  • Can't really disagree with you: my biggest complaint is that from the looks of it, the same team is working on TWAU and TWD, which to me is just a bad idea, since splitting resources between the two just results in either one or both sides being frustrated and left hanging for releases.

I'd hope that isn't the case though.

  • So, that would mean that the voicing is complete if it's true.

I was lurking on Neogaf, and on the Wolf Among Us thread, a user said Adam Harrington (Bigby's VA) posted this on his Facebook "last night."

  • I'm sure the official line is something along the lines of "when it's done." That's not sketchy -- It's honest.

I'd rather play a bug-free polished game than something that was rushed to meet some unofficial (and totally arbitrary) release date. If people are upset at vague release dates, imagine the response if they posted something concrete and missed it. It's just not worth it.

It will be here soon enough, and when it does, it's going to be great.

  • You guys have a lot of hope, it's going be sad to watch it crushed waiting for the game.

  • Okay..

So TTG would not be able to set a date, respect the deadline and deliver a decent game like the vast majority of game developpers do?

Sorry but I don't buy that.

People are paying for this game, I do believe they deserve to have a release date IMO.

Well, it's estimated that TWD S2 will come out before TWAU E2. So...there's that.

  • It's the 30th of November guys, your hopes are now crushed!

  • this december is gonna be awesome!!

  • hmmm thats interesting, honestly while I just preorder TWD S2 I am way more excited for TWAU ep 2 sooo i kinda hope TWAU Ep2 comes before XD

    Such want
    wow

  • It is disappointing, but it at least confirms that they intend to release ep2 this December as well.

Maybe I should change the thread title accordingly?

  • It looks like TWD E1 is coming before TWAU E2: J.J. Stauffer on twitter "Would also estimate that #TheWalkingDead S2 premiere could come before Wolf returns... We'll have a very busy December!" It looks like the biggest gap between two episodes ever.

  • Well... It will repay us for the shitty November.

  • Telltale, you better release TWD S2 premiere only if you have done enough work in advance on TWD s2 episode 2 so it would be released without too much delay after the first episode = don't do what you just did with TWAU.

I suppose we can assume that "Periodically" for The Wolf Among Us means "Every Two Months" now.
But I believe that "when it's done" is the really correct answer and that there's no longer any "regular schedule" from TT.

It's great to have refined and polished products, and it's one of the most important things TT learned through its errors, and I don't really want they change their minds about.
But now they have to improve the schedule, as a 2 months waiting is getting a little bit too stretched... it's a continuos waiting and not an experience...

They said that TWD was going to be released before christmas. And based on past experience with Telltale's announcements,it usually means like one or three days before christmas. So it would mean that we would have TWAU episode 2 in January 2014 (since they obviously won't release both games around the same time). And then it would also mean that a new wolf episode would be released once every 2 or 3 months which is way too much in my opinion. But I hope I'm wrong.

  • Yes,and 2 months is way too long for a game in which you collect a lot of clues and make different choices because it's hard to remember every single choice you've made. The best thing Telltale could do is to improve their release schedule from now on.

    oO

I damn hope that the latest tweet means that TWD S2 (possibly) coming first is because it turned out that it will be ready sooner than expected, and not because TWAU will be even more delayed as late as January !!!

  • I look at the inscription "coming soon" for a month already. This shit is killing me.

  • If Episode 2 releases in January, it will mean a 12 week gap between episodes at the earliest.

I don't think that's the case at all, especially in light of us being told that December is a 'big month' for them. But if it were true, it would be time for Telltale to sit down and have a long, hard look at their approach to releasing these episodes. A gap that big is going to produce a lot of understandable frustration and anger at the perceived delay, especially when Telltale is so relentlessly quiet about even hinting at a prospective release date for TWAU Episode 2.

In such circumstances, if they were really that far behind in getting Episode 2 out the door, they would have been wiser to postpone the release of Episode 1 until enough work was done that a reasonable gap between episodes could be expected. When your customer base has the general understanding of 6-8 weeks and you (without warning or explanation) bump that up by 4 weeks or so, you have failed badly at customer relations.

and actually they dont polish the game, they are waiting while the rest of lazy asses (Microsoft and Sony) will give them positive feedback about upcoming episode. so it is nothing to be proud of.

  • Ya I know I haven't been around as long as the Sam and Max people, but from a TWD member standpoint I don't hold my breath for TTG's scheduled release dates. So not truly surprised that it didn't come out this month.

  • If they did follow the trend of most developing houses, they would have a far-off release date they know they could meet and just sit on the finished product for ages.

  • Yes,it's true that they are known for their delays but given the fact that TWD season 1 encountered a huge success I had hoped that it would enable them to improve their release schedule and to hire more people.

  • Everything in this damn world involve deadlines.

If only it was just about the absence of release date, they are not even able to respect a one month area of prediction. That's bad.

  • I love TWD, but what I really fear is that TWAU is going to end up keep being put on the back burner because of the fact that TWD is their cash cow, and has a bigger name behind it (even though TWAU seems to not be doing too bad itself).

I think they kinda bit off a little more than they could chew. They really should have focused on one project at a time instead of trying to take on multiple projects at once. And I heard (though I am not sure where or how reliable the source is) that they are now also in the process of working on a Game of Thrones game. I agree on what someone else had stated earlier, I really hope that both games don't end up suffering because of the fact they are trying to take on so many games at once.

  • one more week without episode 2 huh?

    • this is UNACCEPTABLE

  • Considering all the rumors flying that they are negotiating Game of Thrones as well and the director wants to take on a star wars project. Back burner indeed. =(

  • With all due respect, you don't know what the problem is/problems are, whether they were foreseeable or avoidable they were. Neither do I. None of us do. One thing we can be sure of is this hasn't been good for them publicly or financially (having your employees work on a project longer with no further charge to the customer is going to hurt the coffers) and they will be looking at how they can avoid this happening again. Things will get better. They have a history of delivering everything they announce (with the exception of King's Quest, which was pulled off them for reasons unknown).

  • There are tricks to remember what you chose though. Record what you play, writing down how you played except for Toad's apartment which you will remember anyway, or choosing a certain method of play.
