*Spoiler* The ending, is it actually possible that...

... Elaine falls in love with LeChuck at some point in the series? She didn't exactly brush him off at the end with the flower, and he looked kind of sheepish and shy about it... can it be?....

Maybe it's just a misunderstanding. Isn't Elaine supposed to hate LeChuck?

But then, in one of the dialogs in the intro she says that LeChuck's advances would be flattering "if he weren't so dead and I weren't so married"... she also doesn't give an answer to Guybrush's question if she missed him.

So just wait for the next episodes. Maybe all that was just set up for us to think Elaine would fall for LeChuck...

I thought she looked a bit sad and fed-up on the ship at the end, I think she was waiting for Guybrush, he has been gone, what, a day at most?. She might just be tolerating LeChuck at the moment. I wouldn't have thought it was because he was alive, since she first rejected him when he was still alive.

Actually she did; 'Buckets', which I think means "I miss you so much it could fill buckets". I dunno, she's British now, and their English is different.

In my opinion; it is possible that LeChuck's personality and intentions really changed. I mean, after he turned human in the episode, he hasn't done or say anything evil (well, he hasn't done anything). His new approach; giving Elaine a flower instead of some elaborate voodoo ritual might be a sign to a gentler, kinder LeChuck. Why isn't he evil anymore? It could be because not only did Guybrush's hand absorbed LeChuck's voodoo energy, it also absorbed his evilness.

Perhaps, just as Guybrush is experiencing spontaneous flashes of LeChuck-like behavior, LeChuck is also experiencing bouts of Guybrush-like behavior. His giving Elaine the flower could have been one of those moments.

Isn't it more interesting who might be waving the sword in Guybrushs face?
Could this be the return of the sword master?

Yeah, but that will instantly be revealed in the next episode, while the LeChuck thing could last the whole series.

I really like the idea of Guybrush hanging with another woman while Elaine falls for LeChuck. It kinda makes the story all twisty. XD
  • edited July 2009
I'm surprised no one else has really mentioned this yet, I definitely felt they were building towards Elaine having mixed feelings. Sort of like the three main characters in the Pirates of the Carribean movies.

5 bucks on my theory that LeChuck has gone good and Guybrush has to transform LeChuck back to his evil form. Maybe the Pox of LeChuck is the soul of LeChuck spreading?
  • edited July 2009
    ***Far out implausible theories alert***

-- LeChuck convinced Elaine that he is really Guybrush in LeChuck's human body
-- LeChuck put a spell on Elaine to make her think he is really Guybrush
-- LeChuck and Elaine have become friends, and he is comforting her because she is missing Guybrush.

    ---

Anyway, I don't see how the story could possibly get away with Elaine giving up on Guybrush and seriously falling for LeChuck (or anyone else) at this point. I think it would diminish the affection many have for her character - just don't see it happening.

I guess it could be that she thinks Guybrush is dead - but surely she wouldn't then be so quick to fall for the charms of Human Pirate LeChuck?

Anyone else notice how Guybrush's "LeChuck" hand is the one with the ring... o_O

Nah, LeChuck was evil before he died. I think he's just taking advantage of Elaine while she's vulnerable.

I sure hope it's all just a misunderstanding. Guybrush sounded downright crushed when he saw Elaine take the flower.

All of those would be pretty funny, especially the last one- imagine Guybrush swooping in in a grand finale, being awesome and heroic, turning LeChuck back into an evil zombie abomination and saving the Caribbean from the pox... and immediately getting berated by Elaine because LeChuck had reformed and become a nice guy and now Guybrush messed it all up... again.

    My guess is
Elaine as amnesia from the explosion, Lechuck has convinced her that they are married, Lechuck will convince Elaine that Guybrush is an evil pirate, and Elaine will then try to defeat Guybrush, Guybrush must help her get her memory back to save himself and so they can stop Lechuck

That sounds like a soap-opera cliche.

"Does anyone here NOT have amnesia?"

LeChuck has definitly gone good somehow. In the other thread there's a screenshot of human LeChuck with smiley skulls on his uniform. Also notice how he doesn't seem very angry after he transforms, he just seems pleased.

NO! This is starting to sound like bad fan fiction.

Remember the first thing Elaine said when Lechuck turned human?

    "Woof."

Apparently she goes for enormous facial hair.

I've heard that people believe that the "Mysterious Voice" is the sword master, but couldn't it be LeFlay? I mean, all we know are rumors about "him", but Telltale could pull a Samus Aran on us.
  • edited July 2009
We all have agreed its morgan le flay in the speculation thread

but we are seeing that name just as an alias

as in morgan is already someone we know.. just using this fake name

And many more believe its kate capsize

I was a pro sword master now ive converted to pro kate capsize-ism :p

Yeah, I can't help wondering is that a good "woof" or a bad "woof"?

i guess lechuck is a really gentle guy as human now, cause all of his evil pox (was that the word?) are widespread over the seas, so MAYBE it really could be that elaine is kind of attracted to the new lechuck.

Nah, I betcha they both got bonked on their heads, lost their memories and are floating around while trying to get 'em back.

Uhm, I think that the new problems about the relationship between Guybrush and Elaine are suggested and due to Ron Gilbert. What a great guy.
  • edited July 2009
Honestly the thought did cross my mind when I was playing before I got to the ending (although in my mind it was a little more comical and played like a bad dream for Guybrush :p)

But anyway, I'm curious to see how Telltale plays this out in future episodes.

I can't help but wonder if Guybrush is going to end up taking bit of a LeChuck-esque way to get his wife back. O_O

But it wouldn't surprise me if it was truly just a big misunderstanding, I mean this wouldn't be the first time Guybrush was wrong about something.

Hm, the Voodoo Lady read something about a journey, a great loss and a new friend in her Tarot cards...

The great loss will be the loss of his hand:p

Elaine's just pretending she loves him to get the upperhand. Don't underestimate a crafty woman, here! We've seen in the past that her IQ is several times that above Guybrush's, she's likely thought this through.

If LeChuck lost all his vileness, perhaps he's not such a bad guy anymore?

I cant see it... the sword master or Kate yes, but I doubt either of those are the pirate hunter. That doesnt fit with the diologue of "waitng for this for a long time" right at the end. The pirate hunter would just be on the job recently, while the woman at the end has been searching for awhile. An alias is a real far stretch and doesnt make much sense.

If it were anybody from the past, I think it would be Rottingham, but Im almost positive this will be a brand new character...

Bingo. Hence Elaine finding his good side and have a change of heart perhaps. Again, she isnt shying away at the end... I think that would be an amazing story line...

unless it is the pirate hunter and the "waiting for this for a long time" means she has been hunting Guybrush for a long time.

Isn't anyone concerned with how they got onto Guybrush's ship which is surprisingly close to Elaine's not-quite-sunk ship without a scratch on 'em? Guybrush supposedly
has an undead hand that could explain why he could take being shot into the air by De Singe without dying if you consider the pox could be slowly flowing through him making him more and more undead and thus less likely to be hurt
but Elaine and LeChuck aren't so luckily endowed and yet seem perfectly fine and healthy. And what about the crew that was on Guybrush's ship? Are they still there? Why haven't Elaine and LeChuck moved away from the Rock of Gelato?

Sounds more to me like shes at the end of her own journey finally catching up with him, not stumbling upon him by chance through being hired. Besides, how does the alias Morgan La Fey fit with either of these women? It just doesnt make sense.
