Is there alternate dialog that is less vulger and violent?
I watched the first episode to check out the new game 'The Wolf Among Us' and thought is was very intense and pretty heavy, though to be honest the 'vulgarity' and the 'decapitation' thing was a gross out. The cursing all the time was just a turn off. Interesting game but if there were alternate dialog, and it would be nice to have some scenes (like the crime scenes with bodies) were off camera, would make the game more enjoyable and less of a 'lets freak out the audience' thing, in my opinion.

Really... Really. Having a crime scene off Camera is one of the worst things that could happen, it removes all purpose of a mystery or crime thriller. People curse, you knew what to expect when you bought the game.
As an adult I don't mind if the game has adult content such as violence, nudity or vulgar language. And it was my informed decision to buy the game which includes such content. It is said in several places that game is suitable only for adults and there's violence, strong language and nudity. Considering that it's based on Vertigo comic, I would find it annoying if TTG would have made the game suitable also for children by taking away all content for mature audience, because such version wouldn't be loyal to the comics.
you of course are entitled to what you like, i am saying for myself that i would prefer a check box or something that would make it less gross and less caustic in my opinion, thats all. But what you choose to play or watch is fine. I am not saying make it less so if that is what 'some' audiences want. But i am saying it would be nice to have the 'choice' of editing those out for those of us that prefer not to deal with the language or the beheaded scenes.

Mature audiences, that's just how it is.
Making also a censored version would increase production time of the episodes and considering the fact that the waiting time between the episodes is already long enough, I don't support such idea. I don't mind if they make such mode once the season is finished, but I doubt there will be a huge demand, considering that also the source material is aimed for mature audiences only.
How are you supposed to investigate the crime scene if you can't see it? And changing the dialogue would change the player's impression of the characters. Doesn't work.
please die
I'm sure that in the future, Telltale will also do some series for less mature audiences again. For now, there's no way they'll crank down gore and language - after all, the comic series of both TWD and TWaU don't have alternative dialog as well. Feel free to make a "Stranger in the Alps" fan dub. I'd watch that!
Should TT make My Little Pony Adventure game for you?
That won't probably happen anytime soon. I'm not familiar with Borderlands, but at least Game of Thrones will be for mature audiences only.
This, how will you be able to see the effect of the story on each character if you haven't witnessed it first hand?
Honestly Teal, with all the violence and vulgarity I can get with other AAA games (borderlands 2, the bioshock games, call of duty, any online game, ect) along with movies and television I found TWAU to be rather par for the course (or even on the tame side). I highly doubt telltale would come out with a censored version on their own; however, that being said there may be ways to play the game with minimal levels of violence and vulgarity - just always choose to be the nicest Bigby you can be. Doing so will allow you to avoid all of the more grotesquely violent scenes and will minimize (but probably not eliminate) the vulgarity.
Of course if the ambiant plot (which as you pointed out does involve decapitated heads) is too much for you still, you could try a different work with similar themes to this one. I would recommend the book "The Book of Lost Things" which has a similar twisted fairy tale theme going for it without any of the adult language and violence of TWAU.
The game is intended for mature audience only, if you want a kids game - buy one, theres a ton out there. People like you, who complain about mature stuff in games/movies/tv, you are the ones to blame for the rise of that pg 13 crap in media, like new Robocop that has no dark satire, no gory violence and Murphy dies in a stupid car bomb explosion. Go and play with your rainbows and unicorns if you don't like TWAU, if you strip away all its strong language, violence and sexual themes you are left with a pretty bland story that in no way reflects the reality of poverty, isolation, corruption and other themes the game addresses.
No, there is no alternate dialogue, and no way to "turn off" the investigation scenes. It would be very hard to play this game if you could not investigate the victims' remains.
I understand that this game includes content that some people may find shocking or offensive. But it is a game that's based on a mature comic series (which is, itself, based on the darker side of folklore) and to be fair there are warnings all over it. "Rated M for intense violence, blood and gore, sexual themes, partial nudity, drug reference, strong language, and use of alcohol and tobacco." The game is pretty clear about what to expect, I think. I know people who aren't interested in this game because they don't want to see those things. Fair enough. That's why there's a ratings system, so people know what they're getting into. If you see a warning label that tells you that a game is intensely violent, then believe it.
dude that's the main reason why I like this game so much , as a grown man I can't play anything censored .
This game is not for kids and telltale even asks you to give a date of birth before entering the game's page
your response is a winner hahaha
Well...

Going off of what you said, Teal, it sounds like you wouldn't even last a couple of minutes playing games like: L.A. Noire, Max Payne 3, Postal 2, or any GTA game in general. Just to name a few!
No are my only one whos love the game because of violence, cursing and gore my only one who gets satisfaction from telling someone to f*** off in a game. Very rare games like this gives you the chance to have no filters and let anger out. That's why love tv show walking dead life isn't all rainbows and sunshine it's hard world games like this i connect with more as doesn't give false Representation of the world shows all gritty, violence and cursing of gangster world and murder mystery. All his friends are dieing gruesome deaths he feels isolated and his job to protect so feels worthless unnecessary anger and violence will always follow that.
Markd to the rescue with safe wolf game

Do it Telltale. Now.
Bleh...this has become a world full of hypersensitive wimps.
There's nothing wrong with nice, mild-mannered and polite people who want to avoid more vulgar things of life. They aren't wimps, but they just have different preferences than you or I. I know plenty of people like that from professional context and I can't think anything bad to say about them, except that some are too nice for their own good.
And while I disagree with the OP's request, I don't see anything wrong with asking if there could also be more "family friendly" version of the game. After all some mature games offer that option and he/she wasn't trying to ban the mature version of the game.
All I know is that both you and the OP need to get your opinions very far from the games that I like or be forced to eat your own idiot ideas.
I'm not certain to whom you're answering as your message is a reply to original post, but I assume you might be answering to me because I posted just before your post. If you meant to answer to someone else then, I'm sorry that I bothered you.
Have you actually read anything which I posted? I already gave several rational reasons why the OP's idea wouldn't work (at least not now). All I was saying was an answer to immature post (funny thing considering that the game is supposed to be only for mature audiences), that there's no need for such hostility and there's room for all kind of opinions and people. After all, how old are we? 15? As adults we should be able to have a constructive and polite conversation about the pros and cons of the suggestion without trolling and insulting like immature teenagers often do when someone disagrees with them.
Telltale do something now...... that'll be a first.
This game was intended to be dark. It is based off of a very dark comic. Why would they change the graphic nature of the source material to suit your needs as someone who doesn't want "vulgarity and gore" in their game. This is not the game for you to be playing, quite frankly, if that is your opinion on things.
Play a nicer, calmer, more PG game if that is your case, this game is about solving a brutal murder case and has mature characters and themes. If that's not your cup of tea, that's fine, there are other games out there for you. This one obviously does not fit your criteria.
Would it really have had the same impact if Bigby got mad about Gren calling Snow a gosh-darn dunderhead?
Apparently you haven't read what I wrote, so let me quote my conversation with the OP from the beginning of this thread.
Me:
The OP:
Me:
I don't actually disagree with you, but all I said was that name calling was immature and we should have a polite and mature discussion about the topic. Personally I find posts with actual arguments far more interesting to read than posts which don't have any content besides insults.
There is something wrong with it. It makes them boring individuals. I know plenty of "mild-mannered" and "polite" people who can appreciate great movies or games the way they were intended.
Hypersensitive Wimp: "Hey, who is your favorite director?"
Normal Dude: "Martin Scorsese, I love all his films. Have you seen Goodfellas, Raging Bull or Casino?"
Hypersensative Wimp: "OH GOD NO! I avoid anything that has vulgarity in it."
Normal Dude: "You're a tasteless bore."
Games, like movies are a form of art. It's disrespectful to want a filtered version of something that has had tons of work put into it. Time to grow up and try different things.
Im not even sure what "gosh-darn dunderhead" means lol.
It's doesn't cause any harm to you or me if some people like to play their games with gore, nudity etc. turned off. Many games already offer that option.
As long as it's optional I don't think there's any need to get agitated about it. However if someone would try to enforce censorship so that there would be no mature content at all, then I would be on the barricades.
I never got the impression that anything that was happening was being done for shock value. People curse in my world and expecting a sanitized (a word I'm reluctant to use as I don't see anything foul about "foul" language) version is contrary to the point of an adult game.
Ah, apparently I must have misread or thought you posted something different. Seems like we're pretty much on the same page I guess.
Well, my bad. I must have gotten you mixed up with the OP somehow and thought you were defending a censored version of the game.
A less vulgar, gross version about fairy tale creatures getting murdered, working as prostitutes, and doing the shiftiest work imaginable.
I would roll my eyes, but even that isn't worth the effort.
a 'mature' work need not have vulgarity, or gore to be deeply moving or profound, or even disturbing. Lord of the Flies was a deeply disturbing and mature work, and i would add Conrad's 'Heart of Darkness', or Nevil Shute's 'On The Beach', which are equally disturbing for the seriousness of their subjects, the loss of our humanity, and the death of the human race, though both works contain very minimal curses or gore.
Works that use 'Adult' in the sense of 'adult book store' however rely on vulgarity or sexual connotations to produce its effect. Which may be shocking, but be no more moving or deep despite the language or image. Simply having a character curse or showing a decapitated head is not the same thing as Lord of the Flies social collapse, or Conrad's descent into inhumanity.
Bill Willingham's 'Fables' which TWaU is based on, is a study of the Fables we remember as children, redefined in a new way, their innocence now largely gone and replaced with the harsh reality of our present day society. It is this 'discontinuity' that produces the disturbing themes of the work.
I am not requesting that you change your opinions of what you like, nor am i implying that it somehow makes you 'less' for thinking so. I am however simply stating that works need not be blatantly vulgar or gory, or 'dumbed down' or made 'child-proof' to be deeply moving works.
Poverty, prostitution, violence, frustration, death, can all be shown very effectively not by grossing out the 'players' or the 'readers', but by the effect of the events of the story on the characters. What does all of this make Snow White feel? Or the tension or rising frustration of Bigby who continues to try to figure it out? Do we see the shaking of Snow's lips as she speaks, barely able to function after the scene in the apartment? Is she able to barely hold down her horror, does she cry, or scream, or throw up because she can't deal with it?
Instead of having us press Q, to break the hold of the Woodsman on the axe, why not have us press Q to try to fend off Bigby's rage against the Woodsman? Getting the axe simply has him use it. Fending off his rage could show how close Bigby might be to completely 'losing it'.
Serious works don't have to be abusive to be considered a mature work. And something as simple as a string of curse words doesn't make a work any more deep.
Thank you for listening,
-Teal
If I dislike what you like then I am an 'idiot'? I wonder how you would like it, if we were reversed?
If everyone agrees with you does that make your 'opinion' right? How many people did Mussolini murder in Italy in world war 2 for disagreeing with his tyrannical ideals? Did that make the people that died wrong? And the fascists that lived right?
There is nothing wrong with liking something, but i would hesitate to label you an idiot for thinking differently than me.
-Teal
No, but would it have the same impact if he was barely able to keep from screaming and going out of control and we could see that in the way Bigby was acting?
gosh-darn-dunderhead is stupid.
If you want something dramatic, then you have to create the tension and the rage and it has to show, but you don't have to curse,
