Honestly, a drastic change to gameplay for games that are many years old just doesn't appear to be a good idea, they may fine-tune the current gameplay so it feels more modern, but it won't be a major change, otherwise you'll see complaints of Bioware going to an old game that was critically acclaimed for what it was, and change it to a point where it loses its resemblance to what the remastered trilogy itself is based on
Really hyped for this but i'm hoping they do more than update the graphics and have the game play at 60 fps on consoles,we already have a lo… moret of mods that improve the graphics and restore content.
What i hope they do is change the gameplay of the first game because it's pretty outdated and change the driving of the Mako and make it drive more like the Nomad in ME Andromeda.
Anyway we'll see soon enough i'm glad to see it's finally here.
Games get delayed, it's nothing new, and it's not something that'll go away, games will be delayed, it's just a part of the industry. As for how many chances a developer deserves, that depends, but if your outlook on a Dev isn't a positive one, or you don't appreciate what they do, or the content released, then perhaps you should look elsewhere to another developer for games, not being a dick, but why continue using energy on an IP if you haven't hope for it?
What they've said is PR talk and talking up the game, but you get the feeling they are packing something behind this upcoming game, character customisation does seem like it may be a thing as their other titles have nailed down on character customisation, like custom managers in FIFA, so they could implement that.
I hope they bring the character customisation forward but like with more face options, and I don't know how it would work or make any sense in a modern day setting but I think it would be neat to have the fortification building from BF5.
I wasn't calling you a dick, as AChicken said, I was telling you that if you aren't a fan of the content being released, then look for a developer that provides the games you want, and by that comment in my post, I wasn't setting out to be a dick in saying that.
So my sister might finally watch Avatar: The Last Airbender! Unfortunately the way she got interested in it is... Definitely not the ideal way.
I've got this spoiler tag for a reason.
So, she recently watched a video all about one of the best redemption arcs in history -- Zuko's.
Through this video, it piqued her interest on Zuko himself (admitting to me that S3 Zuko is quite the looker. Ooh la la.)
And... Then it obviously leads her to stumble upon (or willingly look up, I don't know) fanfiction regarding Zuko.
Yes.
And I assume through this fanfiction and the Redemption Arc video itself, she now knows almost all the major plot points of Season 3. The blood-bending, the "Zuko saves Katara moment", Zuko joining the Gaang, Azula's whole downfall... And she's interested now. sigh ah well. At least if it gets her into it.
Just had to gush about this. I don't get many victories in recommending things to my sister. Untrustworthy of my taste and stubborn to a tee.
As someone whose never played the Mass Effect series, has heard mostly good things about it (except 3's ending), and refused to download Origin in order to play it since EA wouldn't allow Mass Effect 3 on Steam, I'm really looking forward to this. Finally, a chance to play the Mass Effect series and enjoy what was considered Bioware's peak before they collapsed.

I don't know what to feel about the ME: Remaster. On the one hand, I'm excited to see the new graphics (really want to see how Saren and the Reapers look for example). On the other hand, my game backlog is really big...
I wonder if they'll change the gameplay of 1 to fit 2 and 3. Also, @MetallicaRules Mass Effect is fantastic. Amazing. Truly great.
I bought Mass Effect 1 and 2 on Steam but I just didn't feel like continuing the story due to ME1's dated gameplay. If Capcom can modernize the controls for Resident Evil Remake with its HD remaster, Bioware can do that as well and needs to.
I'm about on the same page with how I feel about the remaster. This is EA after all and Bioware didn't have a good reputation in the last decade. I'll just keep my expectations low until I see the reception for it.

Im so excited about this. Kinda hope it has multiplayer. It was hardly your fault, as I said to AChicken, I see where my phrasing went wrong and why you thought I was insulting you, that's an error on my end, not yours, that was me cutting corners in a comment thinking I was clear with what I was saying, but I wasn't, so don't feel you are at fault.
I understand you were not hating on it, but to me, to call out a well-documented and specific problem that had plagued Mass Effect: Andromeda, which on one hand is fine, it's noticeable and pretty hilarious to see what the facial animations were like, wanting them to get better surely means getting in contact and making the issues known directly to the studio in order for them to fix the technical problems existing in the game? You are very well within your right to make your thoughts publicly known, and I feel the facial animations are hilarious, but it doesn't really take steps to resolve the problem unlike direct contact with the customer support.
I used to own Mass Effect back on the Xbox 360, and at my young age I couldn't get into it, my attention span just wasn't great as FIFA was my game of choice at the time. I'd also like to get into the Mass Effect Series as these past few years I have heard brilliant things, 3's Ending is controversial, personally I'm not too bothered by it though, there's bigger things to worry about than it.
My problem with buying it is I stick to the same games, I usually play Halo: The Master Chief Collection, The Walking Dead, Fight Night Champion and State of Decay 2, I've a huge backlog I intend to get around to playing, but never go through with it. Maybe by the time of its release I may pick it up and branch out from what I currently play

Unfortunately, I’m kind of the same way. I’ve got tons of games in my backlog, ranging from Thief, RDR2, Monster Hunter, the Metro series, Heavy Rain, etc., and all I keep doing is go back to Borderlands, Dishonored, 2018’s God of War (another series I need a remaster for so I can play the original trilogy), Dying Light, and Horizon: Zero Dawn. Hell, I haven’t even gotten to the new DOOM Eternal DLC yet because I’ve been playing BL3 again, and before that was Ghost of Tsushima. And with Cyberpunk coming out later this year (hopefully, if it’s not delayed for the 10th time), I don’t even know when I’m going to touch some of these games. I want to expand and try new stuff, but the need for familiarity brings me right back.

But yeah it just could be the uncertainty of what you may get from the games, when you are playing tried and tested games consistently, you know what you get, I think we as the consumers are a lot warier of what we buy these days. I wish EA would make another story for Fight Night but I'm scared because 95% there will be microtransactions. But how did you like it? Because I thought it was awesome (despite the stupid addons that EA added during the time).

Borderlands 2 is fantastic. If you were able to slog your way through the first game, then you should have no trouble getting through BL2. It's improved in every single way and is still one of my all time favorite games. Pre-Sequel is good for what it is, not great, but still worth it.

Honestly I love it, the sport of boxing is quite exciting to me, so that drew me in to play Fight Night. I mainly play Legacy Mode (Career Mode) and go to the light-heavyweight division, win the three belts then move up to the heavyweight division and conquer it too.
A boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn, has actually expressed a desire for another Fight Night game to be released, I pray it happens, and if it does, I hope it features Tyson Fury (my favourite boxer, the man is a brute) and Anthony Joshua, who is also an animal at what he does. Maybe even pay Floyd Mayweather a couple of million to get him into the game, because I think if they are to do another Fight Night, they need to blow Champion out of the water and feature star-studded rosters.
It is EA in the end, and there probably will be microtransactions, for me I'm not too bothered unless it's something egregious like locking fighters behind it.
Fight Night Champion

Slog is an understatement lad, I have been wanting to complete the DLC for the first game, but my God I lack the motivation for it. That's great to hear for BL2, I haven't touched it but I've always had this feeling it would be a big step up from the first game, and you stated that, so my hunch was somewhat right. I'll keep that in mind for Pre-Sequel too man, thanks. A bit of a change in topic, but I'm curious to hear your thoughts, what would be your GOTY for 2020?

So I'm just after asking this question to Metallica, but to extend it beyond our conversation, I wanted to ask you all, what is your 2020 GOTY and why?
Since we are talking about games we haven't finished, I'd like to share my thoughts as well.
Last summer, I wanted to replay Red Dead Redemption 2 and complete the story and the side quests again. But for some reason, I always happen to quit at Chapter 3. For the most part, this is because the game is too damn long. I never really understood why gamers think the bigger game length is, the better. I always lose patience after repeatedly riding horses, killing cowboys, committing heists, looting places etc. But that's not exactly the case. It's also the fact that the gameplay is sooo slow due to how realistic it is. I understand this was Rockstar's intention, to make it feel like the old western times but I don't play games to appreciate their realism. I play them for entertainment. I choose quality over quantity any day.
At the beginning of this year, I bought Nier Automata on sale. It's visually outstanding and the combat is amazing, yet I couldn't feel like continuing forward.
I also have a big library of games on Steam that I either never played or never finished, namely the first 2 Mass Effect games, the FEAR collection, Crysis 2, Aliens vs Predator, Left 4 Dead 2, Killing Floor 2, Alan Wake and Spec Ops: The Line.
The only new games that I bought recently managed to finish is Little Nightmares and Soma. Little Nightmares was visually amazing, I loved the lore and its atmosphere. I look forward to the sequel but not anytime soon. Soma was great, it had a good story but I didn't like how it was just a one time experience with no reason to re-experience it ever again. The gameplay is good but lackluster and the enemies were kind of forgettable. That is one of the reasons why I decided not to buy Amnesia Rebirth.
What I am playing right now is Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin because I am a Soulsbourne fanboy and I still haven't beat some of its optional and DLC bosses. Can't wait for Demon's Souls.
The DLC's of Borderlands 1 is really where the series and a lot of its trademark associations start coming on display. The main game went through a huge revamp late in its production, going from a serious sci-fi shooter to more lighthearted, comedy based. The art style also changed, one of the first trailers for Borderlands showed a very realistic art style, but they changed it to cel-shading with about 75% of the game complete. As a result, the first game is, for lack of a better term, dry in terms of humor and tone, the comedy and wackiness were very late additions that were built upon later. The first DLC is a minor, but still noticeable improvement, the second is just Moxxi's Underdome fighting ring, but the third and fourth DLC's are really fun and way better than the base game.
I haven't really played that many new games from this year, but I'm torn between DOOM Eternal and Ghost of Tsushima. Ghost's narrative and visuals are absolutely magnificent, with interesting and complex characters, a breathtaking open world, and fun gameplay and combat to boot, it stands a legitimate chance of not only being this years GOTY, but one of the best PS4 games ever released.
But then, there's MOTHERFUCKING DOOM BITCHES! SLAUGHTERING EVERY SINGLE DEMON THAT CROSSES YOUR PATH IN THE MOST GRUESOME WAYS POSSIBLE! FUCKING SHOOTING YOURSELF OUT OF A CANNON, BLOWING A GIANT FUCKING HOLE INTO MARS, THE DOOM SLAYER HIMSELF, THE HEAVY METAL SCORE, IT'S TESTOSTERONE IN VIDEO GAME FORM AND I LOVE IT!!! TAKE YOUR "toxic masculinity" BULLSHIT AND GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE, THIS IS FUCKING DOOM, LET'S RIP AND TEAR UNTIL IT'S FUCKING DONE...(ahem) I mean, it's pretty fun and I really enjoyed it.
Doesn't matter though, we all know TLOU II is winning. It just subverted so many expectations, like the expectation of it being a good game. And hell, that Tell Me Why game will probably get nominated as well. Haven't seen a single second of it, but I can think of two reasons why. One, it was made by Life is Strange developers Dontnod, and critics just can't help but heap endless praise on them. And two, well, let's just say that it's something it and TLOU II share character-wise.

Well, 2020 just got worse. RIP Alex Trebek, no matter who they get to host Jeopardy, they will never be able to hold a candle to you. Fuck cancer, fuck it straight to hell.
That's a lot to unpack, but I sincerely appreciate the trivia and information behind the first Borderlands game. I actually played some of Moxxi's Underdome and it is very time consuming, so I've pushed it down on my things to do within the game.
I've heard good things about both, and watched some gameplay from Ghost of Tsushima, it is very pretty, in terms of story and characters, I know very little about it, as the gameplay I watched was a funny moments video. DOOM Eternal looks fun and I've been thinking of getting into it, but for reasons mentioned earlier, I have not done so yet. Although, based on your paragraph on it, my hunch tells me there's a little something about it that draws people in, that sir, has piqued my interest, and I wish to know more.
I think The Last of Us Part II has it, I think it is deserving of it, I have not played it, but reading up on its accessibility, to the story they told, rather than give in to what players want, it was treated as an art form with a narrative that is divisive, controversial, maybe one that's ahead of its time with the attitude the world has towards LGBTQIA at the moment, content on it is going to draw some negative attention. I have to commend Neil for the bravery behind it, knowingly crafting a story that will divide, but doubling down and putting it on a screen, and not letting the backlash the game received get to him, I think it's worthy of the GOTY award.
Tell Me Why, I know small tidbits about it, nothing major other than the main character, why I feel Dontnod gets consistently good reviews is how they tackle very real issues, not sugarcoat it because it's a game, and spread awareness of the injustices and cruelness that exist in our own world, dialogue in their games can come off as cringy, but when dealing with the demographics these games focus on, it makes sense, what makes it cringy is how we ourselves behaved or said similar things at that age, it isn't a proud chapter in our lives, but one that each and every one of us has gone through.

That's great, what would be your favourite aspect of the game? I appreciate the breadth of the game, it's gigantic, and while I appreciate it, it bores me a little bit when I'm travelling from A to B, because the land is desolate and civilisation is scattered across this map. With Grand Theft Auto V, civilisation is always around, even in rural areas, it's a poor gripe for me, and it's more a problem on my end that I lack the patience for it, but that's what made me put the controller down on RDR2

Don't get me wrong, the accessibility of TLOU II is something that should be praised, what they were able to do with that deserves so much credit, it's absolutely incredible. Wish the story was better to back it up, but the technology behind TLOU II definitely should get more recognition. As for the rest, we will have to agree to disagree. I have several problems with how TLOU II and LiS have executed its story and character elements, as well as themes. My LiS dislike is well documented, so I really don't want to get into it again, as I'm sure many people here will be relieved to here. As for TLOU II, parts of it were good, parts of it sucked, not the worst thing I played, certainly not the best. The only thing I will say is that I'm noticing a trend that creators and artists are becoming more interested in "shocking" people and being "divisive" with their stories, rather than telling a good story. Just because something is "brave" and "controversial," or even goes against what people were expecting, doesn't make it good. Cohesive writing, consistency, likable, sympathetic, and deep characters, and the journey itself, that's what makes it good, all of which I thought the first game executed extremely well, and the second game failed to do in some regards. It could be good, if done right, and I just think TLOU II was a game that suffered from a very, very flawed execution because it was more interested in attempting to do other things, and not delivering on the things that mattered.

It will. This is always a popularity contest, and TLOU II is the head cheerleader at school. I'll be more surprised if it doesn't win. Despite fan reaction to it (some of it just being internet trolls, but most of the backlash coming from a genuine dislike of the game), critics loved it, and critics and journalists ultimately make these choices. It's a no brainer, TLOU II was getting its GOTY award before it was even released.

Moved to a town right outside of Trenton, NJ late last year. Trenton is home to a baseball team called the Trenton Thunder, one of the minor league affiliates of the New York Yankees, my favorite baseball team. Was kind of excited to go to some Thunder games over the course of the summer to see some of the up and coming Yankees, but then Covid happened and the entire season was cancelled. Sucks, but I understand, always next year, right? Well, as it turns out, the Yankees have now dropped the Trenton Thunder as one of their minor league affiliates. They are being replaced with the Somerset Patriots. What was once a 12 minute drive to see future Yankees players, is now 50 minutes. To make things even more ironic, the Patriots are only about 30 minutes from where I used to live in NJ before I moved. That's just my luck unfortunately.

So there's a Chinese Among Us clone that's been very popular, it's called "Werewolf Among Us".
Honestly, a drastic change to gameplay for games that are many years old just doesn't appear to be a good idea, they may fine-tune the current gameplay so it feels more modern, but it won't be a major change, otherwise you'll see complaints of Bioware going to an old game that was critically acclaimed for what it was, and change it to a point where it loses its resemblance to what the remastered trilogy itself is based on
Games get delayed, it's nothing new, and it's not something that'll go away, games will be delayed, it's just a part of the industry.
Here it is, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition
He was calling himself a dick. Or, at least in a "I'm not trying to be a dick, but..." kind of way.
I wasn't calling you a dick, as AChicken said, I was telling you that if you aren't a fan of the content being released, then look for a developer that provides the games you want, and by that comment in my post, I wasn't setting out to be a dick in saying that.
I'm not exactly a wordsmith, and I can see how CAITT thought I was calling him that, but I'm glad you saw that wasn't what I meant.
Thank fuckin' God lmao.
Hey, if it gets someone interested and watching the show, it's something, even if it's not the most ideal.
Now that warms an old moderator's heart.
Honestly very poggers
Im so excited about this. Kinda hope it has multiplayer. Also if it does well not only does it help DA4's development as it also could mean a Dragon Age Origins remaster sometime down the line (this is an original thought I had, NOT stolen from @iFoRias ). and that would be,,, the best thing that could ever happen to me !
Yes please.
I'm devastated.
I got my spy character killed in Watch Dogs.
Man don't even talk about RDR2 I did the Prologue, and that's as far as I got, haven't touched it much more since January 2019. I got the Borderlands Series and completed the first game, but haven't got around to the second one, or the Pre-Sequel. I bought the Assassin's Creed Ezio Collection, haven't touched it, Bully I've done Chapter 1, there's too many to even mention.
But yeah it just could be the uncertainty of what you may get from the games, when you are playing tried and tested games consistently, you know what you get, I think we as the consumers are a lot warier of what we buy these days. Or it could be a subconscious thing, where the games we replay provide a level of joy that we renown them for, and we may or may not question the ability of other games to match or exceed it, so rather than go out and try something new without any guarantee of coming away satisfied, we stick to what is guaranteed to give us a good time, at least that's what I believe
Tell Me Why, I know small tidbits about it, nothing major other than the main character, why I feel Dontnod gets consistently good reviews is how they tackle very real issues, not sugarcoat it because it's a game, and spread awareness of the injustices and cruelness that exist in our own world, dialogue in their games can come off as cringy, but when dealing with the demographics these games focus on, it makes sense, what makes it cringy is how we ourselves behaved or said similar things at that age, it isn't a proud chapter in our lives, but one that each and every one of us has gone through.
ah, playing the best souls game i see
Why are you making this more difficult? I don't blame you though, cause the critics took it too far with their nonsensical reviews. It's still possible for TLOU2 to lose cause 2 years ago, the competition was between Red Dead Redemption 2 and God of War. RDR2 had bigger reviews, bigger sales and won most of the awards, yet God of War ended up winning GOTY.
If TLOU2 wins, I'll probably lose my shit worse in my next review parts.
Well, it's actually my least favorite of the entire trilogy but I still like it as much as the other games. It does have a lot of flaws but at the same time, it does a lot of new things which I appreciate.
I have been playing Red Dead Redemption 2 since December 2018. I know I'm towards the end now. It's an amazing game. But yeah, it takes a long time, especially when you just like to explore like me.
