dudes all im going to say is this... steam activity for episode 3...is active finished 9 hours ago today!! so if all the team has been fired who has the coding knowledge
This just in: Articles stating that Telltale has gone bankrupt are FALSE. According to the reporter in direct contact with the CEO, they hav… moree NOT filed for bankruptcy. The journalists that said so are misinformed.
There may be more options for Telltale than we thought.
Telltale is not bankrupt. This was just recently confirmed by the reporter in direct talk with the CEO. It is semantics, yes, since they basically have no money. But the CEO tweeted himself the Telltale company will continue on as a small 25 staff for the forseeable future. And it is to be inferred that the 'large scale closure' is in direct reference to the firing of majority staff, not complete closure of the company. Basically, everything looks to be in limbo at the moment. It is possible the CEO is in talks with other potential investors. We can't say for sure until official word comes (hopefully) on Monday.
Oh come on, no official cancellation? Now the guy is just playing around with semantics. The COMPANY IS GONE. They laid everyone but 25 folk… mores off on a 30 minute notice. Those people are all out on the street and looking for jobs; they arent gonna make finishing TWD for free their priority. Unless he has an investor with a lot of money hidden somewhere to pretend this wasnt over or that they arent bankrupt is just denial. I mean when you lay off 90% of your work force, YOU ARE BROKE.Give it to us straight, yo.
Fuck this. I haven't slept for a full day, it's Saturday and I've had my eyes glued to the PC all this time trying to make sense of all this… more only to be constantly misinformed at every turn. I'm turning my PC off and my notifications and going to get some well-needed rest and wait patiently for Ep 2 to drop. I can't be bothered anymore. Not right now.
Maybe the story has already been written and is still going to be released on the days that they promised us? I worry about the jobs of the people that were let go from Telltale... I am sure the CEO wouldn’t want a bad name either...
recent steam activity. I personally don't think all of the walking dead staff have been fired, just the people they don't need to finish the last 2 episodes. (now i could be wrong but still why alter a cancelled game, i still can't get my head around that)
It is possible the CEO is in talks with other potential investors.
Which is why I think Mircosoft might buy them or some other company. You know I am right. Because look my angle. If Telltale gets buy out from either Microsoft (probably Microsoft cause they see big money and they need a Detriot Beyond Human Franchise)or me other company. They can just renew the franchises that got cancelled and move forward from there. I mean you think that is possible? Because I do.

This is not the case. Several ex-devs already confirmed the entire Walking Dead staff has been fired. Also episode 4 was only recently handed off to the art team. It was not far along development. I doubt the remaining 25, even if they finished Minecraft for Netflix, would have the appropriate skillset and resources to finish the episodes. But if they do, hey, more power to them.

This could actually be an interesting move for them if they can keep the rights for some of the franchises TT was working with. A potentially cheap way to get their hands on a bunch of IPs.

I don't think Microsoft would want to buy Telltale in its current state. I could see them, however, open up a completely new studio with ex-Telltale employees. Similar to Campo Santo and Nightschoolers. I think, i'd prefer that because they could start from scratch with a completely new structure.

I don’t know the specifics of TT’s contracts with those IPs, but it is possible that they have the rights to make an X amount of games or use them for an X amount of time. If that’s the case, a company that purchased TT could have the option of maintaining these rights.
What is the benefit to buying Telltale, exactly? Only two of their games turned a profit, the teams are all gone, and all their IPs are licensed out. I'm pretty sure Skybound owns Clementine. The only thing you would be getting is the assets for the unfinished games, and you'd still have to work out the licensing, presumably.
the last update was hours ago, right? they probably were only updating during the weekday. I wouldnt expect more steam updates until Monday, assuming the person who updated it was not one of the many fired.

They would update sometimes in weekends too, giving it off that people from Telltale were working on TFS even in weekends, they would update it late night their time zone in weekend, shows how much dedication the team had regarding TFS.

I think to be realistic, Telltale are probably looking at options and ways to complete TWD: TFS. If they do find a way or not, only then will we get an Official Statement.
maybe they have skilled people in the minecraft team who can animate/finish off and have enough money for the V/A and testing. As stated the company isnt bankrupt, it might have enough money to hire melissa and the rest of the voice actors for the final episode as episode 3 looks highly likely. (again just speculation)
Before we get a official statement. I have been on Twitter and isee a lot ppl saying Xbox buy out Telltale or Save Telltale. See everyone is thinking the same way I am. Xbox needs to counter Sony with episodic games and Telltale has that. Sony has Detroit Beyond Human and they had Until Dawn made by the same choices ppl like in their games where choices matter a lot.
It's impossible to finish the game with the current state of Telltale
Telltale is not bankrupt, nor is it shutting down. It is keeping 25 employees for the foreseeable future.
What can we gather from this? If the team isn't suited for finishing the game, and they have no plans to expand, but also aren't shutting down, its possible the CEO is looking to contract out the work to another studio, as some users have speculated. They have limited resources, however. And word is that they are unlikely to be bought out by another company. So with little to no investors, it makes me wonder what Telltale could have planned, if anything. Perhaps talks with Skybound for funds.
But I think they are taking time the next few weeks to decide the best course of action. That is why we have not heard anything official yet. They have to talk with all business partners first. (Pure speculation). I am sure either the game will release OR our money will be refunded. (Likely the latter, unfortunately).

You don't see potential where Xbox sees it. You do understand everybody on Twitter is saying what I am saying right now. This year in E3. Xbox saves 5 other companies from going away and I think they can do it again.

I am sorry but I have a question for you. Since the forums might shut down soon, I might not get another chance to ask. I've been seeing a lot of your comments and because of that I really want to ask - how old are you? Just for myself to know, sorry if I am straying off topic, but again I just want to know and I might not get another chance.

Bah, I'm even sadder and more depressed than I was yesterday. I think it will take some time for me to realize all this shit and go through all of this.

Its honestly the only smart call at this point. I wish I could follow through.

Does anyone else think that "Alive Inside" is the most depressing song on the planet?
I'd say the walking dead is still a go, due to the SkyBound Partnership. (But don't jump im just speculating)

After Microsoft announced they bought a bunch of developers at E3 to help them make great games, I can only hope they will do the same here.

any updates on the steam database?
(ps. the hairy bearded dude on twitter (direwolf)
the last update was hours ago, right? they probably were only updating during the weekday. I wouldnt expect more steam updates until Monday, assuming the person who updated it was not one of the many fired.
My thoughts exactly. Telltale also treated their employees like crap so there’s that too.
They do.
how do you check the database? been looking for a way to view it?

God Damn!
I can't see Skybound allowing this to end like this
You don't see potential where Xbox sees it. You do understand everybody on Twitter is saying what I am saying right now. This year in E3. Xbox saves 5 other companies from going away and I think they can do it again.
Especially in a genre where Microsoft has been severely lacking unlike Sony. But they should hire the people, not the company.

Turns out the situation between Telltale and its workers is even more unpleasant than we first thought.
