Telltale clearly doesn't have the money to pay a team anymore.

Skybound does. TWD is their biggest franchise and many people got into TWD because of the Telltale series. I can’t see them just letting the game die out.

This other set of developers you speak of wouldn't do it for free and Telltale clearly doesn't have the money to pay a team anymore.

  • There may be more options for Telltale than we thought

That is what I said. They hire a temporary team from a company I don't know. Xbox? Then that company will buy out Telltale and then Xbox will renew those seasons like The Wolf Among Us Season 2. They will have what Telltale gots. Like the engine or something like graphics. If they are not bankrupt. Then they hire that temporary team to finish the Final Season and then sign a contract with either Xbox or any other company to renew all seasons of Telltale games. Think about it. I am right.

  • Buddy why would they fire The Walking Dead team only to rehire a different team like, I know we are all in denial mode right now I want the game finished too but look outside man! We already hit the iceberg and the ship is almost under

  • They are almost flat broke, so people came to the conclusion that they filed for bankruptcy. They are not bankrupt, but they have very little money.

That was a decision made by Telltale to keep their company barely alive, Skybound had no say.
If Telltale cannot finish the game Skybound has the rights to the TWD property and can hand the project to another team if the chose to.

That is a legal discussion that I would bet money neither of us have the knowledge to have

But I'm fairly sure that Skybound would have to pay both Telltale who have rights to the game and the new team lets say Dontnod just cuz they are the closest to Telltale. I doubt it'd be worth the trouble

  • Still though, let's say that your theory of a contract cancellation is correct and they aren't filing for bankruptcy. Even if that's true, it's not going to be easy for Telltale after this. Who in their right mind would want to apply for a job or work for this company after they fired 90% of their staff with no warning, no severance, and a threat to leave the premises in 30 minutes? Not only that, but even if every single former employee were to be offered their job back, after being treated like shit for so long and with this, they're either going to tell them to go fuck themselves, or come back just out of desperation for a job while putting most of their effort into looking for a much better position with another company.

  • I never let them bite

    And if they try.....

  • Come on, play it right.

  • I wouldn't, I don't own an Xbox and the last thing I'd want is for Telltale and their properties to become an Xbox exclusive.

    strwar3 posted: »

I think they should give to Xbox or some company to help it. I mean will anybody be ok if Xbox/Microsoft buys out Telltale? I mean I might let it happen. The downside is Xbox is probably going to make exclusive.

  • Misinterpretion from the headlines and stories about Telltale filling for Bankruptcy. Even though they have little money? Then why would the title of every article say Telltale The Walking Dead Final Season is cancelled and Telltale filling bankruptcy. I mean I am losing my mind right now. So far nothing seems confirmed, right now if Telltale is officially cancelled The Final Season. It is more like a setup with headline that says and yet not much confirmation from it.

    Trolled how?

What do you mean bruv. Skybound owns all of the rights to TWD, Telltale has no rights to the franchise or characters. If Skybound would be willing to fund it they could definitely do it. It’s just a matter of if they will or not.

Edit: u just edited your comment a shit ton. This was just my reply to your first statement.

  • To clarify, it's not my theory. It's the reporter's. And it's just a possible scenario. He didn't claim it was what he necessarily believed to be the case.

That being said, I do not think Telltale plans to stick around after the situation regarding this game resolves. They haven't been profitable as a business, recognize that, and are taking steps to close. That's what I'm assuming anyway.

Those employees who were fired aren't going to be offered their jobs back.

  • Fuck this. I haven't slept for a full day, it's Saturday and I've had my eyes glued to the PC all this time trying to make sense of all this only to be constantly misinformed at every turn. I'm turning my PC off and my notifications and going to get some well-needed rest and wait patiently for Ep 2 to drop. I can't be bothered anymore. Not right now.

  • I’d be pretty pissed too.

  • Yeah, ikr. But on the other hand it is really nice to see devs being passionate about these problems. Something bad always needs to happen at Telltale for devs to speak their mind on the problems with Telltale.

Oh come on, no official cancellation? Now the guy is just playing around with semantics. The COMPANY IS GONE. They laid everyone but 25 folks off on a 30 minute notice. Those people are all out on the street and looking for jobs; they arent gonna make finishing TWD for free their priority. Unless he has an investor with a lot of money hidden somewhere to pretend this wasnt over or that they arent bankrupt is just denial. I mean when you lay off 90% of your work force, YOU ARE BROKE.Give it to us straight, yo.

  • I’m getting these warm fuzzy feelings from getting bad news, then good news, then bad news, then some more good news ?
