I'd Bo Jackson stiff arm Jesus Christ our lord and Savior into a pit of the undead before i'd let Clem die. AJ grew on me and I like him a lot now but you could probably tell me I could save a actual real humans life and i'd most likely pick Clem instead.
I would say AJ but only because he is young, the youthfulness is important in the long run. Then again Clem is only, what, 11 years older than AJ? Plus AJ has a while to mature, whereas Clem is an adult now so she could bear children of her own (please don't interpret that the wrong way lol)

Kenny was written so bad in the end parts of season 2 that I don't think kenny of S1 would even recognise himself

Probably why I didn’t like AJ being put into Clem’s care, aside from it not being well written in season 2, just unsettled me on a personal level.
