This isn't pacing. The pacing of this event largely works.
Intro --> first build is cheerful --> things get darker, both physically and tonally with the music --> then you are ambushed, things look like they are going bad --> you are rescued and we go to the big musical intro --> then you have the fair, etc.
The pacing seems fine. The issues are concerning other elements - mainly, aspects of the plot not being explained to your liking. Personally, I think that's a bit subjective and, in my view, a bit nit-picky. It all made enough sense for me to enjoy the ride.
I can actually answer that.
The pacing issues first appear when you have to go find the pig and then the monsters come out of no where, y… moreou get saved, and suddenly you're talking about some deal and going to the Nether... Uh, we're not going to talk about what just happened at all? Just jumping right into this stuff even though I barely know you (Petra I mean).
Then right after that on the bridge you're surrounded again... how did they get behind us, where did they all come from, and how did they all know to coordinate this?? (I have played Minecraft and do understand that monsters spawn in darkness/night/caves but since this is a narrative focused game, it should elaborate more or show).
After the bridge you reunite with your friends, who apparently gave up looking for the pig and said good luck to you too since they went to the con. And they don't ask about any specifics about the deal (before or after) or what happened while you w… [view original content]
How is this not pacing? You jump from one event to the next before you have a moment to let anything sink in and before anything is explained. The pacing falls right in line with the plot but the plot is the minor issue here. The player keeps getting told things but little to nothing is told about any of it which turns it into this quick-moving mess. Before you have a chance to find out what's going on or why, you're rushed right into the next scene. Proper pacing doesn't have the protagonist go from one desperate, hopeless instance to being rescued then being thrusted right into another, more desperate situation just moments later, it causes a problem with how we, the player/audience are supposed to feel.
You can call it nit-picking all you like and that's great if you enjoyed it, not trying to change anyone's opinion, but this is exactly what they did for episode 5 of Thrones where they moved you from event-to-event before you had a chance to think things over. Some people were fine with that too but I'm not and glad I didn't pay for this after seeing it.

I agree that it wasn't the best game in the world, but all the nay-sayers are making me into a guardian for this game. It's the best and only fun I'll ever have with Minecraft...
I expected stuff like this. Most people just think that because of a name it's the same. It's kind of the assumption people make when they s… moreee the Walking Dead attached to something that Daryl would be there.
I enjoyed, albeit less than some of the other recent starter episodes.

Yeah I notice quite a few negative reviews on Steam and some of them are just stupid. I know every game gets that, but, a lot of people have not given it a chance, despite there only being one episode so far.
I feel like 90% of the negative reviews on steam are basing their dislike for the game solely on that they don't like Minecraft. If I had to play a drinking game for every time I read something among the lines of "cash grab" I'd be long dead.
This still sounds like plot issues to me. You are transitioned from scene to scene with establishing shots and changes in lighting/tone. The pacing is fine. Nothing outstanding, but it's all there. You're rescued but come into trouble on the way out. The tone doesn't shift between the fight scenes, except things gradually cheer up for the credits. I just don't see the pacing issues you insist are there. We rush through some scenes in the second half due to the sense of urgency what with the giant monsters and such. The story moved pretty naturally for me. Maybe they haven't explained everything to your liking, but that's not pacing. That's... nothing, really.

Thank you for the answer. So, If i buy the game on Steam I'll have automatically all the episodes when they will release?!
I think I'll buy it tomorrow
Well believe what ya like then, nothing else can really be said to try and convince either of us the other way at this point. This is another case where I wish I wasn't so skeptical but ah well. The good news is this'll be the only episode I'll gripe about (I don't like being that guy at all) . But I sincerely hope you keep enjoying the series!

Nah all the negative reviews I see are people who are minecraft kids who just had their moms buy it because "its minecraft" with no research or anything on what it is. People who hate minecraft just wont buy it

I think it's because the young Minecraft players thought that Minecraft: Story Mode is, well, a new mode for minecraft, but they haven't done any research. They don't want to put the blame on themselves though, so they write negative reviews.

It isn't their problem though. They are not obliged to give it a chance.
Especially in a current oversaturated indie market while Humble Bundle gives you tons of games with a dollar.

work your grammar needs, hmmm?
Well, if anything, I do find myself entertained by their reactions.
It's not a review, but this person is just so fucking dumb.
Worst FPS mod ever.
Steam refund system is not still known by everyone who buys from there.
It seems that they don't like to advertise it too much.
This is why I trust critics more than consumers.
C'mon dude, it's an obvious troll. Nobody can be that stupid, right? RIGHT?
In this day and age, I wouldn't be surprised.
Oh god...
I kind of hope this doesn't happen to Tales Ep. 5, that series is too great man...
That's... grits teeth and clenches fists that's some interesting criticism...
Here's one. The guy gave it a positive review but his request to improve the game are ridiculous

Doesn't like Minecraft > Buys Game > Negative review it because you don't like Minecraft
Yup.
You and me both, but we'll know in less than a week!

Switching "The_Jackal" with "fucking moron" would also be pretty good.
Also, I had seen someone leave a bad review cause he didn't like the graphics settings for the game -_-

Seriously though. These reviews are pathetic. I wasn't sure about this game after my first playthrough, but it's sure as hell started to grow on me.
Telltale really know how to make a great game out of anything.
I honestly read that as my 13 year old minecraft players and then he said he was 20, and I was getting real confused.
