CEO of Skybound says "team is currently not working on TFS"

  • Just be thankful that they picked up the game and isn't leaving us in the water..

  • It makes sense that they would wait until everyone’s onboard and settled. The fact that this is actually happening is honestly the real surprise

    They have to:

Get the previous employees back in.
Sort out all the legal shit.
Sort out all the publicity shit.
Sort out the next step in developing shit.

    One step at a time.

  • I will guess we will get more news on episode 3 sometimes next month

  • Well Im not sure what you were expecting, Telltale hasnt even been closed for a month, its going to take a while to get everything up and running especially considering they are working on getting as many old employees back.

  • Yeah, I didn't think they were at the moment. This doesn't mean that TFS is going to stay unfinished, but they just haven't started back up again. They still need to get ahold of all the required ex-employees, make those contracts, plan out what work is needed, get any VAs back into the studio, etc etc.

We'll know when they've begun their work. They'll tell us (or we'll find out through an employee's Twitter).

  • At least there waiting for the original team to be on bored i hope they get as many as possible

  • Not surprised, I just hope the game doesn't fall into developmental limbo where we're 5-12 months later with nothing.

I absolutely get these things take a large amount of time, but at the same time it is very easy to see this being a game that remains In developmental limbo for an undetermined amount if time.

  • He also went out on a limb and said that he expects episode 3 to release this year and that he will be sorely disappointed with himself if it isn't.

  • I dont mind waiting, as long as the game is saved I can wait for as much as it is needed.

  • I used to think we'd get episode three by late November but now I'm honestly expecting it to release around Christmas.

  • I wouldn't count on EP3 releasing this year since the team hasn't started development on it and it seems they are still trying to aquire the dev team.

  • This is not shocking in the slightest. If anything, I would be surprised if they had already restarted production. There's a bunch of legal shit that needs to be done, they need to get a good chunk of the team back, negotiate contracts with them, figure out how to get the game back up on stores, and a bunch of other stuff all before they can resume work.

  • We already know that episode 3 is nearly completed so once the legal stuff is sorted out I don't think it will take long to get it released.

  • wasnt one of their answers that EP3 was getting released this year thought? ((They also added that the PR team would probably kill them for saying that.))

  • According to Kent/Skybound EP3 is nearly complete and needs a bit more work meaning it could release late this year.

It really depends on when the team gets back to work and how much work is left to finish EP3.

  • I don't mind the wait knowing that my clemy will have her story continued and finished, think about it dude these forums will die once the game is done the more time we got left to spend with each other as a community is a gem we will miss in the future.

  • Amidst all the excitement we tend to underestimate the amount of time all this legal shit can take. Even I’ve been majorly optimistic and imagined it’d release about mid November. But its a process. Just wait it out.

  • I mean, that doesn't surprise me at all. Skybound just bought the rights like two weeks ago. They'll probably need quite a bit of time to get everything straightened out.

  • That is true, but this could easily become a project stuck in development limbo for months to an unspecified date.

It doesn't seem like Skybound has the majority of TFS crew back to resume development, and Skybound themselves are unsure when development will resume.

I completely get these things take time to hash out, but I don't see this getting back on track until middle of next year if then.
