  • As much as I love Telltale's Walking Dead that's debatable. I think I'd rather not see an ending than see the franchise being milked to the last drop.

  • Nah its gonna be fine, just think of all the possibilities that EA can give us - e.g You could buy a new hat for Clem for 3.99$, or change the colour of her backpack for 1.99$... Or even change Her hairstyle for 7.49$...

But you'd finally get to choose between proper moral dillemas!

Would you be willing to: spend £1.99 to save Willy or spend £9.99 to save AJ?

That sounds sorta racist there sparky...wanna rethink giving Pewds the racist a free pass?

  • Is it even a possibility now for the company to be bought out and restarted from scratch?

Go back to around 100 employees and don't start expanding too quickly or too greedily, completely change up the management, and learn from your mistakes this time around

    (if only)

  • I don't know which company acquiring TFS would be worse: EA or Konami.
EA would certainly include microtransactions just for killing walkers , making choices or progressing from chapter to chapter, and Konami...well, who wouldn't be 'excited' to play TFS as part of a pachinko machine?

  • I mean, I guess it’s possible, someone like an angel investor can come in to try and save them.

However, not only would they still have to deal with the lawsuits from Kevin Bruner and the other employees, the company would have to completely rebrand itself. It might be the same company, but Telltale would be dead, the name (especially in the past week) has been dragged through the mud too much and it’s reputation destroyed. No one would come work for a company that treated its employees this way, not unless they were completely desperate that is. But it’s not just changing the name, it’s also going to have to be changing their business model. Which would probably mean no more licensed games, but a focus on original content, no more episodic stuff, basically a complete reversal of everything Telltale was. That would be the only way I can see them coming back from all this, and even then it’s a risky move.

  • Aww, let Bioware have a go at it. It's not like they've ever screwed up an ending before or anything.

If EA is the partner, lot of players can't kill any walkers and just constantly die because Clem's knife only comes with the handle, and the blade is a $19.99 DLC.

  • Telltale Games are screwed in every way possible, which is why they will most likely NOT be using TFS to earn more money to restart the company, rather the deal will be/should be
'Are you sure you can finish it?'
    'Yes.'
'Here ya go, you can profit from this now, but no more Telltale games, since we are the only company in the world who properly makes games from existing IP's like The Walking Dead, Borerlands. We're shutting down soon.'
'Thanks! Whoever still owns TFS will get the episodes for free, right?'
'Yes. There isn't a new game, it's the same one. That way no refunds necessary.'
'Thank you for letting us profit and grow from this! It's like we're in a relay race!'
'Mm, I doubt you'll make any money from that since it's the same game but whatever. Good day!'

I only recall a Polygon article saying that Netflix are not abandoning the game, they are continuing on with it in it's current format as TellTale was making it.

Look it up, I might be misinterpreting.

  • Could you explain to me how you think that deal might've worked? If you're having a talk with someone, and then pull out of that deal, nothing should happen to the company. Sure, they'd need to do some more layoffs but a majority closure? Do they pledge some money beforehand or something?

The chances of that happening ended when AMC and Smilegate abruptly ended their talks with Telltale.

  • edited September 2018

@Ghetsis The deal was supposed to be, at the very least, a financial investment in Telltale by both AMC and Smilegate that would help finance the company for a certain period of time and keep it afloat, thus preventing them from firing everyone. Thanks to poor business practices under Bruner, disappointing sales, and only TWD S1 and Minecraft being profitable for the company, Telltale was struggling financially and needed the investment to keep them going at the capacity they were at. I'm sure Telltale still has some money in it's coffers, but without the investment, they don't have enough to keep that many people employed for a long period of time.

  • ATTENTION/REMINDER: Voice-Actors, think of them as free-lancers, they don't work at a company, they work for the company for periods of time. For example if I voiced Clem for 4 episodes I would get $40,000 or whoever much they'd earn. They have not been fired, they never worked at Telltale to begin with. Otherwise VA's would just be sitting around doing nothing in the office, waiting for their character's game to release. So ZombieKenny and more, stop spamming 'I love Violet's voice please keep her'

  • edited September 2018

I’m just stating the obvious here but even if they were to use the same tool, models and V.A’s, the complete direction these episodes were headed with the original team would not be able to be replicated. They are going to have to make their own textures with the little they have from the leftover storyboards and concept art, so the original vision of TFS is always going to be felt by me in the back of my mind.

  • Evil Acces should not be allowed near The Walking Dead or any IP!
