other than Kenny and Jane, but it's all a giant fucking waste of time.
Yes I understand what do you mean but I wouldn’t read it too much like a huge problem of the season since it is really only a fast recap. Jane tried to prove a point so it is left to the player decide if her point is right or not and we probably will be able to chose how to treat Lilly when we find her... unless she is a villain or something. Guess we will have to wait to find out!

I thought the generator was pretty cool! I love the art and the animations! Though I was hoping for more choices to be present… I found it strange that choices such as the Wellington ending weren’t included in the generator. Especially considering that judging by the trailers it would appear that the alternate scars/tattoo/missing finger will carry over. It would be nice if they updated it so it included a few more choices or at least fixed the audio that was cut short... but I still have Seasons 1-3 downloaded on my laptop and I plan on binge playing them when I get downtime over the course of these next two weeks before episode 1 is released so other choices that may or may not be taken into account that weren’t included in the generator shouldn’t be a problem for me.
The generator either confirms that Lilly will be the returning character or is incredibly misleading. If they didn’t want it to be obvious they should have included more choices even if they weren’t taken into account that way it would have been less so. I definitely would love to see her return she really is a great character who still has a lot of untapped potential.
I am a pretty big Jane fan but as I was going through the generator a second time to see the alternate posters, the audio that played as Jane was stabbed was pretty hilarious. ? I don’t get why they chose to go with the over-the-top scream instead of the actual audio but I guess it adds to the dramatic effect!
I got selfless.... the game says I prefer diplomacy over brutality and I put the needs of others ahead of me.... not really true at all for how I play but whatever.
Something has me worried: No option about whether you stayed with Kenny or stayed in Wellington... will Clementine simply not have her Kenny/Wellington scar if you import the story generator??
Also the fought for AJ/let him be taken choice.... that is not how the choice was framed during ANF. TNF from taking AJ away no matter what. This choice was about either saying goodbye or saying fuck you to David.
Man, this make-your-own-story-poster for Season 4 is pretty sweet. It makes me wish we at least got to know which "Cluster" of choices we had -- along with the relevant pictures -- for ANF. We know Telltale made some, but we never got them for the story generator.
So, I just recreated what I think is my current canon choices (to be honest, I don't remember much of what I originally did in Season 1 since I've played it so much), and I got Righteous.
"Though the world’s engulfed in chaos, you refuse to surrender your humanity, striving instead to maintain some semblance of order."
Cool.
I'm pretty sure I'll be importing my ANF save, however, just to get the benefit of minor choices imported as well as having my actual choices imported since I don't have a clear idea of what exactly I chose since S1. Hopefully, Telltale's engine doesn't mess it up. So, I guess I'll replay this and make My Anti-Clem.
P.S.: Y'know, this comic-style recap would be great for Telltale's "Previously On" segments. I know they're inconsistent with it these days, but this would really lend some awesome style to it. It would take more effort from the artists, but sometimes it's the little things that count.
Yeah I would put more choices like the wellington ending or If you helped to kill Larry or not come on telltale If lilly is going to come back I think that is an important choice, I hope too they updated the generator when the game come out with more important choices

I liked everything in the generator except for this choice. Why did they change the wording? All the other choices were the same as their originals except this one. I don’t think this matters nearly as much as it did in ANF because now we are actually playing Clementine so the whole #MyClementine thing kinda works even if past choices don’t change her to much because we will be able to decide what she does.

You fight for AJ by showing your disobedience to them taking AJ away. While saying goodbye is accepting them taking him away. How do you propose they word this choice for new players? Spit at David/Say goodbye to AJ? I doubt that would make much sense. That is not the problem of this generator but the problem of ANF cause it was so meaningless in the overall story that they had to try really hard to bring any choices out of it. Otherwise there would be no reason to even play ANF.
Also the fought for AJ/let him be taken choice.... that is not how the choice was framed during ANF. TNF from taking AJ away no matter what.… more This choice was about either saying goodbye or saying fuck you to David.

Ah, sorry. I just remember something of the sort, but of course it was before they changed the direction of the game. I'm too tired to read that AMA again, it'd take too long.
Loyal.. But I'm not using that. Only six choices to build our Clementine? No nuance to Kenny (complained about in another thread, I know, but still grates on my nerves) and ANF skipped completely. Kinda lame.
They said there are 32 poster variations but I only saw 4 so far. Too bad they skipped A LOT of important choices (Larry's death, stealing from the Stranger/Arvo, watching Carver's death/leaving with Sarita, Sarah's death, let Ava in and accept her apology or not. Worst, the only choices that do seem to matter in this Story Builder are the last 3: not matter what you did before if you chose to kill Kenny, you're either Brutal or Righteous if you let him kill Jane, you're either Selfless or Loyal which is extremely limited for a choice based game, thankfully I always keep my original save so I'll just import it hoping there will be no screw-ups. I had my problems with TNF's story generator but at least there were more broad choices to define what kind of person she became. I don't think it was implemented that well because it was mostly Javier's story but since she's the main protagonist again, it shouldn't be a problem again.
I believe that the 32 poster variations are not different personalities, they are just the images inside Clem avatar on the poster, that reflect our decisions, you probably can get the same personality but with a few different images inside.

I think I do remember which you're talking about, the person who answered about whether or not the Garcias would return in TFS said something along the lines of yes, as far as they're aware. I think it was shortly after ANF finished, so this was probably at a point where they were still throwing around ideas.
Ah, sorry. I just remember something of the sort, but of course it was before they changed the direction of the game. I'm too tired to read that AMA again, it'd take too long.

But in ANF it was “Spit at David” like how tf is that “Fighting for Aj” lmao.
Nice write up. I agree with a lot of what you said except for one thing...
Right or wrong, you stand by your friends. At the end of the world, those relationships are the most precious resource you have left.
They also promised us the Garcias would be in the next game.
Fake news. Telltale and their employees have never said this.
Edit: never mind, read that wrong, sorry.
