Awww crappity-crap. I did the Talking to Strong Sad about the Bats twice, and got a point. Then I talked to Strong Sad about the Fun Machine (earlier post) and didn't get any. Quick, fast, and in a hurry I fired up another game to see if it was one or the other, and I didn't get anything for talking to Strong Sad about the Fun Machine.

Something fishy's going on here. We're getting points for doing different things. Somebody else clarify on this one, maybe its miscommunication on our part, or Telltale is craftily making us frustrated by trying to help each other to no avail.

I agree, it's getting really hard to run a list like this when it's impossible to get anyone to agree on what works, what doesn't, and what's a glitch.

Okay, what I figured out is that you are looking for conversations that include the word
    "love".

If anything, I'd look into that.
It makes sense, and It happens to happen in the 3-4 confirmed cases that we got so far. This guy happened to figure out somewhat exactly what we're looking for. I'd bet that if we were to look farther into what cases we have outlined so far, we'd crack what exactly constitutes an "affection" and what doesn't, and I'd betcha between those of us on here and people from outside could outline all 10 before Telltale tells us outright.

BotB pissed me off, so I'm playing some Zelda.
    Resuming tomorrow......

That would make sense. It would explain why you get points for
having Marzipan sign glossies for Coach Z and Strong Bad.
(You don't get the point for giving the glossy to Coach Z like people are assuming.)

Edit: You also don't get a point from looking at the bleached pond.

Yes you do, I checked and you do.

Dude, seriously? I'm actually playing Twilight Princess as I type this since I just got past where I was suck for ages which is another reason I haven't managed to properly look into what does and doesn't constitute an Affection Expression.

Yeah, the old N64 has had Ocarina of Time in it for like 3 months, yesterday I just decided to turn it on. Kinda loses all its fun when you know what to do...

Ironic that we're hustling around the forums trying to figure out what to do in BotB?
  • edited October 2008
Ya, but since we're on the topic of LoZ i can't seem to get past the hidden forest temple on OoT any ideas?
  • edited October 2008
PM'd, don't wanna saturate a Strong Bad Forum with Zelda stuff.
  • edited October 2008
Here's what I've been able to confirm (with a quick runthrough):
    1.
Talk to Strong Sad about the bats twice
    2.
Give the fun machine to Bubs
    3.
Talk to Coach Z about Marzipan twice
    4.
Have Marzipan sign a glossy for Strong Bad
    5.
Have Marzipan sign a glossy for Coach Z
    6.
Have Coach Z recite poetry for Marzipan
    7.
Talk to Limozeen about the Two-O-Duo
    8.
Talk to the Blubbo's whale twice at the PomStar concert
    9.
Talk to Coach Z after the Two-O-Duo break up
  • edited October 2008
I think the last one might be gotten by talking to one of the Cool Tapes band members after you sabotage them but before the DOI performance. (possibly by asking Limozeen about them after they start sucking as well)
  • edited October 2008
I think after you sabotage Cool Tapes, its a direct cutscene, I'm checking it out, I have a save game right about at that point

Edit: Yep, although I did sabotage them last.
  • edited October 2008
No luck on the Cool Tapes breakup - either talking to the band, the spectators, Limozeen, Marzipan elsewhere...

I thought I had it, though. During the DOI concert, after the speaker falls and the KoT starts wailing on it trying to get the lobster, Strong Bad says "You'll LOVE my stage prop" and right as he said it my rank went up. However, in Extended Play (since you can't check your stats during the concert) I was still missing one Expression of Affection.

In fact, it's the ONLY thing I'm missing. I've got all the Collectibles, Abuse, Musical Moments, and all but one of the Expressions of Affection.
  • edited October 2008
I think we're all missing #10, lets wait for the Awesomeness list.
  • edited November 2008
It may end up that way, but I'm going to keep looking.

Now, I may have missed something, but I'm pretty sure it isn't in Extended Play, and unless there's some specific criteria during the concert (like, "X and Y bands are sabotaged but Z band is still together, then talk to person G") I don't think it's during the Battle of the Bands Segment. I felt pretty confident that I'd talked to pretty much everyone and used pretty much everything on everything else during the opening act, so my suspicion is that it's during the Battle organization stage of the game.

I am starting to wonder if there is a higher reason for nobody finding the point yet... Like yet another bug?

(Even I have yet to find all 10 in the game itself, and trust me, I find everything. I am the "play it again" dude after all ;) )

I've checked everything in the game, tried every possible inventory combination, went file digging, heard every possible dialog option in the game, and still no 10th point... But, I think I have found the line in the files, and guess what? Its not used in the game.

Actually, I was thinking the same thing. I'm really surprised that you don't gain any affection points from the "Food-Related Love" song considering how many times love is mentioned.
  • edited November 2008
I have a considerable Play it again list of about 25 items all over the game, and about 12 alternate ways to play the game (the order you solve some puzzles yields different dialog and scenes) but still no 10th affection point...

    Oooh...do tell!
  • edited November 2008
I would rather wait and confirm that this is a bug before I post the line... It's still possible that I have completely missed something, and that this particular line was deleted on purpose. (I.E. the powers that be may not want it posted publicly)

EDIT: Yes It is a deleted line, but not the awesomeness point we are looking for, I just got a tip from Jake and I am going to confirm it... If it checks out ill post it here (along with whatever goodie comes along with 100% :p)

I applaud your discretion in these matters.

Also, I applaud insider sources. I was not really looking forward to listening to all 2074 lines of recorded dialogue. (...even though it's already turning out to be quite entertaining.)

Are you certain? I didn't get a point for looking at the bleached pond. A pretty funny cutscene, yes, but not an Affection Expression point.
  • edited November 2008
I think I've got one. I did this and when I checked a had a point, but I may have gotten it from something else. Using the oddition form on strong bad. Like I said this may not work but I had a point after I done this so I hope someone does this and it works.:) I'll keep checking though.
  • edited November 2008
Also worth trying - have Marzipan sign a glossy for someone else and give it to Coach Z. Going to check that out, now.

Edit: Nope. Apparently "True Lorv" doesn't count as "true love".

If you only had one point, then you got it automatically after giving the Funmachine to Bubs. I'll give it a try anyway.
  • edited November 2008
Wait a minute... I for certain got 2 points not on his list.
doing the stealing stuff from my own dang store first in the framing coach Z part and making Coach Z throwing the rock in Marzipans house last.[/spoile] How could this be.

    Ok.. confirmed

For expression point #10.. (don't shoot the messenger, I thought this was stupid as well)
After you have sabotaged Pom Star and Two-o-duo, and given both the whale and lake abuse pictures to marzipan... Turn up your hint level to "High" (in options) and click randomly around the Two-o-duo stage until Strong bad mutters the hint "The teen girl squad would love this..."

Frankly, it's kinda disappointing, there was a line in the finale that would have been perfect for #10... (If you try to put the butter in the fog machine while the sand bag is still on it)

Also, There apparently a bug the Hot Babelien Odyssey game...
after completeing all other awesomeness tasks, Strong bad will be "Too awesome to die" and get infinite lives! (Although, this does take all the challenge out of it.)

P.S. the Coach Z "loves me like a brother..." Line can be hard at the Pom Star stage *OR* during extended play... if you miss it during the concert (or if you sabotage Two-o-duo last) you can hear it in extended play. Actually, its funnier in Extended play because of Bub's comment after it.

Verrrry crafty. It's perfectly designed so that people who are already "good" at the game are very unlikely to ever find it.

    Thanks, DZ!

well than what about the 2 ive found they both worked and altogether that's 12There's something wrong hee.
  • edited November 2008
There are only 10... As I have stated above, some can be heard at multiple points, but they only count the first time you hear them.
  • edited November 2008
That's all she wrote. We got to 100% before Telltale released the guide with, what, 2 days to spare?

    Impossibly Rocked Out indeed.

    Oh yeah:

I wasn't invincible, still had some challenge to it. Even tried after got over 50k, still can die.

What I'm saying is that I have found 2 not on the list. Not that Ive found 2 things heard twice. Which makes 12. I know that there are only 10 but I found 2 more. As stated abvove in one of my posts.

When you say you've found two not on the list - do they actually increment a point on the score sheet, or are they just mentions of the word "love"? Does your score sheet read 12/10?

Yep, we hit it on the head. And why was it so confusing? Because there were things unlockable in both regular and extended play.

    We rock.

Edit: Hey check it out! This is the longest thread in the "Strong Bad Hints" section. I wonder how much harder stuff is going to be to find in Dangeresqe 3.....
  • edited November 2008
Judging by the current trend I'd say somewhere between 6 and 8 pages to cover it all.
  • edited November 2008
Think we'll hit double digits for EP5?

Maybe.... It depends on what you mean by Double Digits.
  • edited November 2008

  • edited November 2008
