Steam release date is actually 13 hours ahead!
It's supposed to be released for me at 5am (BST) but every telltale game has come out at 6pm on steam, figured it was too good to be true and it looks like this one comes out at 6pm too.

These are the times it really unlocks for steam users.
This was the case with Captain Spirit too, the release time would show that it will release 10 am PDT time 1 day later than the said one. But it released as they said, even Tobi (the community manager of the LIS Franchise) said that they will force the release of it on steam.
EDIT: We won't know for sure until we get confirmation from Caroline.

Their tumblr post mentioned that PC was the same time as all the other platforms. Countdowns on steam have been wrong before so I'm really hoping thats the case.
Developers have the ability to release games at any time they want on Steam with a simple click of a button so even if it doesn’t automatically release at midnight they can always override it.
Platforms meaning PC, XONE, PS4 etc. not Steam, GOG or whatever.
But they don't even have their own store anymore to keep track of, so it would make sense for them to mean the most popular PC platform (Steam).
You are not making any sense at all. The game is not announced to released on GOG yet, and the only PC platform it is announced to be released is Steam. The same post has links to preorder and it links you to steam page. So yeah, PC means steam.
It is possible it still is releasing at the times they said they would, but I am a bit doubtful, I mean theres been times where the episode on steam went "how about 2 days late?" which was really annoying. Hopefully it will release during the times they actually said and its just steam being dumb.

I think even if it releases a bit later on the same day it`s okay. I mean it is still much better than being Telltale fan playing on ps3 around Season 2/Michonne era. Episodes delayed for weeks, maybe even a month, dont remember the details, but it is a lot of time. So as long as its August 14, I am okay with it.
"Steam, GOG etc." means other gaming softwares, not only those two in case they were releasing it somewhere else too. I didn't knew that they are releasing it only for steam on PC. Mainly because it doesn't really matter in my case since I've always bought their games on steam.
