Which is the better season?
I thought this would be an interesting discussion, so here we are. I'll separate this into four categories: plot, characters, choices, and overall better season.
For my picks? Well...
Plot: Season one.
Characters: Seasons two and four.
Choices: Season one. (I haven't seen enough of TFS to dictate this.)
Overall better: Uh, I'm gonna have to go with the final season. It really is great so far.

All I can say is that I’m enjoying the final season more than season 2 and ANF and it might not be complete but if it is it will probably be the best one
I've always wanted a zombie apocalypse story set at a school, with kids as the main characters. Although I'd prefer it to be at the START of the apocalypse this is still a super cool season! Season 1 is getting a bit boring for me now, but then again I've seen it over and over since I was 9, that's like 7 years ago now
Plot: Season 1
Characters: Season 2
Choices: Season 2
Overall better: Season 2
Plot: The Final Season
Characters: The Final Season
Choices: The Final Season
Overall better: The Final Season
Why.. just why...
Plot: Season 4
Characters: Season 1
Choices: Season 1
Overall Better: Season 1 (This might change later based on other factors, but I don't think it's fair to rank Season 4 above just yet considering how it's not even finished yet.)
How exactly are each category being judged?
Season one was a brilliant episodic adventure that has this really nice atmosphere to it. It feels and plays out like a solid story with all the elements needed that play perfectly. Meanwhile TFS has kids fighting over Logs and Bricks and action scenes that resemble ANF. Nonetheless, I still love it, but S1 has set the bar so ridiculously high. The crawford mission, the tension on the RV with Lily interrogating Ben and Dougley, finding the Nuclear Bunker people, all these great moments, which are especially amazing when you play them for the first time. For TFS, I guess the James part is alright.
Season 2 is the best one
I dont know how to rank them for each category and shit so im just gonna rank em overall here from best to worst
1-Season 2
2-Season 1
3-The Final Season
4-A New Frontier
Plot: Season 2
Characters: Season 1
Choices: Season 1
Overall best: Season 1
I’d be willing to put down TFS for all of these but the fact that it’s not finished wouldn’t make it fair.
Right now, I think it's not totally fair to judge 2 completed games (that's right, just 2, because that's all there is) against a half-complete game. I feel that, to get a better comparison, we have to judge it by the individual episodes of those seasons that were released until the season is fully complete. So basically, to try and make things more fair, we should just compare it to the first two episodes of Seasons 1 and 2.
Premier Episode: Done Running > A New Day > All That Remains
Second Episode: A House Divided > Suffer The Children > Starved For Help
Plot (based on first 2 episodes): TFS > S2 > S1 (at this point, S1 didn't really have all that much direction, especially since SFH was a sort of side story with the St. John's. A great episode that impacted our relationships with other characters, yes, but not one that moved the plot along in any significant way until the end, hence my reasoning)
Characters: S1 > TFS > S2
Choices: S1 > S2 > TFS
Overall Better: S1 > S2 (again, don't want to throw in TFS here since it's not fully finished).
S2 Clementine probably was one of the best characters ever made imho. This is the main reason I ranked S2 above S1 (also because S2 Kenny is amazing).
my main problem with TFS is how hard it is. i've died more times in these past 2 eps than in the other seasons combined. esp with those choices that lead to an automatic death.
story is great tho. except the majority of chars are unbearable asses like in s2.
plot: season 1
characters: season 1 and 4
choices: season 1 {harder choices to make but season 4 had some good ones in the second episode}
Overall better : I cant pick between season 1 and season 4 [so far]
To me the only hard part was catching all the rabbits when you go hunting with Aasim in episode 1.
The gameplay parts were really easy, just stun a walker then kill the other one, you can basically stun lock walkers all the time and kill the other ones easily.
Also the last part of episode 2 was so easy, just stand in front of walkers and shoot them in their heads with Marlon bow, they're super slow anyway and in this game you can even "run".
Plot: Season 2
Characters: TFS (I practically care about every kid and fear for their lives) But to be honest I've enjoyed the cast for every season, although A new frontier was probably my least favorite with a bit more forgettable characters.
Choices: ANF. Look the level of choice this season was pretty impactful. There were some dumb mistakes, specifically regarding some lazy character exits from both flashbacks and determinant characters, but overall gotta give credit where its due.
Overall Better: TFS is so fuckin' good so far buuut its not finished so...Season 2
i went fishing instead. and that was easy. i honestly didn't know you could move during that last part of ep 2 and i still killed them all just standing there.
but i died a total of 4 times in these 2 eps. once clearing the traps or something in ep1 and i got surrounded by walkers. then i got shot when i rushed marlon. then in ep2 i got surrounded by walkers again after being kicked out of the school. then i got shot again when i killed lily.
i only died once in each of the past seasons. in s1 when i was going up the bell tower and a walker bit me, in s2 when that walker broke into the shed and i didn't find a weapon fast enough, and in ANF when i refused to open the door to the trailer and got shot.
the walker fights in TFS rly get me. and all those instant kill choices. they're so unexpected.
Plot: S1
Character: S2, S2, and S3
Choices: S4
Overall better: S2 and S4
I can already say that TFS will be my favorite if its ever finished. S4 Clem is just the best
IDK why Clem on S4 getting white than S3.
1.TFS
2.sea 1
3.Sea 2 and ANF (tie)
How does S2 have a better plot? You liked Amid The Ruins, where depressed Bonnie and depressed Mike were talking to Clem about philosphical shit, oh wait that was Jane, everyone actually acts so similarly, walking around a mueseum and damn it's such a terrible episode. Amid The Ruins has a plot that goes nowhere, as evidenced by what happens and how long it takes to get to that destination. The episode had so many narrative problems and plot holes and it could be over in 30 minutes, but the writers dragged it on because there was so little going on.
S1 Clem is still best Clem. ''My hat! You found it!''
Plot: The Final Season. I just really enjoy the story of Ericsons and how the characters are involved in it. It's not just running from plot-point to plot-point like ANF and S2 to an extent. I also love how it basically stays at Ericsons, too. It gives the place meaning, like the Motel in S1.
Choices: Season One. While it doesn't branch as much as later Telltale games, it still manages to give its choices a feel of heavy weight and meaning, which - ultimately - is more important than creating thousands of different outcomes that feel rather shallow.
Characters: Season One. It's just the best in terms of characters. Kenny, Lee, Lilly, Omid, Christa, Chuck, Carley, Ben. Just so many.
Overall Best: The Final Season. Even though it's not finished, I do believe it's overall better in many aspects. The thing that always bugged me in S1 was the lack of flow in dialogues. Many lines of dialogue felt ... i don't know ... encapsulated ... from the line of the character you're talking to. It really stood out for me after my most recent playthrough. It's hard to explain, but I think the dialogue or dialogue delivery through the game of S2 and especially S4 are much improved compared to S1.
S4 also is the biggest jump in game mechanics since S1.
Huh?
Yooo chill, the guy likes S2’s plot, no need to question it. If you don’t tone in down, I’ll have to send some fortnite dances to your ass. And trust me... the cringe will be real ?
Kk? ????????☹️??
plot season 1
characters season 1
choices season 1
overall best season 1
the final season started lacking in episode 2 i still don't see any sign of great story telling as season 1 showed us anyway i still don't see how my choices making any different. the greatest thing so far about tfs that may give him an edge over season 1 is the episodes length it still miss the puzzles of season 1 and the many dialogues options that you can have with the characters during hubs if i recall in season 1 you usually have 4 dialogue options every time you talk to the characters so you can ask so much and learn so much about them i don't want to just say hi to a character you know i want to get to know tis character and to do i need to ask the as much as its possible
My ranking:
1. Season 1 (Do I need to explain?)
2. Season 2 (Enjoyable but it still has flaws)
3. The Final Season (It could have been better than Season 2 but it's unfinished and God knows when its status is revealed)
4. A New Garbage (This game was never canon, Season 3 was cancelled just for this bullshit)
Just to put something out there real quick:
Plot: Season one in collective execution, but probably A New Frontier in basic outline.
Characters: Wanna say Season 2(in concept), but likely its Season 1(in execution).
Choices: Season one, obviously.
Overall better: Season 1.
No, anything but the fortnite dances.
Plot: Tie, between Season 1 and TFS, Both are centered on protection and sacrifice, and don't shy away from great writing. I like the mysterious air that TFS Done Running had.
Characters: Both Season 1 and TFS had amazing as well as do nothing characters but I give the nod to Season 1 in this aspect due to the majority of TFS being kids and seems kinda centered. Season 2 in third place, while many characters were useless we did have some very good ones like Pete, Walter and Carver despite not really playing any kind of major role in the long run as well as Luke (prior to Episode 3), Sarah and Nick all prior to the dreaded EPISODE 4/Determinant Statuses. Almost all of A New Frontiers characters struggle to even be bareable and the inner Garcia family just seems like a meandering toxic annoyance
Choices: Season 1 takes the lead for the choice factor with TFS not so far behind, next would be ANF, while in a contrived weird way there were consequences to your choices, last would be Season 2 as every choice you make has little to no effect on the game... well except Kenny, Jane etc but we all know how that turned out
Overall better: I'm torn, it's between the First and Last but with TFS' completion seemingly up on the air, I guess Season 1 takes it, then would be Season 2 which I strongly disliked when I first played it, but after re playing just felt disappointed with how it could have been so much better if the writing was more consistent and when replaying ANF, I gained a new appreciation for it. Last... well you know what's last by now...
1.Season 1
2.Season 4
3.Season 2
4.Season 3
