Starting to get upset

So, twice now I've tried to load my game and had it erase all of my progress and start me over from the beginning.

The first time I was trying to load a second game but it kept loading the first save file instead and asking me if I wanted to rewind. I chose yes which was my fault but I don't get why it kept refusing to load the appropriate save.

I was annoyed but I wanted to play over anyway...so whatever.

The second time I clicked on my first save, it went to Episode 4 where I had left off in the middle, I clicked play...and it loads from the very beginning of Episode 1! With no prompt for if I wanted to rewind! All of my progress lost for the second time!

What gives??

EDIT** Sorry if this is in the wrong spot, when I clicked on forum it kept putting me directly into this one so I didn't know there were others. Also I have the game on my Xbox.

I had that problem and I deleted the entire Telltale games folder from within my documents. It will recreate the folder the first time the game autosaves. After doing this I was able to complete episodes 1-4 without any more save issues.

Ah, crap I didn't notice you said xbox.

I play on PC so obviously what I said probably will not help you.

Any when I replied to this thread it wasn't from within the xbox support forums, it was in the General Discussion of The Walking Dead. It got moved to here.

We are working on a patch, and I promise we are trying to get it out as soon as possible.

yeah, sorry about that. When I went to the homepage and clicked forums it sent me directly to general discussion so I didn't know there were other forums to post in until after I created a thread.

I hope the patch comes out soon.

I deleted my save file and started over...got to the end of Episode 1 but now when I try to start Episode 2 it just loads back to the end of Episode 1 over and over.

    EDIT**
Ok so, I managed to get it to start Episode 2 by exiting properly all the way out to my dashboard and then restarting the game.

I have been having the exact same problems with this game. My first play through would only allow me to access save 2 file. I tried the work around, but had to rewind chapter 4 because I was at the end. I did the rewind to what appeared to be the last possible moment in chapter 4 before then end, and it started me T the beginning.... I played through a second time and was able to get to the middle of chapter 3 and when I went to resume my game, it randomly started me at the beginning!

I am way past starting to get upset, and am in a full on rage! I have been a long time fan of The walking dead series, and began early with the comic. I will always be a walking dead fan, but I'm afraid that I can not say the same for telltale games... This needs to be fixed ASAP!
    Thanks a bunch~

It seems to be a glitch that's triggered by exiting your game any other way then by going to the main menu and then to Exit Game. So...don't exit using your dashboard button or by simply turning off the console. So just avoid exiting the game any other ways and it shouldn't cause your game to load back at the beginning and overwriting your save.

Also if you have problems where it won't go to the next episode like I did, starting at the last checkpoint of the previous episode over and over, exit the game properly all the way back to your dash and then restart the game. It should fix the issue.

Also the ability to access only one save file is a glitch with Episode 4...*shrugs*

I heard about exiting incorrectly and it ruining the saves... I have made sure to always exit to the main menu, and then exit the game. I also only exited the game after I saw the save complete. I did everything right and still got screwed.

I've encountered this as well. I was trying to resume my Episode 3 save and it started me at Episode 1 again, even though I exited properly, so I paused, went to main menu, exited out to my dashboard then restarted. When I loaded the game it said Episode 1 but when I clicked to play Episode 3 it started just fine. I lost all of my progress through Episode 3 but none of my progress through the previous Episodes.
