this is all wrong
So, this is the thing- that trailer was incredible. If the person speaking wasn't Lilly, it would've been fine. But they've made her unambiguously appear as the villain, which entirely defeats the purpose of her return. I don't care how much you guys disliked Lilly, it isn't up for debate- she was not a villain. Up until the deaths in Episode 3, she was equally as much of a protagonist as Kenny. She showed care for Lee, the kids, and the whole group while she acted as leader. Is she a great person? Hell no. But she shouldn't be acting like fucking Carver!
I'm hoping Telltale will prove me entirely wrong by providing choice, but in that trailer it seemed undeniable that she's the primary antagonist. Honestly, if Lilly turns out to be Carver 2 then I at least hope another character (Christa) returns, since I was under the impression that the returning character(s) we were promised would actually retain their characteristics.

Lol you were under the impression that Lily or Christa would have the same characteristics 7-8 years later? There’s no evidence that she will be like carver, if anything, another Jane.
It's another reworking of the original plan for "Carver" during Season 2's early conceptualization.
And to be somewhat fair, Christa initially caught flak in part because she was essentially a more active replacement for Lily(and Carley) than Omid was from Duck(and Doug).
this is all right
I doubt they will make her a pure villain, I got a feeling the first encounter isn't going to be very pleasant tho.
So what if she wasn't a villain back then? Doesn't mean she can't become one. Maybe she just became hardened, started looking at everything differently idk. And I don't think you can compare her to Kenny really. Regardless of how well you act towards her and even if you say you're going to leave with her and Clem, she still leaves you behind. So she had an antagonist like characteristic anyway, and through time she probably turned into a Carver 2.0
Either way, this season could use a good villain.
I Don't care what Lilly does or did,im with her till the end or if Kenny shows up ...or Christa xD
Lilly won’t be a villain.. if you look at the trailer, those clips weren’t even in the same scenes at all. It’s called editing and hey’re making it look like she’ll be this super bad guy but I highly doubt she won’t be bad
I am thinking redemption plot.
None at this point is going to be remotely like they were back in S1.
As for Lily being a villain, I can see it being possible so long as it isn't Lily's motivation from being left/leaving in S1.
Yeah, this kinda screams of character derailment.
You can’t expect someone to have the same personality 7-8 years later, epsicially in the world they live in. I don’t think it was a threat to Clem - more of a warning. She’s telling her that if she continues to protect AJ as Lee protected Clem, she’ll go down the same path. Plus, Telltale’s trailers can be very misleading for shock factor.
i will fight u
i'm not expecting an identical character, i'm expecting lily. she just isn't the kind of person who would stick with a group of rapists, nor one who would stand on clem's neck
We really don’t know who Lilly is. Lilly is mentally disturbed. She masks her feelings and bottles them up until they explode. She’s embracing the power she has now, as seen in the trailer.
my bad, i should've clarified- i didn't mean that the scenes indicated she was villain, it was her lines- it seems pretty clear to me that, at least from the trailer's version of Clem, Lily is intended as an enemy, not a friend or even neutral
i suppose that's a good point- we really didn't see much of her after her mental break. i just really don't see her becoming an antagonist if they want to keep with her character. i get that 7-8 years is a long time, especially in the apocalypse, but lily showed compassion above Kenny at some points in season one and i really don't want her to be wasted
honestly same, i try to be fair but if i see an old character im just like fuck everyone else
Like I said, she’s masks her feelings. She wants to see things from other peoples’ perspectives, but I feel like people often forget to look at hers.
It's pretty common for heroes/good characters to become evil after some trials or tribulations. Although I don't think Lily is a straight up villain your expectation that she would be the same after being ditched by her group plus the 8 year gap is naive... Here's some good examples below of fallen heroes/characters:
Kain from Legacy Of Kain:
Big Boss from Metal Gear:
Gabriel from Castlevania Lord Of Shadows:
Liu Kang from Mortal Kombat:
Kazuya from Tekken:
you're probably right to be honest, i just find it hard to believe because my Lily was so different from her portrayal in the trailer, i guess i should accept that she couldve changed totally over such a long time
Egh.
It's ultimately up to the backstory explanation to remedy some of this, but it doesn't really change the somewhat forced, shabby nature of it.
i honestly don't know how to feel about it, i really hope they explain this character shift right, otherwise it seems more like a character murder than a change
It'll probably be that regardless, but yes, give something else to care about the reinforcement it needs when be nice.
Lilly a bitch. When I meet her, she dead.
That doesn’t mean she can’t become a villain.
She might be part of the whisperers, i don't think clem says "don't you ever say his name" to Lilly at all, i think it's someone else and its about AJ
