Who would be that cruel? Marlon is about the same age as Clem, maybe 18, and based on what we know of the timeline, Clem would have been born around 94, which means Marlon was born around 94, too. Again, I'll ask you, who in the 90s names their kid Marlon? No wonder he was a "troubled youth." With a name like Marlon he was probably getting picked on and having to fight all the time.

Marlon is apparently French for "little falcon." Maybe it was supposed to represent him trying to be a guiding force ("a falcon"), but failed miserably ("little"), so thus little (not quite there) and not just falcon or big falcon.
i personally like the name m'self but i guess it is pretty unique. i aint never heard it b4. some parents r weird thou, mine was gonna call me porche, no kiddin -_-' thankfully they didnt.
The only Marlon I can think of in history is Marlon Brando. It's just a really old name. It's like naming a kid Hazel or Clyde.

Anyway, with a girl's name and my last name being a girl's name as well, just imagine how many people thought that I was a girl. Season 1 is 2003. Season 2 is 2005. Season 3 is 2008. Season 4 is 2012. The only one we know for sure is Season 1, since we know from Kirkman's own words the year the ZA started in the comics is 2003 and the TellTale games adhere to the comic lore. Every season beyond that is just a best approximation based on Clem and AJ's aging. Maybe this season will confirm it for us but I won't hold my breath.

Nope. It released in May of 2003. So it released earlier the same year the walkers appeared, but Marlon would have been around 8 or 9, maybe even 10 when that movie released.

I wonder if his mullet is supposed to be some light reference to Eugene in the comics. Eugene was pretending to be a government scientist to maintain control over Abraham and Rosita. Maybe Marlon's mullet is symbolizing him pretending to have his shit together and not be terrified so he can maintain leadership of the kids.
Most kids back then in the 90s and 2000s were named after family members. irl my first name is my father's while my middle is my Grandmother's maiden name. I don't think it's just a 90s thing.
I have a fairly normal base name, but one of the most bizarre spellings of it: Aleksandar. It's a very Eastern European spelling of it, which is in honour of my 1/3 Russian and Polish heritage, I think. I'm (Caucasian) American by the way, lol. I don't think she has a canon birthday, does she? We know she turned 9 during the first season, and it takes place during 2003, but I don't think it ever gave her exact birthday, did it? Besides, she will be 24 this year, regardless of when her birthday actually is.
I know she would be 24 this year. she never had a canon birthday but the outbreak started during July and Lee survived for about 3 months into the outbreak before dying. The stranger says that Clem's birthday was 6 days ago which suggest that when Lee finds the stanger, it is about Nov 2nd.
