"Done running" is not a 3 words title. The new Telltale lacks detail?

Telltale usually had 3 words titles (like the comics AFAIK) but that went unnoticed with the new Telltale course.
Do you think it's a deliberate artistic choice (but why?), or just an overlooked detail?

  • Yeah, they kinda broke the theme. Even ANF had 3 words titles. Well I hope they compensate that with decent writing in the episode itself.

  • I honestly don't really care that it doesn't have 3 word titles.

  • Who cares if it’s a three word title or not

  • I'm sure it's deliberate, but I don't have any ideas why other than maybe Kirkman chiming in with a "let's do it this way for a reason" or just the creative team wanting to break the mold a bit.

  • I doubt Kirkman had any say in that matter, or cared tbh. I feel like his involvement this season was - telltale: hey, can our story take place 7 years into the apocalypse? Kirkman: sure. The end.

Uh, no. If the game takes place past the time-skip in the comics, Kirkman has to be more involved in the story-line than that. The 3-word rule doesn't just apply to Telltale's TWD. I think it also applies to Skybound itself. Furthermore, Guardians of the Galaxy had episode titles with 4 Words ("More than a Feeling").

  • If there are no characters from the comic involved, and the game takes place in isolated location, I dont see why Kirkman has to be involved heavily in it. He just gave them permission to move further into the future, that`s it.

  • Yeah, this season seems to break many traditions...

  • Maybe Kirkman didn't noticed. Maybe he was too confident on TTG doing the obvious 3 words title. But something changed, or maybe all the new staff at TTG wasn't aware of the rule.

  • We don't know if there if there's gonna be comic characters just yet.

  • They obviously know what they have been doing for 6+ years now, so it has to be deliberate decision. I mean half the season is 2 words while the last half are 3 its gotta imply a different direction in tone perhaps.

  • It’s ? just ? a ? title ?

I’d rather a 3 word title, but it’s not worth nitpicking over.

  • Omg, a title containing only 2 words instead of 3?! Heavens above, the end of Telltale is near!

  • AMC had a lot of great episodes that broke the 3 word deal...Nebraska being one of them...loved that episode.

In their defense, this wasn’t the first time TWD didn’t use a 3 letter title. In their separate book focusing on Rick’s brother, it was called “The Walking Dead: The Alien”. That didn’t have 3 letters in it.

The show also didn’t have 3 letter titles for about 90% of them. One was even a single letter.

  • I highly doubt the omission of an 3-worded title is indicative of laziness or amnesia on Telltale's part.

Yes, I'm irked that they didn't keep their three-worded format, but 'Done Running' still works as a thematic title.
I will admit three words just flows better and I've had a few ideas bounce around.
    "No More Running" (meh)
    "One Final Stop"
    "The Last Run"
    "Dead End Drive"
    "Out Of Options"
    "Out Of Breath"
    "Back To School" (hehehe)

Dang it Telltale! You had a cool thing going! Let's just hope no episodes go above 3 words...

  • Don't really care. One word, two words or three words. Whatever.

  • Back To School

Heh that's great, apply for telltale naming services 5 dollar per name

  • Yup, long as there's an episode to play, let's GO!

It's not the end of the world, but you can see it from here.It all started when telltale abandoned the 3 word titles.

On serious note, who cares about how many words the damn titles include?

As long as the episodes are good then I'm good too.

  • Honestly... who the fuck cares lol. Done Running conveys all it needs to with two words. Adding any qualifier might spoil something or make it less applicable.

  • Back To School is really good too tho. @AChicken 's idea. Done Running sound kinda lame and like something a 9 year old could make. It doesn't have a ring to it like the 3-word-titles, like \ties That Bind or A House Divided. They don't sound as 'cool'.

  • As long as it sets the episode's theme it doesn't matter how Manny letters are written.

  • I don't defend anything but who cares, honestly?

  • That title just reminds me of why George Lucas tweaked the original name of Episode VI according to Mr. Plinkett.

  • Well, considering last installment was supposed to be a linkup with the comics involving raiding on a large scale....

  • "Back To School“

Pls no. That would just remind me I’m starting school again in a week...

  • I hope telltale sees this thread and they change it by just adding a random, nonsensical word to keep the fans happy.

    "Plörtzlebitz Done Running."

  • I agree with you. Rather 3 word title but it won't really take away from the episode for me.

  • Honestly.... A Two worded title doesn't bother me. I don't mind what the titles are so long as I enjoy the content of the Episodes. But there are some titles in previous Seasons that I liked and felt they fit well with what was going on in the Episode. Done Running is a suitable title for Episode 1 in my opinion

That's mad. One week.... I am not trying to tease or anything but I am back at the end of August!

  • We're feeling awfully over dramatic aren't we.

  • August 1? It's the 12th.

  • hope there's no one that won't play the game because it's not 3 words

  • It can only mean that they put so much dialogue in the game that they hit the word limit, so they had to scrap some words from somewhere. Best to do it from the titles. Although I fear the credits will be pretty empty too. GoodbyeTelltale pets. :(

  • Um...who cares?

  • I made a mistake in my comment. I was meant to use "!" not the number 1 :joy:
