TFS is NOT Cancelled

Or at least not officially. The site that stated that TFS was cancelled has supposedly had a number of inaccuracies, so I think it's safe to say that it's fake news.

  • Ok but that doesn't mean it's NOT cancelled.

  • Telltale themselves have yet to confirm this and so far there's only been one source.

Ok but that doesn't mean it's NOT cancelled.

  • they fired their lead writer and all their marketing staff, no trailers/teasers or anything. Plus their writer said not to hold your breath for ep 3 and 4

  • Yeah just because there's been inaccuracies doesn't mean it's not cancelled. At best it means it's not officially confirmed.

  • I am not holding my breath for episode 3 and 4 tbh.

  • Even if it isn't, it's probably half-assed. This is a sad, sad day.

  • Are you sure? Was this from Matt Kim? Smells like Fake News Bullshit.

  • The only reason they haven’t officially announced TFS being canceled is because they need to also comment about the refunding policy.

What’s gonna happen if it does get canceled? I mean we paid for 4 episodes. If we dont get 4 episodes everyone who paid for TFS legally deserves a refund or partial refund. I just wanted an end for Clementine’s story, Skybound better fucking swoop this up and finish the project or something. If not I will personally believe that the series ended at S2.

  • Spoiler alert: there probably won't be one.

  • Story has already been planned out entirely from the start. There's no need to market the game any further if they already know they're closing down and bankrupt. The writer who tweeted was laid off today and might be understandably upset and not in the loop.

Telltale CEO would have told us earlier if they weren't going to finish the season. They have a crew on board to finish out their obligations, that includes TFS that people have paid for as well as Minecraft deal they made with Netflix.

  • Oh, man. If this is true, someone out there is going to pay DEARLY for it.

Clementine deserves a satisfying ending. TWD S1 Turned this company from obscure to mainstream. I don't want a bloody refund, so I hope to god your right Ralo.

  • Exactly I understand she was upset over being laid off,but until we have a official statement from the CEO. We shouldn't listen to anything until we hear from the CEO. Btw? I am still hopeful of the final season releasing the other episodes 3&4

  • Hope so.
But TellTale Games page on twitter, which is using Clementine picture as its avatar, still didn't mention that TFS is going to be released as scheduled too, actually it's their biggest game right now with lots of stuff and content in their twitter page. They avoided to be clear about TFS fate for unknown reasons.
This isn't really promising for the future of the game.

  • To be fair, the statement said they were keeping 25 to fulfill obligations to board and partners, said nothing about fans. They had a contract with Netflix for some Minecraft bullshit so if they're working on that, with only 25 people still on staff, not all of whom would be actual developers, that leaves no one to work on TFS.

  • ERMAGERD FAEK NEWS!

I'm not to hopeful given that the only thing we've heard so far from TTs CEO was they kept a skeleton crew onboard to fulfill their obligations to their partners and board, or whatever. Right before partner Netflix confirmed TTs Minecraft series would still be made.

  • Whatever. I payed for 4 episodes, I sure as hell better get 4 episodes.

  • All we can do is wait and see. Until we have an official statement from Telltale, we can only guess.

  • Kinda disgusting how they never mentioned any obligation to the FANS. I've bought almost every Telltale game on the day of release. The fact that they haven't officially come out and said TWD isn't cancelled has me really worried.

  • I’m done with games. Seriously. I’ve never been invested in anything more in my entire life. If they really aren’t doing 3 & 4 I’m done.

  • Yeah, it doesn't look great.

  • Not in denial, I'm focusing on facts. Fact is that they said they're keeping a crew on to finish up their obligations. TFS is one of their obligations, a product that people have already paid for. Pete made several statements earlier that they're not completely shutting down. Stop spreading unconfirmed information from disreputable sources.

  • They must have some sort of contract with Skybound to finish the season right?

  • first friday the 13th the game cancelled and now this. i'll stop playing video games, I swear.

  • Imma drop a saltlick on their heads if they canned the season xD

I hope those unconfirmed sources about when they said The Final Season was gonna get cancelled are pretty much assholes for what they are spreading, right now.

Wasn't the disreputable source the one who confirmed nearly everything before TT did? I mean, apart from the studio closing, they only released the majority of their workers without severance. I don't know whether customers fall under the category of business partners or board members, who Pete specifically said they would be fulfilling their obligations to them, so that's kind of suspect. I hope they finish the game, but they were pretty specific about the wording.

They CANT finish TWD guys, they pretty much laid off the whole team behind the game

  • The only source we have is one dude on Twitter who didn't even cite any of his sources. I think we should hold off on making assumptions until we get an official statement from Telltale themselves.

  • Thinking logically, the entire TFS staff was fired. We are on episode 2 of 4, not even halfway done yet, and the people making the game are gone.

TFS, unless picked up by another company/saved by Skybound, will not be completed.

As far as refunds. I doubt we will get one. The company is gone. They gave us a Pre-order pack that included every TWD game and spin off for free. They can spin it to a way that says we got our 20 dollars worth, even if the promised new story only goes to two episodes.

  • They should push forward and finish TFS, despite all of the obstacles. Axing the series only two episodes shy of its conclusion will NOT be worth the years (decades?) of bad publicity left behind. The stink would follow Pete Hawley for the rest of his life.

  • Lolwut, 2 out of 4 is halfway done

Not to mention the fact that they already know the story for the entire season

  • You need to pay attention to wording. The statement said they were gonna continue to work on obligations to board and partners. They said nothing about obligations to fans.

Their obligations to their board is to make as much money as possible.

Their obligations to their partners (Netflix) is to make the games they were contractually obligated to make. Netflix already confirmed that their stupid Minecraft project was moving forward. There's only 25 people left in the company and not all will be devs capable of actually working on games. If the few devs they do have are busy with Netflix's Minecraft bullshit, who is gonna finish TFS?
