I am SO UPSET. Having the SAME problem. How can this still be going on! I played all the way thru S1 & 400 Days with no problems on 2 separate slots, 3rd slot empty. I can't believe this. I'm so irate. So anyway, I started a new game on the 3rd slot today. Played all the way thru with no issues then got this stupid error halfway thru E5. So I looked it up & found this forum. I was mad but I told myself, hey at least I have my 2 saved games (one with my genuine answers & one with the opposite) that haven't been effected & I can play S2 on those. So I deleted everything I did today in slot 3 since it's now useless. But then I realized, 400 Days was in July. I don't remember anything that happened in that game. (I have a health condition that effects my memory) I wanted it fresh in mind so I know what characters I had going into S2. I figured I'd just replay that last part. So I rewound it to do 400 Days again on slot 1. Got all the way thru every person, last one being Russell then halfway thru him when they're at the gas station I get this stupid error!!!! Now the saved game on slot 1 is basically lost since I can't finish it I won't be able to play S2 on it either. Slot 2 which is all the answers & decisions opposite of my real ones is the only one now uncorrupted & ready for S2. And reading everything apparently there's nothing I can do??? One person said to create a new profile & start over from scratch & you won't get the error. I REEEEEALLY don't wanna do that but if it works I will. Has anyone else tried this? What seriously sucks about that is it's an offline account. I'm not paying for TWO xbox live accounts for just me. That's ridiculous. And everything I've built up on my current account? I'm not deleting it all & starting over on this new one. No one should ever have to do that to play a game. Now unlike many other ppl on here, I don't wanna give up. Yes I'm pissed this hasn't been resolved & it's been a YEAR but I truly LOVE this series & I still plan on buying S2. Idk what to do. Someone, ANYONE please help. People were saying they think this started or at least got worse when 400 Days came out, like it had a bug or something, think S2E1 might include a patch to correct it? Has a patch been released that I missed in the last year? Also, if I buy S1 on hard copy, will that work? Is 400 Days on hard copy? I'll take any working solution really. Suggestions, anything. Please just someone respond. I'm not a HUGE gamer so this game is like everything to me (game wise) & I'm a dearly obsessed devoted Walking Dead fan so I'm never giving up on this series. HELP!
As far as I know, no patch has been made this for this. But like you I am hoping season 2 will fix things. Another person suggested simply making another x box profile, not necessarily a new account, but I haven't tried it.

Come on Telltale. I've had this problem since episode 5 came out and it's still not been fixed. Now season 2 is on it's way and I won't be buying it because I don't want to be wasting my money on a broken game.
I have to add to these simply because the number is so great. But here i am 1 day away from the game of the year addition release and what feels like a febuary release date for the 2nd season , and i am unable to complete the 5th episode due to a glitch in the download. It really bugs me this glitch (bad pun). I had 3 play-throughs all done and sorted. I wanted to replay one of them and got the message in the middle of episode 3 when I was going into the Station with Clementine. I then followed this thread's general advice like: Replaying the entire save slot, copying the save slot into a free one and deleting the old one.but nothing seems to work. So far starting a game on another profile has been working fine for me. I have only finished episodes 1-3, and still have 4-400 Days, but I feel positive this will work. Just in case I am keeping my save file on my other profile handy.
I agree with this petion and feel that it should be signed by anyone that reads these threads. This issue is currently unable to be resolved. deleting all save files from game and xbox system then playing through a new save file after downloading twd will not work. The glitch will still appear at the end of episode 5 and in the bonnie episode of 400 days. this glitch began shortly after the release of the twd hard disk. And for those of us who purchased the xbox arcade version are now stuck to either spend more $ for the disk or just stop playing the game due to the fact that we have played it over 100 times only to see some stupid save data glitch pop up. Telltale has mad a great game [ TWD ] because of someone's greater dream [ Robert Kirkman ] , but fail miserably at customer service. This is truly hard to swallow a real kick to the groin and its not just glitch issues never being resolved. Telltale has been leaving customers in the dark since I have been playing TWD the very first day the demo was available to the months it took for them to release the 2nd episode. These very same issues are relevant for other games telltale games create offer the customer something and don't deliver then don't reply with any helpful advise. We are still currently looking into the issue, and believe this issue is related to total save space capacity, so our current recommendation remains the same. To only use 2 save slots to play through the series. Avoiding the 3rd save slot has been reported to avoid encountering this issue. If you have 3 full save slots, please try transferring them to a flash drive or other storage device, and then remove all Walking Dead save data from your hard drive and start a fresh playthough in only 1 slot. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes people as we look further into the root cause of this issue.

BLA BLA BLA this happens to me in my second and my third save slot so im stuck with only one full playthrough with only one way to enjoy the story arch sure I can erase that one and be left with a new string of choices that I would make soley to see them play out but now I have to switch out a flash drive or some other storage device which cost more money kudos for stimulating the economy with your lack of customer service ha pfft.. but complain and whine is all we can do now if we want to continue pressing the issue that this sucks and should be fixed. Great Game by the way just wish It could be played tailored by the choices I make you know what I mean
I'd like to point out here that I have played through all 5 episodes in season one, and only today downloaded the 400 days episode, I had two save games, one I had completed though, and a second of which a friend started.
I started 400 days today and completed up through to the Bonnie character (Still two remaining characters to play), I finished the character, it saved and I turned off my xbox to complete later (Not realizing this was a known issue, I have only just discovered this). I loaded up The Walking dead and now all of my saves are gone, vanished. It is asking for me to start a brand new story - now I appreciate that this is a known issue, but I do not believe I should have to start a new play through to 'resolve' this issue, I do not want to find upon completing all 5 episodes again I run into the same issue when starting 400 days.
For now I think I will leave the game as is and find others to play (Until a fix is found) - this is a fantastic game, and I have thoroughly enjoyed it - however losing entire saves is not conducive to keeping past and new players.

This has started to happen to my game a few days ago while I just about to start chapter 7 in episode 5, then I could never play that saved game again because the screen was always black. Now the same problem is happening to all my episodes including 400 days. . . :c
Do you have 3 save slots used or only 1? It may be an issue with save space as I stated above. My recommendation is to delete another slot that is not in use, and try again.

For me this problem started on my 3rd playthrough on episode 5. When 400 days came out I managed to play it and finish it without a problem but when I tried playing it again this glitch happened again, so I decided to delete all the episodes and saves from my hard drive and left it for a few months. I re downloaded episode 1 again and started it on save slot 1 but I can't beat it without getting "storage device lost".
I hope this problem is fixed soon because I really want to play season 2.
How much free space do you have left on your storage device? This may be caused by your device being full, or it may be caused by the save space issue I stated earlier. I apologize for any inconvenience caused by this as we look further into the root cause of the issue.

Just happened to me today. My storage device is the hard disk and there's about 190 Gb free on it.
Problem appeared for the first time at episode 5, playing on the 3rd slot (other 2 slots have full games with DLC completed on it).
Happened first right when opening the escalator's doors (after the decision about the arm). When I tried to load the save, it worked and I could go on.
Just happened a second time in the house as we were rushing to the attic, but this time I have a black screen everytime I reload, not even a message, just a black screen. The xbox doesn't freeze, still able to go back to home menu without having to shut it off, it's just the game that freezes.
My first two saves were satisfying, I just wanted to do a 100% supporting Kenny playthrough. So I won't delete anything and no way I'm playing from the beginning once again, I will stick with my two saves and use them for season 2.
Just wanted to let you know how exactly it happened to me if that can help. Sill hope you'll find a better fix than deleting everything so I could use this save for season 2.
First off, thank you for the information. I will pass it along to the team as we look into the root cause of this issue. Your information will be put to good use, I apologize for the inconvenience, and hope that we will be able to resolve this issue in the near future for all users.

I've been having this exact same issue, too, for a while now. For me, the first time it happened was right as everyone was going into the armory in episode 4. Since everything I tried didn't work, I decided to just skip to episode 5 since I was so close to the end anyways (thankfully the random choices made were all ones I was going to make anyways).
Everything was fine, until the part where Lee is about to cross the sign over to The Marsh House. Then, bam, it happened again.
I have a launch day 360 slim and my harddrive has about 50GB free. The game is the third save slot, and the other two saves are 100% beaten runs (including 400 Days). If it helps find the root cause of this, I did most of the more unpopular choices on purpose to see what would happen (Saving Doug, helping Kenny in the meat locker, that sort of stuff). I'm not really super upset, it just seems weird that I have zero issues the first two runs, but constant glitches on the third. I also remember trying to use the third slot to show the game off to my family, and it stuttered through Clem's house before crashing again and again (it didn't happen again after a recent patch though).
I hope this is fixed soon. I adore this series and I wanna see as much as I can.

This is almost exactly the same as what happened to me. 3rd playthrough, third save slot, except the first occurrence happened when returning the manor after escaping the hospital in Episode 5, when Kenny and Ben are arguing. I managed to get it to the same point as you, where it would now consistently crash when escaping to the attic.
I have not tried a fresh playthrough though, as I didn't feel like starting a 4th time when I was so close to completing my third playthrough.
Originally, I had an Xbox 360 Pro console with a 120 GB HDD and lots of free space (50% of the drive). Now I have an Xbox 360 E console with 250 GB HDD, and about a gig and a half free. I did try to continue my game from the same spot with my no console, but no luck and the error occurs as expected.

I apologize for the inconvenience. At this time, the only way to stop the storage device error is to delete your save data. Below are a couple different ways to do this:
1) Delete the save data in save slots 2 & 3 from within The Walking Dead. (You may wish to back-up the data)
2) If deleting the save data in the save slots does not resolve the issue, you will want to delete the save data from your storage device. (Go to your Settings on the dashboard, and click on Storage, then choose your storage device that you are saving on, select “games and apps”, then select “The Walking Dead.” In The Walking Dead scroll down and delete the Save Data. You may want to back-up this data)

Still not been fixed then this just happened to me for the first time after having two save slots where i have completed all season 1, 400 days and both ep of 2.The only way is to fix it is to delete save slot ? this happened last night on my games save slot 2 after nearly reaching ep 5 again and i have got to start again ?.Don't understand why it should suddenly happen on third playthrough.I have no problems with anything else on my 360 only this and only all of a sudden now although i notice from first post this issue has been around ages.
Just tried deleting save slot 2 and started again and has just done it to me again on ep 1.This kept happening on ep 4 last night so now when i play it keeps corrupting my save file regardless of ep but only season 1.I have a 360 slim with about 9gb free space, cleared cache before i started again and still doing it don't think it is the console though this is the first corrupt save file issue i have ever had with it after three years.Any ideas ?, if deleting save and starting again doesn't work despite the fact i have two save slots that have no issues.
Still doesn't work that is after deleting slot 2 from in game and from dash plus it doesn't crash in the same place in ep 1 everytime. From previous post at top of page this only seems to become an issue on your final save slot regardless off slot even tried deleting and re-installing all episodes given how long that took.

Thanks Mike.Currently playing it again after deleting slot 2 again last night because i couldn't get past ep 1.It wasn't reporting this error in the same place everytime on ep 1 but was before on ep 4 (when you are in crawford).Lol touch wood though made it to ep 2 so far on this playthrough.
Can you please clarify if this is your first playthrough, or if this is another playthrough on a new save slot?

We are still currently looking into the issue, and believe this issue is related to total save space capacity, so our current recommendation remains the same. To only use 2 save slots to play through the series. Avoiding the 3rd save slot has been reported to avoid encountering this issue. If you have 3 full save slots, please try transferring them to a flash drive or other storage device, and then remove all Walking Dead save data from your hard drive and start a fresh playthough in only 1 slot. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes people as we look further into the root cause of this issue.
It only happened me when i was using my third save slot so it must be something to do with it.
I am using all 3 slots.
If all 3 of your slots are full, please try transferring them to a flash drive or other storage device, and then remove all Walking Dead save data from your hard drive and start a fresh playthough in only 1 slot. We are still currently looking into the root cause of the issue, and I apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Thank you for the extra information, and I apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you for the feedback, I will make sure to pass it along to the team. I apologize for any difficulties this has caused you.
All my files are corrupted because of this issue. I had no problems at all.. Whats going on?
I did #2 and it worked. Thank you
You're welcome, enjoy the game!
I apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for the extra information, we are still looking into a fix for this particular issue.
Ive just started experiancing this issue too, and no fixes are working!
Please keep working on this telltale!!
Same problem here. Damn, I played 3 episodes yesterday, everything is gone!
Can you please clarify if this is your first playthrough, or if this is another playthrough on a new save slot?
