I mean, that definitely played a part in it, but only a little part. From being on Twitter this past week, most people have been saying it's Telltale's fault for not changing up their formula and releasing too many games a year.
Which I agree with, but people are being way too harsh on Telltale I think. How many developers out there do you know that can release multiple video games a year, and have them still turn out good? Zero I know of.
In fairness, A lot of people I have been talking too blame the demise of TT on PewDiePie as well. They say millions of people just watch him… more play Walking Dead rather than buy it. As with many of the games him, Jackseptic Eye and Markiplier play. TT woulda been wise to copyright strike his and all youtube players videos as well. It really does hurt a game when you got someone with his power spoiling everything to his core audience. Especially when it's a game so dependent on story.
Telltale: "We've managed to hand of The Final Season to a new developer! We're happy to announce that [insert name] Studio decided to take it upon themselves".
Fans: "Who?"
I wonder who it might end up being...
I kinda hope its a more AAA studio for a few reasons. For one it means they could probably adjust a… morend finish the game quicker. Next they have budget, and last because they might buy Wolf S2 while they are at it.
I just hope if its announced it isnt some nobody company that just makes us go "who?"

Honestly I doubt even the triplest of triple A studios could finish it any faster than TellTale had already scheduled. It'll take time for the new teams to learn the TellTale tool and be able to use it effectively. At best I think it'd take the same amount of time, but that's assuming they decide to go balls deep and really devote resources to it, which I'm not sure anyone would bother doing. If anyone picks it up I'm betting it'll be a back burner side project that they put half a team on then ignore it.

My hope is campo santo takes the lead given their history with the walking dead. I like dontnod but most likely there will be some editing work done to the script when the new company get their hands on it, and dontnod storytelling is meh.

But poogs, all of that doesn't matter if they don't have good writers.
I wonder if it is a AAA company and they brought the writers back. Would the employees even agree to finish the rest of the season?

Yeah, thats right. The same lead dev said that episode 3 was almost finished but not ready to be released. It would be released a month from now so we can guess how much work is still neaded. At least a month under normal circumstances.
Episode 4 is only done on script. Supposedly no other work (animations, VA, sound etc.) was even started.
Campo made Firewatch, and Pewdiepie said the N word and a bunch of other shit on his streams, so they told him he wasn't allowed to post videos of their game.
Episode 3 is practically done, episode 4 isnt, but in terms of script and writing for eps 3 and 4, its all 100% done. They just need to make it in game.
Honestly, the scripts were always the thing I was most worried about. Yes it's an entire team of people who makes it, but I think a lot of us can agree the last thing we want are outside writers coming in right in the middle of the game to try and come up with a satisfying ending to Clem's story.

I hope it's microsoft or someone huge too. Mostly because it'd increase the chances of them just taking TT's other seasons over as well. Sony and Microsoft are in never ending battle. I wouldn't doubt if one of them buys the rights for bragging rights. Maybe we'd get a new wolf among us, batman, minecraft, borderlands or ever a new walking dead game on a different story line similar to the Michonne stuff. But here I am dreaming again lol.
I prey to whatever gaming god their is that someone buys TT's properties and tries reigniting the damp kindling to get that fire going again. At the end of the day, TT has a lot of fans. And incredible interest. It's just the marketing was done very wrong. It can be fixed with the minds of juggernauts like Sony and Ubisoft or something.

I think the voice actors might do it even if it's difficult for them...at least the main/loyal ones like Melissa and Nikki [Clem and Lilly]. They seem to really love their characters.
I know your comment was directed to another user but I wanted to jump in and respond. To me, I do think there would be a fair amount of people who would return to finish The Final Season as it is their work. As long as they got a guarantee of severance pay as well as pay for the hours they spend working on the game then I think they would be more than happy to come back and finish it be it at Telltale or a Triple A Studio
But poogs, all of that doesn't matter if they don't have good writers.

I presume in case there is changes they want to make to the Story which could benefit it in some way if it doesn't look good on screen. But I do agree with you, if the script is complete then the need for writers is seemingly not necessary.... But I don't know what goes on in development so maybe writers are required to ensure what they envisioned when writing the story is what they want the game to look like. Hope I made sense
I am new to these two companies Camp Santo and Deck Nine. I mean if they good companies? Then it is okay with me. Also I hope someone gives Kevin Burner the middle finger when Telltales gives The Final Season to the new company. Lol I would love it. He is the reason and along AMC and Lionsgate for ruining this company. Fuck Them!
Pewds is a racist...he has said far too many things to be anything other than...but Vanaman came off as a jerk considering how much Pewds lets play helped them...Pewds is a sad parody of himself now...most people just go to watch Liwhy. We will see what happens...my money is on Valve...but Microsoft should not be ignored.
Not even that. The Pewdiepie situation was very...controversial. and I know a lot of people who refuse to buy from Campo Santo because of it. Campo Santo could do with some good publicity for a change. Just sayin'.
If some of the voice actors don’t continue can’t they just get different ones and have them voice the previous episodes so it wouldn’t just suddenly sound different in the rest of the episodes? You’d obviously have to keep Melisa and Nikki for Clem and Lily but other then that you could technically just use a different voice actor for the others and just update the previous episodes with their voiceover sense their characters first appeared in TFS.

TT woulda been wise to copyright strike his and all youtube players videos as well.
Lol wut? So you want a company that already has enough bad publicity to copyright strike a bunch of people? That would just make things worse for the company and cause even more people to not buy it.

Campo Santo has some of the talent from The Walking Dead Season One like Sean Vanaman and Jake Rodkin (not so sure if he is there or not). They released Firewatch a couple of years ago and it was a pretty successful game praised for its presentation and story and are currently working on a new game called "In The Valley of The Gods". As for Deck Nine..... I don't know them all that well... sorry

Sorry. Couldn't resist the urge.
I think it's the fact they bought way too many IPs instead of focusing on their current games.
Yes, I also agree with this.

He might do it just to give Bruner one last middle finger.
But poogs, all of that doesn't matter if they don't have good writers.

Why do they need writers tho? Script is already done. Nothing in terms of story to finish up, writers are not needed.
But what if they give it to a company called Who?
Script is finished and Telltale should own the script, they'd just give it to them and leave writers names in credits.
You didn't like BtS? I actually preferred it over the first season. Well until the final episode.
I did but I thought the writing was worse in BtS.
Really I thought it was much better
I thought it was only the script for episode 3 that was finished?
I think there was stuff saying EP 4's script was finished too.
My bad. That's good news at least.
No, the former lead dev confirmed that script for both episode 3 and 4 is finished. Script wise, everything is done.
I read episode 3 was almost finished and episode 4 had only the script done.

Didn't really earn them any brownie points though.

Please let the new company be Valve, then Clem can have access to the Portal gun and we might get to see GlaDOS as a walker.
I 110 per cent agree, they'll continue acting for there characters, not to sure about the rest of the cast though.
It's gonna be a bit odd hearing someone different voicing Louis or Vi if someone else ends up getting cast.

That sounds sorta racist there sparky...wanna rethink giving Pewds the racist a free pass?
