(Spoilers) Redeeming qualities for Marlon.

I know I’m going to get a 50/50 out of the people who comment this but I’m just going to say it anyways...Did you think Marlon had any redeeming qualities I mean sure what he did was extremely messed up by selling out Tens sisters to those bandits but he had no other choice...Sure I was extremely pissed when he did that selling out a child for the community was really low And pretty much unforgiving if to say so the least.

I mean if it was up to me I would have locked him up in the basement and discuss with the community in the Democratic point of you on Marlons fate... obviously it let me have the choice I would’ve put him as an exile.

What should you guys do with Marlon to decide his fate or do you think he doesn’t have any redeeming qualities?

Let me know in the comments.

Peace✌?

  • I would have sold him out to Abel's group.

  • I do think he could've been redeemed if they kept him in confinement for a while. He just seemed so utterly resigned and broken before AJ shot him. Then again I try not to be too harsh on characters, so.

  • I was gonna keep him without being the leader. It was that or imprison him for the time being. The whole reason for his anger issues was the fact that he was keeping it to himself and that shit was eating at him, but the secret is out and in my playthrough, he was relieved by our open arms. Having Marlon alive would've been interesting going forward, but I honestly think he would have impacted for the better. Not saying people would accept him back immediately, but I doubt there'd be a night like that one again.

  • Yeah, though what he did was pretty hard thing to get absolution through.

I mean, I've seen people comment that it feels like his dickery kinda came out of nowhere.

I think that if he were under some supervision for a while and shown that leading a group is best done together not through keeping secrets ( I do think what he's done is terrible but I also do think he didn't tell anyone because he thought they would live in constant fear if they knew there was some enemy group right around the corner and since he probably thought it would all crumble if they knew he did what he did)

Hate me if you want but I really don't think he was a bad person but really indeed scared and very desperate. He didn't mean to kill Brody come on (though she could've lived if he wasn't such coward)

So yes with all what I wrote and also if the people at the school showed support and talked about their problems ( as a whole group but also as individuals) he would never do such thing again and could be redeemable but would have to live with the guilt forever. Come on people if Negan can become some sort of good guy Marlon definitely could.

  • He did have another choice. He could have fought or ran. Marlon was no doubt a coward. After him killing Brody, telling his entire group that he'd give someone else to the raiders, and planning on giving Clem and Aj up. I doubt he has any redeeming value. His attitude just shows he's only looking out for himself and everyone else is expendable. He can't be trusted. Why would Clem want someone like him around?

  • Well in my game she said we can fix this and he can stay so I guess there is a possibility she'd want him to stay around.

I'd say he does. My Clementine forgave him and was going to let him stay at the school (Minus his leadership role) before AJ killed him.

The fact that Marlon had stated that he'd 'do it again', as in give away his own to the mercy of bandits in exchange for protection, doesn't really fill me with confidence about him claiming that he's looking out for his group. If anything, this implies that he's more concerned of his own well-being than the people he swore he'd protect, since he never thinks to offer himself up, fight back, or relocate.

He's an intriguing character and definitely one of the better Telltale characters we've seen in a while, but I don't believe he's deserving of redemption considering his actions. He kills Brody because she wanted to tell Clementine the truth, and then decides to frame Clementine for his murder so he can execute her to continuing hiding the truth.

  • he has run the group for an obvious long time, the guy is younger than ben and he was 18 at the start, it took its toll on his psyche and before his death, he was riddled with guilt and quick fix options. i wanted to slaughter him after what happened but his breakdown told me hes a child and the decisions hes made...broke him

  • I started off from the very beggining hating his existance and especially hating the shipping of him and Clem. I always had bad vibes of him and knew he was up to shady shit. The leather jacket and the mullet. He looks like the type of kid that lights cats on fire and swears at his mom. From the start he seemed suspicious. Inviting but always had a hint of something that threw me off and made me not like him.

But now, on my second playthrough I finally get why some people symphatize with him. I mean what do we expect for him to have done? And what would any of us done in the situation?

Armed bandits come to your community, you are just a kid running a gang of other kids. No guns. Little to no resources. Just trying to stay safe and live. And then you got grown ups, with guns. Who can easily overthrow you but give you a compromise. They want 2 of the girls and they'll give you safety for the rest of the school.

    You either

    1. Accept that deal and save everyone
    2. Fight and most likely die and get everyone killed and taken anyway
    3. Accept the deal and tell everyone, resulting in people going out to try to get the girls back and dying, more deaths, everyone hates you. Community falls. Death....

I mean, his hands were tied.

The reason I still think he's scum is because he tried killing Clem and didn't come clean once the secret got let loose and was abusive to girls and made brody live with that lie and abused her. And that alone makes me hate someone's guts. So to me he had redeeming qualities. He was put in a tough posistion and did what he thought was best and I don't think any of us would have been able to handle it better if we could control his character. But he took that lie too far and was just pretty much a POS with abusive anger management issue tendencies and it's probably for the best he's dead.

  • So sad that Marlon fell into Clementine's arms when AJ shot him. No one's took that into consideration for what it's going to be like for Clem.

  • Pretty sure he's wearing a letterman jacket. That's definitely not leather.

Hey, that just made something click for me: the letter on Marlon's jacket is an E.

    E for Ericson.

Marlon and Louis are wearing Ericson jerseys in the photo Clem looks at. Guess Ericson had a sports team.

  • There is something that we have already seen in the ANF, Joan stole other communities for the survival of his, Marlon was no different, he had to make a difficult choice for the survival of his group is better dies 2 than 10. But his lies led to death, if he had not threatened Clem and if he had surrendered before he would not have died

  • Did you think Marlon had any redeeming qualities

Of course. He cared A LOT. Even when he got exposed he said he wanted to get them back but was scared. I'm not mad at him giving up Minerva and Sophie. I'm mad at him for keeping it a secret and killing Brody in order to keep it a secret, even though I was standing right there when he did it, like....... :D
Anyways, I'd forgive him so long as he did whatever he could for the group, and stopped keeping secrets from us. He could've regained my trust, but it won't be as good as before.
