If AJ and Clem were both about to die and you could only save one, which would you save?

  • Tough question. I like more Clem than Aj, but Clem was taught to protect Aj no matter what, so I think if she had to decide to sacrifice yourself to save Aj, she would do it.

Not asking what Clem would do. I'm asking what YOU would do. Imagine they're both hanging off the edge of a cliff about to fall to their deaths and you as a third party can only save one, which do YOU save?

  • I'd save AJ. I actually picture my Clem dying to save someone tbh, I got Selfless Clem. o.o

  • sorry aj.. in this world yeet or be yeeted ;'(

  • I don’t even like AJ. He’s going on ice

  • I would want to save Clem. But she would force me to save AJ.

  • I've never liked the plot device AJ and don't even see him as fam, so clem , I'd save strangers before I save AJ

I would do nothing, because there won't be choose like this, because if there was TTG (or Clem) will decide for you to save Aj, like they did with Lee and Clem.

  • I like AJ, but I gotta go with Clem. AJ has been a good, compelling character thus far, and if ANF had utilized him better, my choice would probably be different.

  • Definitely Clem. AJ was just a plot device with no character in previous seasons. If you had asked anyone the same question in season 2 or A New Frontier, I'm sure not a single soul would've picked AJ. In this season, he's started to show some character, but it's nothing compared to what we've been through with Clem.

  • It depends. If AJ turns out to be a good person by the end of the season, the the right thing would be saving him. However, I have my doubts about him, and I wouldn't be surprised if Clem had to put him down eventually. If the choice game now, I would go with Clem with no hesitation.

    ...

  • Aj cause i don't want her to have a traumatic moment as she see AJ die.

  • She would kill me if i let AJ die.

  • I'd rather save Willy than save AJ.
    So, Clem.

  • AJ is #1 priority.

  • Not trying to offend you, but what was the point of making this thread? The majority of people are going to pick Clementine. Mainly because they know Clem better and Aj isn't exactly well liked in the fanbase.

  • Clem would want me to save AJ. I dare not defy Clem.

  • I agree, and I wanted to see if I was right. With 73 votes at the time of this comment, 75% would save Clem, which is about how I thought it would be.

  • You wanted to see? Pitting Clem against any character would have Clem winning the poll 100 percent of the time.

  • Clem. Absolutely Clem. I wouldn't even hesitate to save her over any other character, no matter who they are.

All you people saving Clem instead of AJ would make Lee so disappointed. Goes completely against what he did for Clem. Kenny, too.

  • Lee didn't die so we could give up our lives for that little shit. Her legacy will live on.

  • You tell yourself that. Lee and Kenny would be horrified seeing Clem place her own life over a little kid's.

  • From a slightly creepy, yet very logical point of view, women are way more important in an apocalypse than men. If you want to start repopulating the earth at some point that is.

That being said, I´m a let humanity die out kind of guy and I´d still choose Clem.

  • Based on previous TellTale statements about heartbreaking choices or some such, I suspect TellTale's intention was at some point, likely episode 4, to make players choose between sacrificing Clem to save AJ or saving Clem and letting AJ die. I expect that choice to fall pretty flat, and this thread and poll was a way to gauge what the potential player choice result of such a choice would be.

  • Lee didn't even willingly sacrifice himself for her. He got bit in a freak accident with a ninja ambush zombie.

  • Pragmatism and greater good. I like it. I think much the same way, what makes the most practical sense, not necessarily what's "morally" right or wrong.

  • aj but only because i don't like the thought of clem's story continuing and me not seeing it. also clem being left alone yet again would be sad.

  • Up to a point ofcourse. Crawford in Savannah was also run in a very pragmatic way.

He would have went after her, bite or not, instead of saving himself. Nothing we know of him indicates he would even consider otherwise.

  • I don't hate AJ but don't like him either. Clem needs an original ending rather than having the same fate as Lee.

If Telltale were smart they wouldn't make the sacrifice be a such simple binary. There's nothing heartbreaking about choosing Clem vs whoever.

In my eyes it would be Clementine vs the school's survival. or Clem vs the friend/romance option. Or both. That would be an actual test. It would test the cruelty of the player to see if they would sacrifice all of Violet/Louis/Tenn/Rosie/Ruby/Mitch's lives in order for Clem to survive. It'd be fun to see what it really means to have a "home" and how much you cherish "friendship/love" if it meant Clementine wouldn't be a part of it.

And AJ would only die in an instance where Clementine dies with him. I feel AJ dying alone would be terrible narration and would ruin the theme of the series. I doubt Clem would continue living on if AJ got killed.

  • I didn't think you really liked AJ, so I'm guessing this would be easy for you? :)

  • Clementine of course.

  • Clem, purely because I'm more emotionally attached to her.

It would be heartbreaking to see AJ die though, even so.
