Walking Dead Season 1 coming to Nintendo Switch (Season 2 + ANF later this year)

I didn't see a thread already posted on this so I'm sharing this:

Season One of The Walking Dead Arrives on Nintendo Switch Next Week!

https://telltale.com/news/2018/08/season-one-of-the-walking-dead-arrives-on-nintendo-switch-next-week-/

The Complete First Season includes all five original episodes, as well as add-on anthology 400 Days. Both have been ported from last year's The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series Collection, which offered substantial visual and performance enhancements over previous editions. The full game, including all five episodes and 400 Days, will be available for download starting August 28 for $24.99 in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and most of Europe.

We didn't want to stop with Season One, though, which is why The Walking Dead: Season Two and The Walking Dead: A New Frontier will also launch on Switch later this year. ...

Comments

  • It makes sense that they're releasing the seasons individually rather then rereleasing the collection. Since releasing the 3 games individually means that Telltale can set a total MSRP of $75 instead of $50, and because that way they don't have to spend time and resources on Michonne.

  • 25 is a bit steep but it does come with 400 days, so not too bad from other games they ported over. The other seasons will be coming at a later date so the price inflation isn't as jarring like if they were all released at once.

  • Sweet! I don't know if I'll have the cash on hand when it launches, but you bet I'll be trying.

  • Cool for switch users, though this part has me worried:

Both have been ported from last year's The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series Collection, which offered substantial visual and performance enhancements over previous editions.

Considering I've heard that the Collection features numerous choice bugs, normal bugs, changed gameplay segments and outright removal of iconic elements... this isn't exactly the definitive version people may want.
If this is indeed the Collection version, it might have the Netflix-style menu and omission of Take Us Back...

  • They might not notice if they haven't played it before, still a shame though. Crazy that the originals are a more complete edition than the "definitive" ones. Finally got around to beating S1 of the collection earlier. I still can't believe they just used the default credits music. Don't even switch it up for one of the better tracks already in the game? I got no idea when I'll get around to S2, I shut the game down, shut the system down, unhooked it and hooked up my PS4. I just couldn't lol.

  • I haven't played it yet, but I have opened the game once. Needless to say, the first impression was not so good.

As the title screen faded in, the game as well as the music froze for about 10 seconds, continually stuttering with no input recognised.

Off to a great start, Telltale.

  • Well, if it turns out it's not worth getting, I'll just wait to buy Undertale since that's the next Switch game I'm interested in.

I'd be very surprised if nothing's fixed from the Collection version for Switch, considering the amount of effort being put towards the final season. I won't mind how the choices carry over to TFS since I won't be getting ANF, but I would be at least a bit cross if I save Carley/Doug but then it's brought up later as Doug/Carley.

  • How does The final season run on Switch?

  • I've heard it runs well

How does The final season run on Switch?

  • A big controversial point about the collection in this community is the removal of the Glass Shard from Season 1 Episode 5's horde scene.

Even if you have two arms attached to Lee, he still only uses the Butcher's Cleaver.
Really, this has to do with the gameplay changes to the collection in which they removed the whole "4 directions" control scheme (up/down/left/right d-pad style) for Quick Time Events, and replaced it with the newer "PRESS R2 TRIGGER BUTTON" for every QTE action. In doing this, they removed the option to choose between using two weapons in Episode 5. Lee is even seen clutching something although his hand is now empty...

And yeah, there's the whole removal of licenced music and changing of the menus to make it all look uniform.

Honestly, nothing about the visual overhauls struck me as such an improvement it justified the omissions. A definitive edition should be the original game improved and added onto to justify it's existence, not shadows added in and cutting a bunch of stuff that added to the experience.

  • I also heard that 'Saints Row: The Third' will be joining 'Switch' in 2019, but no price has been confirmed yet.

  • Not sure what animations they fixed, couldn't have been big enough for me to notice. As far as bugs go, everyone talking about the games issues brings up how often decisions don't register right, sounds alot worse than the originals issues.

  • Stop with the gangsta talk man, and a lot of people complained about the save data issue. Most reviews seemed half assed, at best, just covering the S1 "enhanced" graphics. A lot of people seem to have an issue with saves importing right.
