that's been in the news a lot lately.

Speaking about a certain video game making some huge news lately. I just order a full refund from Cyberpunk 2077. I will have to wait a few months to a get it again. Probably god knows how long tbh. Still it is just sad what happened to this most anticipated game this year. Ugh

I'm sure this wasn't made directly towards a certain video game company that's been in the news a lot lately.

  • Netflix Canada now has the Spectacular Spider-Man series!! Hell yes!

(And it was added 4 days ago, according to info sites... So, for some reason they didn't think to add it to their "coming soon" tab in the last month? Thankfully it randomly showed up for me. I'm pretty sure this thing has been notoriously hard to find outside of expensive DVD and Blu-ray releases...)

  • Finished Gris after I tragically lost my save file due to my own incompetence.

I will repeat myself in saying that it is absolutely gorgeous to look at, the soundtrack is legitimately fantastic and the gameplay is pretty great too. It's all really well paced and nothing ever overstays its welcome as there's always something new to help keep things fresh, whether it be the music, the environment or the gameplay loop. It also has a pretty touching story to go along with it.

Overall I thought it was great and would highly recommend it. I feel like the soundtrack is going to be one I'll be going back and listening to every now and again.

  • I have Gris in my queue but haven't played it yet. I'll be careful to avoid that New Game button in the middle thanks to your experience!

The New Game button is actually on the right of the menu. I was just being a dumb and accidentally clicked it without reading properly. However to be fair to myself, this is the pause menu when you're in-game. The quit button is at the right.

However when it goes to the main menu, the exit button is at the top.

You can probably see how I'd have made my mistake.

  • At first, I was completely thrown off by this choice. No diss to Kevin Hart, he can be a funny guy and he’s done some good comedic roles, but as Roland, I wasn’t seeing it at all.

But here’s the thing that I remembered, the Roland in Borderlands 2 is really not the same Roland as Borderlands 1. In BL2, he acts and sounds like a grizzled, no nonsense, serious military commander, one who could inspire and rally the people around him and make some pretty good calls in stressful situations. The Roland in Borderlands 1 is...not that, not even close. If anything, the Roland in BL1 has an almost similar personality as Brick, and his lines read like his as well. I was listening to some of those lines, and don’t tell me you can’t hear someone like Kevin Hart saying them.

Now, that’s not to say I think this is a good choice. If anything, I would have gone with BL2’s characterization of Roland over BL1’s, but if this is the style and character they’re going for, I can see it.

Wow, must've just been a slow day. Anyway, I'm finished and don't know if I'm following up on the series. I'll give it an 7.5, leave this here for now, and call it.

    Yep, next-gen at its best.

  • Hi, welcome back! We're just hanging out waiting for the next Telltale game to show up, whenever that happens.

    hello

  • Sup, mate.

    Hey!

  • I tried to find it, even through a google search of the site. Nothing.
There was definitely a thread for Season one and Season two, but I can't find it. (maybe it was deleted alongside a user?)

    Hmm
Mods, can you help? I feel like one of you must have made a discussion thread on it, or might have it in your bookmarks. I somehow don't.

  • Long time, no see! Heard you were on @Graysonn 's stream the other day and wondered if you'd drop by for.

    Hey!

  • I honestly can't believe I'm doing this, but in an attempt to try and make some extra money on the side, I'm going to try my hand at...sports betting.

Now I know what you're thinking, trying to make money through gambling is a sure fire way to lose your money, and if you do it in excess, you're 100% right. But, do it responsibly and balanced, set your limits, and know when its best to cut your losses and give up, then it is possible. I'm not one for huge risks and will go for more safe bets than anything else, but if it gives me some extra money on the side, I'll see how it goes. One of the good things about living in New Jersey so I might as well try it out.

Tonight, I put some money down for the Brooklyn Nets and Golden State Warriors game. Need the Nets to win by 8 points or more.

  • Oh yeah, I think that's it. Somehow that wasn't bookmarked for me.

    @DabigRG go to Ingen's link.

  • Oh, you must've commented right as I was saying hi earlier. I didn't wanna risk reviving an old one and got distracted doing other things today.

Thank you very much! Same to you @AChicken

  • Gambling is never a good way to make extra cash, better not even start it, always starts by little then ends in a misery.

  • Not trying to make a lot of money, but if I've got a little, tiny extra cash sitting on the side that I'm not planning to do anything with, why not try to see if I can get a few extra bucks out of it. Plus, most of the stuff I'm going to do is a lot of safe, low risk bets, so there's less chance of gambling it away and losing too much. Obviously gambling addiction is a serious thing and it was always something in the back of my mind before doing this, but if you take the necessary steps and are conscientious of the bets you're making and not just pissing your money in the wind, not much harm can come from it. Same with drinking, too much in excess is bad, but the occasional drink here and there is pretty safe.

Two more days before Soul releases and Pixar (presumably) steals more of my tears to power the electricity in their offices.

I played and finished two short games. Later Alligator and Sea of Solitude. Each took about 2.5-3 hours to complete.

Just gonna spoiler tag this to save some space. There aren't any actual spoilers in this.

Later Alligator is fuckin' great. It's an adorable point and click adventure game in which you have to help Pat the Alligator find out who in his family wants him dead and why before the end of the day. In order to uncover the truth, you have to meet every member of Pat's family and play their minigames to find out what's going on. The characters are all incredibly charming and funny, with each of them having their own unique personality, quirks and animation. I ended up really liking this game a whole lot. Would very much recommend this.

Sea of Solitude is another game that I enjoyed but it does have quite a few problems. It's a third person platformer following Kay, as she explores a city submerged in water and meets a number of humans turned monsters in order to overcome her fears and issues. The game is really fantastic looking, the monsters and world all look really good, the human designs a little so. The world and characters are really interesting and I think the game overall does a good with exploring certain issues such as mental illness. The gameplay itself does have that eurojank feel to it. Platforming isn't incredibly satisfying and some of the controls, especially the boat needs work.

My biggest problem in the game is the voice acting. It's pretty bad lol, save for like one character who I thought sounded alright, which isn't great considering it's a very narrative heavy game. It's also pretty clear that English isn't the writers first language as the dialogue can be incredibly awkward and heavy handed at times. However, I did enjoy my experience with it overall and liked the message of the game. I also found myself relating heavily to some of the major moments which gives it an added plus in my book. There's a Director's Cut of the game coming to the Switch soon with overhauled writing and voice acting which, from the trailer alone, is miles better than the original game. I'd recommend getting this at a sale or waiting for the Switch version to release.

    TLDR;

Later Alligator. Very good. Is funny. Cute as heck. Charming characters. Would recommend.

Sea of Solitude. Pretty janky. Bad voice acting. Interesting narrative and approach to sensitive and relatable topics. Great visuals and character designs. Would recommend at sale or wait for Director's Cut which completely reworks the writing and voice acting.

  • Well, my hopes that the COVID test I took last week were a false positive were dashed. Results of my second test also came back positive, so it looks like I do actually have COVID. Still haven't had a single symptom, and I feel completely fine. Obviously I'm incredibly thankful for that, but if I'm being honest, that also kind of sucks. I'm stuck in my apartment, forced to take two weeks off work, can't go anywhere, can't go to the gym, everything has to be delivered (which costs a lot of money), and I'm feeling great. If anything, I'm feeling better than I usually do because I'm getting a good amount of sleep, instead of waking up at 4:00 in the morning for work. At least if I was sick I wouldn't want to go out anywhere anyway, but staying cooped up in quarantine when I feel totally healthy is kind of a nightmare. I'M BORED!!!

  • i’m honestly shook i didn’t think that people would still be using this

Here's a doodle page I did today. Still can't nail down that image of my avatar in my head. This probably won't mean heads or tails to anyone, but, eh, why not share it

I just can't figure out the right shape and proportion of what exactly I want! Dang it, amateur hands!

  • Very good. Put $50 down, ended up winning $45.
