over 9000!

Didero · January 2010

If you don't mind getting it second-hand, it's much cheaper on eBay.
I got my copy there for about €20, if I recall correctly. Maybe less.

Unless this thread is about showing the highest price you can find for the game, in which case feel free to ignore this post

Over $200.

Crap, shame I never played these games when I had the chance, guess now I have to wait for more special editions to come out(come on Lechucks Revenge or curse se)

I know it isn't a LucasArts game, but I've seen copies of the Neverhood go for over £400. Insane, really. There aren't that many copies floating around, I guess.

Mataku · January 2010

^ I was surprised to find out 'the neverhood' is so rare, because back when it came out, me and all my friends bought it, and it was a pretty big hit.

Jerec84 · January 2010

Thing is, you can get Curse of Monkey Island in a budget range for $10 Australian, so it's probably less elsewhere.

monkey_05_06 · January 2010

The thing that makes me laugh is that my mom actually picked this up off the bargain rack at Walmart for $10 about 6 or 7 years ago.

GMan,

I'm not sure if you are actually looking to buy Curse, or if you're merely curious to know how much people are trying to sell it for.

If the latter is true, then Amen, because Curse is an awesome game. However, if you really are looking to buy it, I found a NEW copy of Curse being sold at Overstock.com for $26.

God bless Google. I found it when I did a google shopping search for "Curse of Monkey Island" (add the quotes to search for the phrase, not the individual words)

http://www.google.com/products?q=%22curse+of+monkey+island%22&hl=en&aq=f

Oh, and make sure to use ScummVM when installing/running the game. Doing so not only guarantees compatibility, but also runs the game such that you don't need the CD's inserted.

read the scummvm wiki for instructions: http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/The_Curse_of_Monkey_Island

Holy crap, when did the Neverhood get so expensive? I bought a copy on eBay not five years ago for $25.

Hee Ho Ho · January 2010

that's rediculously expensive. understandable, but rediculously expensive.

glad i got my copy as a gift around 10 years ago.:)

jamiehavok · January 2010

it says on the ops link you can get curse used on that amazon page from 12 dollers. its only worth rediculous amounts for an original sealed copy maybe.

You don't necessarily have to wait for a special edition, you can find copies on ebay for $20-40.

coolguy721 · June 2010

glad i bought extra copies of "tales".

Rather Dashing · June 2010

$24.99. Shipping to me is $3.99.

That seems about right for a game about that age. And there are plenty of others around that price range. Also wow, epic necro.

The problem with that is though, that it only has a stock photo. I don't usually trust those. I want to see the quality of the product I'm buying.
But I've already got my copy of Curse off eBay, so I don't really care

99.5% positive feedback across 243 sales. Of these, only 1 person's review was negative and 1 was neutral. I dunno, seems safe enough to me.

Oh, and the page says "Satisfaction guaranteed" too. So yeah, people who don't have Curse yet, buy this!

I still don't like stock photos though. "Condition: Excellent" doesn't say too much, I'd rather see the state for myself.

Also, what does the seller mean with "Complete with artwork"? That the manual is included, or was there some sort of art book included?

Rather Dashing · June 2010

I don't know. People can contact sellers and ask, I think. I generally am willing to take a risk on packaging, honestly, but if it matters a lot to you then checking the description of the items and asking the seller directly aren't bad ways to go.

I bought The Neverhood at a computer fair in the UK for 50p knowing how rare it was and trying not to let the seller know! He had a stack of about 10 copies, just the disk in the jewel case with instructions. Looks like they were originally planned to be bundled with new PC systems or something. Perfect condition, only thing missing was the big box.

Anyway, I recently interviewed Doug TenNapel (the game's designer) on my site AMO and it is a shame that he worked so hard on the game and it was a relative flop. Having said that it managed to get two sequels on PS1 I think!

It says that $10 copy is ONLY the user journal book. It does not include the disc.
