Does anyone else have a problem with...

Any new characters instantly calling Clementine “Clem”? Ever since Season 2, when Clem meets a new character they start calling her Clem almost instantly as if they were her best friend. I always felt that it should be for close friends or to at least get to know her a bit longer first. I know it’s not a big deal but i just wondered what anyone else thinks of that?

  • I never thought of that, but don't really care how she's called. But I don't think they start calling her like that instantly, but the same day for sure.

  • Yeah thats what i meant by instantly, it happens the same day or day after like in S2 when Rebecca started calling her Clem the following morning despite being a bitch to her the night before, same with Carlos and the other cabin survivors. Javier and Gabe started calling her Clem pretty quickly too.

I don’t know why it bothers me but ah well

  • Wait, her name is Clementine?

  • i dont think its that weird. its pretty normally 2 me. whenever i give my full name no1 ever really calls me it, they call me by the common shortened version, some ask, most dont thou. they prob heard AJ call her it alot so thought it was what she refered 2 :/

  • It bothered me at the beginning of season 2 but then I completely didn't notice it anymore

Just like how they managed to do dinner for only 1 minute, it doesn't bother me. Just think of it like a person or two asked her nickname so they called her name by it and then everybody followed.

Besides, my real first name has more than 8 characters in it but almost everyone calls me by its first 4-characters, even before they 'know' me.

  • Not really, it's just an abreviation to a longer name just as you call immediatly Tennessee, Tenn. Also, I think most of adult characters don't take her seriously as she's just a child and therefore just calling her "Clem".

Seems like the obvious nickname for clementine so.... no? Hardly anybody would be bothered saying her full name over and over so the short version just makes it easier

I think it's pretty normal, people do that with my name too because they're too lazy to say the full thing.

  • I had a problem with it the last two seasons, but I don't mind it this time. The first time someone calls her Clem at the school, it's by AJ, and since the other kids hear him call her that, it just catches on.

  • I guess an example of what i mean is that i have a friend called Dave (who doesn’t?), David his actual name obviously but to me and close friends of his we call him Dee so i suppose what i meant in my post is that Clem is like how i would call my friend Dee because she would be like a close friend where as everyone else who just knew her wouldn’t call her by her unique name like it is for my friend Dee. Am i making sense? Haha sorry, thanks for the replies anyway
