Public Icons are determined mainly by fame, popularity, frequency of appearance in media, and by Influence, not by individual opinion.
So Icons aren't perceived as such because of the opinions of individuals?
You can try to say Indiana Jones isn't an Iconic character as well, and you'd be just as wrong.
I couldn't, because Indiana Jones has had several movies throughout the 80s and late 2000's, all of which have generated $1.9B in total. He's been all over television, video games and books. His character has been recognized around the world by hundreds of millions of people for past 3 decades(37 years to be exact).
Mario is an iconic character, as well as Sonic, Ryu, Pikachu, Spongebob, the list could go on. Clementine isn't an iconic character. Maybe within Telltale's little circle of video game characters she is
Actually, that's not how it works.
I'll explain once more: Public Icons are determined mainly by fame, popularity, frequency of appearanc… moree in media, and by Influence, not by individual opinion. I'm quite sure popular opinion would say Clem is iconic here, but that's only part of it. You can try to say Indiana Jones isn't an Iconic character as well, and you'd be just as wrong.
Facts are facts. Arguing against that will lead to something called an argumentative paradox, which means you will end up arguing with yourself. It's already proven through overwhelming and apparent evidence which is right in front of us that Clementine is an Iconic character, so why you're still arguing on this single point I seriously have no idea.
Yeah....As much as I love Clementine, her character isn't really that iconic like Sonic and Mario level.
Its more of she's well known within the Telltale games but outside not really. I mean a lot of people when talking about Iconic Video Game Characters would say like Sonic, Mario, Pikachu, etc. Clem isn't really apart of that "Iconic Video Game Character" Circle.
Tbh The Walking Dead Game all together i would say isn't really on that level of popularity of most Iconic/Well Known Video Game franchises. I feel like it kind of died down after Season 1 where there are people that talk about it but its not like WORLDWIDE popular if you get what I'm saying. Its kind of like one of those Good hidden games. That's not saying that the Walking Dead is a bad game franchise just not SUPER MEGA popular.

No I do not prefer a happy ending. This is Walking Dead not Walking Delight. As Jane was once quoted "Everyone's luck runs out and Molly is quoted as saying "In the end the Dead always win". These were grown up tough survivors. They were stronger and more clever than Clemmy and ultimately didn't make it (Molly unconfirmed?) How is it possible Clem escapes the inevitable consistently and easily as a 16 year old without help?
Exactly. I would say the feeling's something closer to sadness though. There's just something cathartic when it comes to sad stories that make you feel torn up inside as opposed to happy stories.
I think you're too attached to Clem. You should learn to let go, and like Clem said, learn to say goodbye.
I resonate with this. I l… moreike her character, but I'd love it if she'd die. I like being stripped of all the characters I care about in fiction. It really makes you feel, you know? Maybe not sadness or anger, but you do feel something.
I was thinking about it, and although Clem's death would be a sad and to many disappointing ending, it may not be that bad. Maybe it'd symbolize that everyone dies at some point in the apocalypse, or something like that - it could be a good dot at the end of Clementine's story.
I could already imagine Clementine's death scene looking something like this: After long and tough battle with walkers(and maybe some villains), she breaks her way through and sits down somewhere, with no one around her. Unfortunately, she's badly injured and bitten and she's soon going to turn. She's in tears, but then "Faded" song (yh I know this is questionable but I like it when I think about it, but it could be any other sad song) starts playing in the background and she starts thinking about Lee and her parents and she starts smiling while tears slide down her face, and then, as the main part of the song starts we see her eyes turning that pale color zombies get, and her face slowly starts showing signs of zombification. Before she manages to fully reanimate, she, with the last bits of strength, picks up a gun and shoots herself.
Making an audience bond with a character for 6 years and then killing said character off just to make your audience feel something has a name mate, it's called bad writing.
It definitely isn’t “bad writing” if it’s done in a certain way.

Please take it down a notch guys, it's getting a little tense. Had to remove a couple of comments. Remember R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Arguments are fine, but please steer clear of insults and jerky posts, alright? Thanks.
Just because she's not AS popular as the other characters, does not mean she's not Iconic. The Walking Dead series is critically acclaimed and has won dozens of game of the year awards. I have a feeling you don't actually know how popular Telltale games are.

Season 1 is actually what made Clem Iconic in the first place I think. But you're correct on saying she's not Iconic to the level of other characters, but not on the point that she's not known that well outside of the Telltale community, Pewdiepie made sure of that. The point isn't her level of fame, it's that she is Iconic. Whether or not she's Iconic to the extent of characters like Mario does not matter. And trust me, the ending of Season 4 does have an affect on the gaming community and industry outside of Telltale. I feel like I keep having to use Mass Effect as an example of this with its bad writing.

Actually, it turns out that Clem was tougher and more clever than all of them, which is why she survives and they don't. You're forgetting there are dialogue choices which conflict with those of Jane and Molly. You're using story decisions as an example of consensus which I already pointed out is flawed. Those "Grown up, tough survivors" started surviving just at the same time as Clementine, it's not like they were born during the crisis.

Wrong. Good endings are not necessarily happy, and vice versa. You're thinking in a definitive case for some reason. I would like a Happy Ending as it would show some diverse writing for once in TWD universe, but even if Clem survives that does not necessarily mean it would be a Happy Ending. Remember what I said about replay value. I remember certain TV Series that had horrible and depressing endings and I will most likely never watch them again. So it would be best if Clem survived and it WAS a happy ending.
Clementine surviving is the best ending for replay value, marketing, Telltale, and its community. It's just the truth.
Cliché and definitely a horrible ending. I'm pretty sure in any ending where Clem died it would be horrible, as it could be seen from a mile away, among other things.

On what level? She's only "iconic", as you put it, within Telltale's lineup of video game characters. Outside of that, she's a worm beneath notice(Darkseid voice ). A character's only truly iconic when people from third world countries can recognize them. They don't get the same exposure we do, so if they see Mario or Pikachu, or one of those other characters that are actually iconic, i'm pretty sure they'd be able to recognise them since their faces have literally been all over the world for many years.

Lee didn't survive and that game has the best replay value among all the season's to me and probably to majority of others as well. Season one was most memorable and marketed the best by winning all kinds of awards up the ass and copies sold. Yet has the most depressing ending of not only a Telltale game but any game of all time I'd be willing to wager.

I don’t think Telltale is going to have different endings because when they first started writing season 4, they started out with the ending. If they do have different endings, I don’t think they’ll be too different from each other.

That excludes her from death?
Would be more interesting. and make you think on it longer. Versus them playing baseball with Javi in the sunset.
Exactly, but people want one of those “happy ending” things??♂️

Happy endings belong in Pixar, Disney and Dreamwork's.
Exactly. I would say the feeling's something closer to sadness though. There's just something cathartic when it comes to sad stories that make you feel torn up inside as opposed to happy stories.

Not really. Seeing Clem survive through it all would be amazing to me and would definitely give me better memories than some Clichéd death ending.
You just keep honking that tune, smart guy, like it means something.
Ok? There's no need for hostility. I'm quite sure it does mean something, but if you see otherwise, that's your viewpoint.
Depends on what you mean by "Happy Ending."
how are you running for mod? that's literally the no.1 requirement for being a mod, you have to acknowledge clem's adorableness!
Yes.
Yeah,
like if Clem needs to kill AJ at the end because he's too dangerous but Clem is still alive,is this a happy ending ?
I'm not really running for the position, i'm next in line to be crowned mod, so yeah.
No. Like, not even close.

......That's actually a pretty happy ending you have there.
She started the series with a massive amount of plot armor?
Hey hey hey. You can say anything you want, but don't you dare call her hat dumb and old
How does that happen?
Long as I don't touch it I'm in the clear.
But D for dumb and it is old with holes and Lee's blood stains.
It certainly doesn’t help that the mobile port for it sucks, S3 is something I refuse to ever finish
oh glad to hear man, hope you get crowned soon lol good luck anyways and you do you
Right.

Well you'd have nothing to worry about when the finale arrives I would say.
I don’t think Telltale is going to have different endings because when they first started writing season 4, they started out with the ending. If they do have different endings, I don’t think they’ll be too different from each other.
Eh, nothing very special without that ending. Predictable and cliche
And not an ending you wanna work a season up to, I'm sure they got something more interesting in mind than, bitten, feels, death.
