Is there any mention by Telltale of why they are ignoring Christa?
I don't come here often so there may be something I miss.
As a person who teaches most of Clem's survival skills, it irks me that Christa is never mentioned again after the first episode of Season 2 with the exception of Wellington ending. When Clem's being asked how she survives, she always mentions Lee as someone who taught her how to survive for some reason even though he only taught her a few things while Christa is the one who actually taught her how to hunt, cooks food, treats wounds, etc (actual survival stuff). Why???
Edit: I already assume she is dead, what I meant was why Clem rarely mentions her compared to others... Need to make this statement because of the comments below making statements about Christa's state (dead/missing) even though I asked why Christa is rarely mentioned (that is 'ignored' by Telltale, not asking whether she is dead or not)...
Comments
Someone from telltale once said
"There are characters that are best left alone" and christa is one of em.
Really? I don't think she should be one of those characters considering the time she spent with Clem, what a bummer
If she doesn't show up in TFS I think we'll have to assume she died.
I mean she turned, tried to run, we heard a single shot, she wasn't with the group when they were found on the river, wasnt at Carver's camp and never showed up at Wellington.
Other than TWD codebook which states that if you don't see a character die they aren't dead, everything points to her dying right then and there
No need for that, I already assume she is dead, what I mean is why Christa never mentioned again by Clem after their separation...
Telltale have said they haven't forgotten about her once or twice.
It's also worth noting that Mara Junot hinted at knowing something about a future release...during the lead into ANF.
Christa is mentioned enough in S2
thats enough mentions for a non lee character if u ask me,of which there is at least one in every single ep in S2
COMPLETELY UNRELATED BUT WHY NOT ALERT
i thought it would b nice to see sum of em here, for some reason
Ep 1
1. the "I miss Lee" dialogue option
2. Telling the story to Luke
3. Mentioning he taught u how to shoot
Ep 2
1.Mentionin to Pete how she knew someone who cut his arm off once
2.Talkin to Kenny about it
3. Walter mentionin him
Ep 3
1. Clem mentionin him when Jane start talkin bout walker guts and shit
Ep 4
1. Clem mentionin him when talkin to kenny bout Sarita
Ep 4
1. Clem mentionin he wuz a nice man to Luke
2. Kenny mentionin him while in the car
Done,there could b more tho
And then she is never be mentioned again, while Lee and Kenny are... in every season...
i know i used your quote as more of a set up to do the lee mentions list,i just had it in my head and needed to put that shit out somewhere
It is weird how she's just never just never mentioned again after S2, considering she was with Clem longer than...anybody actually
I agree that Clem should be given more dialogue options to mention Christa, that could easily have been worked into the War card game (granted, I haven't explored all the dialogue paths for that)
Maybe, just maybe, we'll learn more later this season ^_^ Christa was awesome
When you're investigating the area by the river with Pete and Nick where Clem finds her backpack, you can see the body of a dead female that looks almost identical to Christa from season one. Upon Clem noticing her, the music shifts, she exudes a light shrill and refuses to examine the body to confirm if it was Christa or not. I'm curious if this was intentional to make the player think Christa is dead, or just an oversight.
Christa is also mentioned on the bridge with Matthew and then at the unfinished house if Clem decides to back up Kenny's plan to go to Wellington.
I think it really was a missed opportunity not to show what happened between Christa and Clem during the time skip at the beginning of S2E1. If we knew what went on, then more players might consider Christa a big part of Clem's life. But I feel like the average player might not remember Christa as well as Lee and Kenny because of the amount of screen-time they had in comparison to Christa.
I think there's a good chance her fate will be explored this season, at the very least.
At this point she is death
I agree, I hate the massive timeskips they have made with the seasons, there are years upon years of wasted storytelling potential.
They never fulfilled the potential or promise behind having a child as a protagonist, they made Clem an unrealistic adult in absurd fashion, and didn't change the dialogue choices, gameplay systems, or narrative design in any way to make more sense or be compelling.
The fact that Christa, Edith, and even Omid are never, ever mentioned by Clem, even though they spent a huge amount of time with her, is something I find very disappointing. This goes for Kenny too to some extent, but mostly I find him and Ediths deaths utterly moronic (as well as Janes) and I still have trouble considering New Frontier canon.
Born to kill.
Because its very likely shes dead....I mean I know they like to make people survive impossible situations but christa very likely just got killed
I understand that Clem spent a lot of time with Christa, but the majority of it was offscreen ...which doesn’t leave much for the player to reference in game.
I would also argue that her return wouldn’t add much to the story...Christa was a very strait-laced character in that she is a classic “good guy” (unlike Lilly who is more controversial), so she really has no unfinished business with the player besides a happy reunion (which to me would be okay as an end scene only).
And lastly, Clem doesn’t know where Christa is, or even if she is still alive. In contrast, she is more certain about Javier’s whereabouts...and since she spent more recent “in game” time with him, I think his absence should draw greater ire than hers.
I’m one of the few people who think that Vernon isn’t officially dead ?
The body was a reused model of the dead woman from No Time Left. The one next to her husband in the bed just after the group escape the attic. Wasn’t Christa
Also if Clem knew Christa was dead she wouldn’t have determinantly asked Edith if Christa was in Wellington
Yeah, Edith and Omid are also never mentioned, granted they are less influential to Clem compared to Lee, Kenny, Jane, Christa, but at least Telltale should at least grant us just one choice to mention them, by description is enough (like 'There is a woman in Wellington who help me nurture AJ for 1-2 years' or something)...
Correction: She's identical to Anna Corea from Season One. Who is a reused model(and voice) of Christa to begin with.
And she, in turn, is also the wife of the couple who committed suicide in the house next to Fivel's, with her extra tall husband being by the rock on the bank of the woods.
I can't verify your claim, though, as none of the playthroughs online go near that area or the one that did either didn't think to observe her or simply couldn't have (as she was right next to another body with a hat).
?I would also argue that her return wouldn’t add much to the story...Christa was a very strait-laced character in that she is a classic “good guy”
Not...really? Like, she is pretty eh on her own, but people initially disliked her for her role of assessing Lee's skill as a guardian and having a more no-nonsense viewpoint than everyone else.
In this interview for season 2 they mention that sometimes you just don't catch up with people you lost. Go to the 6 minute mark if the timestamp doesn't work.
"Sometimes you just get separated and you never see people again."
Honestly, I'm glad Christa is almost certainly not returning. I don't find her interesting at all. Lilly would be much more interesting.
Christa could come back as tougher and more steely than Lily, theyve both been left in the wilderness and Lily looked worse off than Christa last time we seen her, even if it's just a scene with Christa, there needs to be one wrote in .
They didn't forgot about christa but they didn't decide what to do with her yet
It wouldn't kill them to have Clem talk about her time with Christa in detail at least once
Agreed. Clem spent the most time with Christa out of anyone. Ofcourse I will always choose the Lee option wherever possible but It'd be nice to discuss Christa (and BrOmid) more too. All through season 2 I was wanting Clem to be reunited with Christa. I get that people loose touch and it's much easier to loose touch in an apocalypse with walkers lurking round every corner, but if Kenny can get 'real lucky' surrounded by walkers (#shouldhavediedinS1) then I don't see why Christa can't return even if it doesn't happen until the very end of the final episode. Either way I want to see her - dead or alive. That way we can confirm it for sure.
You are seriously going to put Christa's criticism of Lee's guardianship skills and no-nonsense attitude on the same level as Lilly having an emotional breakdown and murdering a member of the group in cold blood? Sorry dude...not even remotely in the same realm! Christa looks like a saint compared to Lilly.
Hence why I maintain: Lilly is the more controversial character and has more potential to add to the TFS story than Christa.
I was talking about the notion of Christa being straightlaced.
"Straightlaced" means excessively strict in manners, morals or opinion....so how exactly does Christa's no-nonsense attitude and criticism of Lee not fit that description? I think you made my case for me...
Oh, I thought that meant in a perfect goody two-shoes type of way.
Whatever.
No I see what you meant...easy to interpret it a different way.
Bottom line for me is: she is strict enough in her morals that I would never question whether she is good or bad (unlike Lilly).
I've mentioned this before, but I would have preferred that season 2 stuck with following Clem, Christa, and Omid, rather than killing off Omid and then getting rid of Christa so quickly. Losing Omid later in the season and then potentially Christa would have packed more of an impact than losing an entire group of people we barely met. We would have likely ended up in the same place as season 4 anyway, with Clem raising Christa and Omid's child instead of Rebecca and Alvin's. But there's no going back (HA got em) now.
I haven't noticed Kenny being mention in finale season. When was that? Also you don't have to pick the Lee option every time. You can pick the 'I've had lots of people look after me.' I think Clem mentions Lee most because he was more important to her. He was the reason she even lived passed that first day and he was the one that taught her, her first lessons.
In this case I think Christa's death would be the worst death in TWD.
If you shot Kenny to save Jane in S2/the story generator, Clem can mention Kenny as 1 of up to 2 people she killed during the card game.
Oh, cool.
