What happened to Lee's axe?

The one he's holding on the cover.

He found it at the motor inn with Glenn. He used it to chop that guys leg off in the woods.

It was a bit a bit of a trademark weapon for him to start. I just remember when I was with the stranger, he didn't have it any more. Did he drop/lose it at one point, that I missed?

    The St.Johns took it, and everything else Lee had when they put him in the meat locker

    He likely dropped it when he and Mark were attacked the bandits while maintaining the St. John's fence

    left at the diary when they take lees stuff after knocking him out and thrown him in the meat locker
