  • Hey, I ain't gotta pay for shit right now.
Especially since "good" thus far means 2 or so hours of mostly inoffensive eh.

  • Oh, whoopty doo, it's better than a glorified spinoff that suffered from years of essential development hell, churned out one hour long episodes with cut corners, took a fair bit of risks/deviations in it's setup, and is generally considered to be the worst put together of the games.

    High marks indeed.

  • I actually agree with DabigRG, the story was obviously changed. And I don't mean the immediate plan from creating ANF, I mean when the team started working. The same thing happens with TWAU, they announce the story but no actual work is done, because a majority of the team is still working on other games. Since the discussion is taking a pit-stop divergence here, I might aswell comment on the deleted scenes. @DabigRG there was obviously much more work that ended up in the cutting room floor but as the team's process is more refined and convenient now, nothing significant was actually developed.

To help people fathom this, look at the April gameplay and screenshots. Although they'd already had lots of stuff down, from the gameplay especially you can see that the story perhaps hadn't been forwarded enough to where it is now. Clem was ANF short, had her 'Hero Clem' (promo art) gear still on, and the train station looked different, most notable of those differences were the sky colour. Look at ANF in June 2016 E3, the game's direction, characters, narrative/plot, around 50% Clem/Javi. What do you think the story would look like in February, 6 months before Ep1, just like ANF E3? It seems as though the deleted scenes were put close to the release. Still, I hope there is more about old scenes and the storyline that we could hear about, I'll ask in an AMA.

To give my 2 cents on what a lot of people are saying - no, I don't think that is supposed to be a part of today's storyline. But Telltale may go back and give Clem and AJ that look with the supposeed McCaroll Ranch flashback.

  • I don't mind they mostly leave ANF in the trashcan where it belongs but I wouldn't mind a flashback or dream sequence of the events at the Ranch, the trailer kinda hints to that anyways.
