It still seems more plausible that they just reused the gun model, considering Season 1 was ripe with even character's faces being reused (Lilly and Shel, Duck and Fivel).

It was like 4 stories up, and if you let Lee drop off of the sign (about the same height as the room Kenny was in, as far as I can tell) without properly lowering him, he dies, and while being chased by hundreds of walkers in the pitch black, I doubt Ken would lower himself.
