  • Well to be honest I'll believe something like this when I see it. There would be little in it for any company to take over this product as quite honestly this series just isn't selling anylonger. If it were selling Telltale wouldn't have gone out of business. Companies seldom do these kinds of things anylonger over acts of good faith alone. And that would be all this would be would be an act of good faith. So until I see anything official I'll just continue to chalk all this gossip down as internet rumors (and we all know how accurate internet rumors often are).

  • No idea if they are like taking the same project and passing it on to someone else or remaking what was had, but yes Netflix still plans to make a Stranger Things game thats narrative driven.

Wait stranger things is getting saved? Source?

  • Worst part is Ive seen a few former Telltale employees say that Wolf S2 was going to be huge and the most ambitious thing yet. Really sucks knowing Wolf S2 was apparently going to be a very large game, sucks now we will never see it.

  • Did They say that on Twitter? If yes, then I think I've read the same.... I have a coping mechanism for that though - I just force myself to think that it was supposed to be as "innovative: and great as No man's sky, or Mass Effect 3 ending... You know, just so I can tell myself that it's better that I won't get a chance to play that :'(

  • Apparently the Wolf team was really proud and a few people on twitter mentioned how huge it was going to be. Seeing what Stranger Things was looking like with its whole hide and seek gameplay in first person really showed that Telltale was working on making their games feel more like games, so I can only imagine what new game elements Wolf would have had. My dream would have been us walking on a busy new york street in the winter. Stuff like that would be cool.

I wonder what the combat would be too. Inb4 it was a beat em up game lmao

No! It was supposed to be bad, poorly written, and Ichabod Crane was going to be the main playable character in this one - that's right!

  • Thing is that any company that takes on ep 3 & 4 will mostly definitely lose money, as I would assume 90% of people who would have ever played TFS have bought it already and future sale of this game would probably be very low anyway.

Why would any company do that? A moral righteousness for a bunch of people sad on the internet? (That said please somebody do exactly this)

  • Buying the IP could prove to be profitable iif they plan to use in the future, or if they plan to also acquire other IPs from Telltale´s Portfolio...

Maybe I'm just stupid but couldn't the buying company somehow gain Telltale's profits from the season's purchase if they agree to take over their product?

  • I know this is fake, but if you look at the lantern, it looks a lot like the new Telltale engine. Just wanted to remark on that. I'd imagine TWAU 2 looked excactly the same as TWAU 1 but the models were sharper and the game looked slightly wider, like TFS.

  • Its not actually fake its just what Telltale said for better PR because everyone said it looked like shit.

Who knows if this was the final design, but whatever it was, it was 100% some type of work in progress, not as fake as Telltale would want to admit.

  • Like I said right above, its not actually as fake as Telltale wants you to think, they said it was for better PR because everyone's reaction to it was "this looks like shit."

Truth is whatever it was, Telltale knew about it as it was made by the company Funlabs who Telltale was very very very close with. So no, it isnt "fake."

This is fake. Telltale confirmed that

  • Come on Poogs, they'd never make Bigby this fugly. They've said it's not their work and as far as I know, there's no proof of that being a false statement. You guys made drama out of nothing.

  • Well I mean we said the same about Kenny and Jane.

What Im saying here is it was made by Funlabs whos CEO's linkedin basically said Telltale runs them. We dont know what this image was, but whatever it was Telltale was aware of it. They easily could have had asked Funlabs for help with season 2 and this was a prototype they gave them that Telltale might have declinded in the end. But whatever it "was" it wasnt "fake" or some "fan made thing" like Telltale said, its pretty obvious whatever it was, Telltale did know internally. Just its bad PR to even say something like "Oh thats some protoype thing" because it still makes people go "if thats a prototype the final game better not look like this!" ect ect, its just easier to go "Not ours we dont know what it is."

  • Right, difference is Kenny and Jane showed up for five minutes. Bigby is a playable character.

Assumptions aren't really a solid ground for accusations. Assuming they weren't entirely honest, so what if Telltale knew about the picture? They just said it's not theirs and has nothing to do with Wolf 2. That should be enough evidence to stop caring about it. All funlabs did was help them remaster the Walking Dead. Why would they be presenting them prototypes or concept art of a game they have nothing to do with? For all we know, it really was some fan made thing and Telltale didn't know anything about it. There's literally nothing that links them to that picture.

Ah well not like it matters anyway since the game is cancelled.

And its not like companies dont hide shit and lie. It happens all the time. I mean lets not forget Telltale in an interview said "Dont expect more Wolf Among Us" and then 1 week later they announced Wolf Among Us 2. They're going to do and say whatever works best for them if they can, meaning if they can say "We dont know what that image is" they can and they will because it means they avoid people saying what they were working on looks bad.

The game play does give me Tomb Raider vibes, like the axe, shooting with an arrow, and climbing the bell tower. They will make Clem even more bad ass than it was before.

Buy the IP for a dime, finish the product which may yield a small profit (and profit is profit), and then use the IP to create games that will make you earn even more money

EDIT: Not to mention the positive PR and good will earned from the fanbase

  • they pretty much have the voices for episode 3 and 4 too just missing spme voices for 4

My main confusion is about the voice actors who were laid off. Will they be picked up by the new Devs along with the art designers? If so

  • The profit that this game will yield is extremely low because the way I see it is people who already bought TFS won't need to buy it again. Sooo.. oh yeah and then you have those annoying casuals who say 'choices don't matter blah blah Detroit ftw ayy Detroit' and those annoying youtubers 'they spent too much money on buying IP's and their games became low quality' bitch I love licensed IP's, after all I never would've had Borderlands or Wolf, and then there are the shitty reviewers '5/10, too slow paced, The Walking dead's final season is a dissapointment, do not buy it' screw you all! You're the reason why no-one takes interest in Telltale games! Your bad publicity effectively ran this company's sales into the ground!!

At university, I was talking to my friend about Telltale and he said 'oh yeah, I saw Pewds video on it, their games auren't really that good, although I liked s1' and then I tried to rub it off, but I was very annoyed at him and noticed just how influential youtubers and reviewers were.

Go on then and play your triple A games, hope you're proud of yourselves. You're more concerned about Call of Duty Black Ops 4 not having a campaign and you don't really give a shit about Telltale closing down. TFS is £20 and you also get the Collection for free, but instead you go and watch Pewdiepie play it and buy your Fortnite skins instead. Good day, casuals.

  • I didnt argue that the revenue to TFS will be small, but the sucessor company will be in an unique position to learn from Telltale´s mistakes and to put it own twist on the formula: Perhaps it all comes down to simply avoid saturating the market with your own products. One of the many reasons Telltale failed

And if what it takes, why not step up the game and produce a big bugget TWD with branching paths and et all?
